jodyice says "Got to love the Po" about Kung Fu Panda

I really didn't believe that this would be a movie I would like, but from the first scene, I was hooked.

Although Po was very clumsy and a lot more talk than action, he made the movie move between me wanting him to either just give it up or to do everything perfectly. It also showed a side of "the not so typical parent," raising a *child* and wanting them to follow in the same footsteps as he did. And not really having the confidence at the beginning that Po would be able to do as well as he did end up doing. I feel the inner part of that meant for parents not to just try and always have your kids follow in the steps that you want, but that perhaps try to listen to your children and see what desires they have. Not all ideas are crazy.

And although Po was truly different than the others being trained, he did show a certain drive, forcing himself to go the distance. When he finally accomplished what he was being trained for it did come as a huge surprise, but also one that perhaps...
...

We actually saw Kung Fu Panda in the theater back when it first came out, but since it was recently released on DVD we had to go and get it and I thought I would review it.

Po (voice of Jack Black) is a big jolly Panda bear who dreams about Kung Fu. Unfortunately his father only dreams of noodles and is hoping that Po will someday find the love of noodles himself and eventually take over the noodle business.

Meanwhile in the village the town master and insightful turtle Oogway (voice of Randall Duke Kim) has decided that it is time to pick a new Dragon Warrior. The Dragon Warrior will take the place of Master Shifu (voice of Dustin Hoffman) who will take on the Oogway's responsibilities as Oogway's life would soon be complete. The new Dragon Warrior would be chosen by the senses of Oogway. He would sense the warrior. A large festival was held as Oogway would sense the next Dragon Warrior. It was thought that one of the Fearsome Five, who were students that master Shifu had personally trained,...
...

The box office monster in China recently. Electrifying and full of actions. But the whole idea seems to be derivative, reminds me of the theme of the animation Dr Horton released several months ago: what you see is not the truth, what you believe is the truth. Such a transcendental belief is in essence Western rather than rooted in the classical Chinese wisdom, leaving all the other Chinese elements mere veneer. The box office monster in China recently.

We took "Kung Fu Panda" on a road trip with an 8 year old and a 3 year old and were so happy we did. When darkness set in and we were 3 hours from bed time and 5 hours from our destination we popped it in the van and they were content and quiet during the whole movie. My husband and I love the lessons in the movie of "follow your dreams" and "anything is possible". It provided a lot of discussion topics for us and our 8 year old....

My kids had already seen Kung Fu Panda, but our local theater offered it as a free show for Halloween and I took them again. I was impressed by the story line, as well as the animation quality. As in most recent animated movies, there was lots of adult humor that flew above the young kids' heads. The story had humor, action, suspense, and of course a happy ending.

My 8-year-old son laughed nearly constantly at Po's constant pratfalls, frequently remarking "I didn't see that last time!" It also made him want to take martial arts lessons.

My 12-year-old daughter was a little more low-key in her amusement, but she did like the adult humor in the movie that was missed by her little brother. She also noted things that she did not catch in her first viewing.

This is a movie that we will be buying on DVD as it's one that will easily stand up to more than one viewing.
...

I originally didn't want to see this movie. The preview seemed childish and somewhat boring. So I was obviously surprised when I absolutely loved it. The humor is very diverse and appeals to adults as well as kids, the characters may be a bit stereotypical but they each have their own charm. And the moral of the movie is one that can be appreciated by all movie-goers. So although there are plenty of good-humored fat, lazy panda jokes, this movie shines through with a lot of heart and a fighting spirit. By far, my favorite characters are the Taoist master turtle, Ugwe, and Po’s duck father who runs a soup stand and has, in his own way, found some sort of enlightenment.

...

Dreamworks has done it again. Kung Fu Panda has a phenomenal cast including Jack Black as Po the Panda. This movie has some highly repeatable one-liners and kept the whole family holding our sides the whole movie. Seriously, we've owned the movie for two weeks and have probably watched it 25 times already. And I can't wait to watch it again. It has a great story line, some good lessons for kids to learn, well-developed characters, and enough substance to entertain adults too. Of course, now we can't keep our kids from playing Kung-fu with each other and the dog, but that's to be expected.
...

It's the story about a lazy, irreverent slacker panda, named Po, who is the biggest fan of Kung Fu around...which doesn't exactly come in handy while working every day in his family's noodle shop. Unexpectedly chosen to fulfill an ancient prophecy, Po's dreams become reality when he joins the world of Kung Fu and studies alongside his idols, the legendary Furious Five -- Tigress, Crane, Mantis, Viper and Monkey -- under the leadership of their guru, Master Shifu. But before they know it, the vengeful and treacherous snow leopard Tai Lung is headed their way, and it's up to Po to defend everyone from the oncoming threat. Can he turn his dreams of becoming a Kung Fu master into reality? Yes, he did.....

Kung Fu Panda is hilarious!! It's funny, but also endearing. It also has a great message... you can do anything if you put your mind to it! It shows a lot about friendship and hard work, which seems to be lacking these days with parents who give kids everything. Kung Fu Panda is a great and entertaining movie.

I really enjoyed it, and I hope you do, too! :)...
