jank1708 says "my son's favorite" about LEGO

Legos..Have a little boy who likes to biuld things, these are the toys for you. Lego has the greatest biulding sets around, from builders of a very young age to builders who are much older. My one son, between the ages of nine through thirteen would be building continuously with his lego sets. He would ask for a new set every time we went to the store. He would ask for lego sets for his birthday and for Christmas. I had lego sets everywhere. And try stepping on one of those little pieces...Ow! He tried to get me to but almost all the sets out there and some of them were very expensive. He would build and build and build every day all day. These sets kepy him out of trouble and helped to keep his mind busy. I was amazed how he could follow the instructions all by himself. So, hands up to the lego company for all the hours and hours of building fun that my son had as a young boy. I would recommend buying a lego building set to anyone who has a child that enjoys building...
...

dbm82 says "Great for girls and boys!" about LEGO

Who doesn't love LEGOs? Well my mother for one. Many were the times she was left nursing a hurting foot after stepping on one or eight of these suckers that had sunk down in to our 1980's plush carpeting. And yet, she somehow let all three of us kids play with our jar full of LEGO blocks for about nine years straight. I can only imagine this is because we loved our blocks so much she couldn't bear to take them away from us.

As a girl, I can say that I loved playing with my LEGOs just as much as my two brothers. While none of us grew up to be engineers, they definitely encouraged us to think in new ways. We never really got into the kits designed for building specific structures (planes, etc.). My personal recommendation would be one of the big, general buckets over the kits.

For younger children, these also come in larger sizes. Definitely recommended for the parent who doesn't want to be grasping their heel in pain every time they walk into a dark family room!
...

Little-Mo says "LEGOS have been a mainstay in my house since I was little!" about LEGO

I have loved Legos since I was a little girl - I still have fond memories of the army-green huge bucket of thousands of pieces that we carted around on EVERY vacation, to every sleepover and through every room in our house. Over the years, we probably scattered the things in more hotel rooms and backyards than I care to think about, but we always got more come Christmas and birthdays, so the bucket was never empty. Legos are an amazing toy - when you buy the sets that make a motorcycle or a space station, they show you where you can start, and then your imagination just goes wild. They're a wonderful toy for beginning builders because their Duplo blocks are large, easy to handle, and great to tug apart again as toddlers learn their ways around finer motor skills and start to develop their creativity. They're a well-rounded toy for mostly every age, and I've never found something better! While their cost is sometimes rather prohibitive, the holidays are a fine time to scope out...
...

frias86 says "legos" about LEGO

I think it is good for kids to play with legos. It give them time to interact with there self power in there brains, and that give them confidence. Also it is a babystitter when it comes down to getting this done around the house. they are easy to clean and disinfect if they seem to get dirty while they are being played with. After having purchased many Legos, I went to a Lego store and was amazed to see the "wall of Legos," which you can purchase by the bucket full. For a flat fee (around $12), you can fill your bucket from a colorful array of various pieces (many shapes, sizes and colors.) My son spends hours putting together spaceships, cars, trucks, etc., and has truly mastered his fine motor skills by using these little pieces. Now he has moved on to working with the Lego kits, which are also inexpensive, and of course, needs assitance, but he so enjoys them and never seems to tire of them. We have been playing with these Legos for at least six months and without fail, he plays with...
...

lailablossom says "WOW! The perfect toy " about LEGO

Lego, officially trademarked LEGO, is a line of construction toys manufactured by a privately held company based in Denmark. The company's flagship product, Lego, consists of colorful interlocking plastic bricks and an accompanying array of gears and various other parts. Lego bricks can be assembled and connected in many ways, to construct such objects as vehicles, buildings and even working robots. Anything constructed can then be taken apart again, and the pieces used to make other objects. The toys were originally designed in the 1940s in Europe and have achieved an international appeal, with an extensive subculture that supports Lego movies, games, competitions, and four Lego-themed amusement parks.

By 1954, Christiansen's son had become the junior managing director of the Lego Group. It was his conversation with an overseas buyer that struck the idea of a toy system. Godtfred saw the immense potential in Lego bricks to become a system for creative play, but the bricks still had...
...
