The Kirby Corporation has been in existance for about 100 years. Normally peoply 70 and above refer to the Kirby as a hoover or they will call every vacuum a kirby even if it a dyson. The company has existed and thrived on door to door sales atctics and it has worked for them. The promotion to buy the Kirby is for one day at that price. They used to be a lot cheaper but with inflationand such these vacuums go for about $2500,they cost more in california. The vacuum covers all your household needs.I have seen carpets kept brand new looking for 10 years ,by faithful Kirby users( not updating thier vacuum). If you are thinking about buying 1 go ahead get it out of the way especially if you have a 2 story home and want your carpet looking good for the next 6 years or so. If you have children use the kirby twice daily if you want your carpet to stay nice looking and that's just vacuuming-I am not talking about the shampooer that's awhole other subject. Worth every penny! Owned first Kirby 22 years, never had problem, traded it in last year for a Sentria Kirby never knew I could be so excited about a vaccum cleaner! I highly suggest the Kirby to anyone who enjoys quality!!

Not 5 minutes after the sales rep left our home, my husband turned on the Kirby (exactly in the same settings as the rep had used and left it) and the belt broke. Right in half. I was so angry. The bags that "couldn't be ripped"....took my son (he's 4) about 3 minutes to have it out, and ripped. So, I was down 1 bag and 1 belt within the first 20 minutes of being an owner.

It cleans very well, but it is time consuming to switch to the hose, or any other attachment. When used as a canister vacuum, it is VERY heavy to carry around (say, to vacuum the stairs) I owned a Dyson, and was suprised at the dirt it left around that the Kirby picked up, but it's funtionability is so much better than the Kirby (attached hose, etc).

I think that negotiating a price for a vacuum is a bad idea. I can't believe that they asking price is almost $2700.00 and I was able to talk down the sales rep to $650. I think that the price should be an honest price. If it's a $700.00 vacuum, then...

The Kirby Sentria costs an arm and a leg, but boy is it worth it. I've had the plastic models of other uprights with their flimsy attachments, but this one blows them all away. You won't have to buy another vaccuum for a very long time after owning one of these. The Kirby has a lot of tools that comes with it, including the shampoo tools. I love those. The demonstration by the salesman proved to me just how good this was. There were no tricks involved in the cleaning of my floors with my old vaccuum and this one. I've used the shampooer at least 20 times, and it works every time. Don't get me wrong, it won't take out major spots like kool-aid, nail polish or hair dye (as my daughters use), but it will take out the usual water spots and clean the floors well. The suction power also picks up tons of sand that you'd never guess gets dragged in on your shoes, but it does. The only problems with this vac is it's very heavy (but durable) and the cord is clumsy. But Kirby...

I love our Kirby. We had a salesman come to our door-totally did not expect to buy anything, but when he left, he left the Kirby with us. I had a TriStar and thought it was doing a great job, until I saw the results of this vacuum. It is heavy, and I think loud, but it does such a great job that I don't care. I have hardwood and carpet and I love the attachments for the wood and tile. It is the best and we will always have a Kirby in our home from now on!

I have owned a Kirby vaccuum for about 2 years and the name of it is the Sentria. It is by far the best cleaner in the world. I have read several consumer reports and it shows that there is not another cleaner compared to the Kirby. Not only does the Kirby really deep clean my carpet it shampoos, blows, and can do my mattress. When I say deep clean I really mean deep clean. The Kirby is the only one in the world. fI think I invested in a Kirby because I have severe allergies. I have hay fever, which I was told by my doctor was caused by dust mites. If some of you do not know of dust mites they are not good to breathe in. You can't get rid of all of them but you could reduce them if you invested in the Sentria. The fact that dust mites are present is not the real issue. It is what they do that is important. To put it in a nutshell. Dust mites live to eat dead skin, (In which we shed a whole layer every 28 days) Their waste from eating skin all the time puts out very harmful allergens,...

I have been vacuuming my home once a week and always seemed to have a lot of dust and dirt, as we have two young kids and a dog, so we always had a lot of dander and hair. .....I couldn't believe how much better it performed than my previous vacuum cleaner....You have 2 choices...1) spend money on several different vacuums throughout your life or 2) buy one Kirby vacuum....It's that simple...Why spend money on vacuums that don't work as well just because they are cheaper...Do yourself a favor and buy a Kirby and you won't regret it. The Kirby Sentria vacuum is great, the attachements are great, you have a vacuum, a blower, and a shampooer, a leather cleaner, a bubble blower for the kids, a mattress cleaner all in one. It's very pricey, but it should be the only vacuum that you will need to buy. Kirby is supposed to have a service, where they will bring your Kirby back to life (like new), if it breaks on you. Mine hasn't broken yet, so I can't say if that service is true or not. If you can...

I bought this vacuum about a year ago now. The rerason for my purchase is my son's asthma and I liked the fact that I could use it for multiple task. I had always heard of what a great product this was and anyone who I knew ever owned one loved it. I use it for everything, cleaning my car, vents, beds, curtains, floors, and just vacuuming. I will say I don't much care for the carpet shampoo attachments, but my husband is a flooring supervisor so we have professionals come out and do that for free. The cost is a little much but if you finance this like we did pay it off with in 6 months. It really says on interest. Over all I hae really enjoyed my purchase.

The salesperson did what most kirby salesmen do, Say they are starting a carpet cleaning buisness. And my mother had a worried look on her face when she saw it said KIRBY, however they used our current vacuum which worked very well ,But with the test circles they proved the kirby was better. after being at our home for 5 hours we were convinced and traded our old vacuum. its been 3 days and i have used almost all the attachments and they have lived up to their standards, and the suction is more than great. It can pick up nearly everything although it is sometimes difficult to move around in small areas, we dont have many so im not complaining. Lastly the Tech-Drive makes the vacuuming easier and dont have to fight with them like the old heavier ones i hope my children will be using this vacuum for their chores and by some of the stories i've heard they proably will

We just purchased our new Kirby Sentra a couple of months ago and I LOVE IT! It has all of the attachments you could ever need. It also is a great alternative to renting those expensive carpet cleaning machines that soak your floors. The parts are easy to find and relatively cheap (compared to the purchase price of the vacuum). It is so powerful that it actually vibrates the dirt out of the floors. It attacks pet hair on the floors and on the furniture. It can also be used on any floor surface. It even had a transmission to make the chore just a little but easier. And the absolute best part of this vacuum is the lifetime warranty. The main reason my husband and I agreed to pay so much for this mammoth is because we know we will never ever have to buy another vacuum cleaner again. Each kirby comes with its own specific ID number so parts are easy to order. The only downside I see to the Kirby is the price, but once again you get what you pay for. You get a solid vacuum that is built in America....

This was my second Kirby. I bought it because it is lighter than the G5, and more streamlined. Ran into trouble, however, when I tried to get bags. Every single Kirby dealer within driving distance was out of business. One even had a sheriff's note on the door! Ended up buying the bags on-line. Very disappointed after all the hype of the high-pressure salesmen. I paid $798 for this one; the last one cost $1300, so I thought I got a deal. The Kirby is very difficult to use on stairs and in small areas.
