traceytracelyn says "Will never buy another Kitchen Aid anything" about KitchenAid Superba Refrigerators

I bought this fridge 4 years ago at Lowes. Someone had brought it back. They said it was only used for a week. We have had trouble with the ice-maker every since. We called the repair man out once to have it serviced but it's really useless. We have probly used the ice through the door feature no more than 50 times since we've had it. It's always getting stopped up. We take out the holder, clean it, let it dry and put it back in. It will work for a day and freeze up again. I lost several thousand on this but I know not to buy Kitchen Aid again
...

In the 2 years of buying this model new, the ice maker has broken down 2 x, replaced once, and the computer board is now broken. We are waiting for a replacement which will take 3 weeks to ship, and over $500. Very disappointing for Kitchenaid.
...

nickdee says "Kitchenaid is the best" about KitchenAid Superba Refrigerators

My Kitchenaid Superba refrigerator was the best purchase I made when moving into my new home. From previous experience with this brand, I purchased a new side-by-side and have found it to be most economical and spacious for my family.

The electronic controls make it easy for both sides to be perfectly climate controlled. The ice and water dispenser are the best feature, plus the filtering system gives a great glass of water everytime (and the ice cubes are great too).

I like that it has a kid-proof control too, keeps water and ice from flowing onto the ground by an inquisitive little hand.
...

esotericlvx says "Cools great but the layout doesn't allow for best use of space." about KitchenAid Superba Refrigerators

The KitchenAId Superba fridge works great. The fridge half will get cold enough to freeze groceries if I turn the thermostat down. The ice and water in the door is very handy, especially with kids. The filtration system is fantastic and gives us clean tasting water without the expense of buying bottled water. We just use our sportsbottles and save money and reduce the amount of trash we generate.

I do not like the layout of the interior of the fridge though. The freezer portion is very narrow, making it difficult to place larger packages (such as meats and gallon size items). The slide out shelves are okay, but don't always stay in place when taking things out and putting things in. I dislike having to "chase" my shelving.

This is a very big fridge, so if you get one, be sure to allow enough space to put it.
...
