SaraBeth87 says "Kirby Sentria-Paid for outstanding, but got average." about Kirby Vacuum Cleaner

Cons--Pushy Salesman--I purchased the new 2009 model Kirby Sentria a few months ago. The first problem with it was the salesman. Pushy is an understatment. I was home sick from work (with the flu mind you) and even told him that, but it didn't deter him from barging into my home to make a sale. At first he led me to believe that he was selling a carpet cleaning product. Once I finally agreed to let him give a demonstration, he went and got the Kirby Sentria out of the van with the other salesmen and they left, leaving him there alone with me and no way of going. When I realized he was selling a vacuum cleaner I told him repeatedly that I wasn't interested, nor could I afford it. Anyways, he ended up staying at my house for about 4 hours, so I finally agreed to buy it (paying notes of course) just so he would leave. I know this is dumb on my part, but I felt horrible that day and just wanted him to leave. He took my Dyson as a "down payment" which on the loan agreement papers totaled...
...

Corinne3669 says "The Kirby Vacuum Cleaner is too heavy and not good on wood." about Kirby Vacuum Cleaner

My husband was home with the flu, which is a rare occasion for him. A Kirby Vacuum salesperson came to the door and convinced him to buy the astronomically priced vacuum. It does have good suction, but I often find the handle/hose part falls apart. It does not attached well, like most vacuums. The Kirby is also very heavy! I find switching between the hard floor attachment and the carpet attachment is a nuisance. It works well on carpet, but not that well on our many laminate floors.
...

My husband bought me the 2008 Model of the Kirby Vacuum Systems. At first I was enthralled with the idea of the Kirby brand. I heard so much hype about it over the years, the thought that I had one of my very own was almost too much to handle. Unfortunately, those feelings quickly passed. I'll start with the vacuum it's self. The vacuum is mediocre if that. I mean, it does what it's supposed to. But valued at over one thousand dollars?? NO. Not even close. The shampooer is a joke. I have a kindergartener and 2 messy dogs so I was extremely excited about not paying eighty dollars a month on a professional to come out. Sadly, it doesnt even really "shampoo" anything. It spits out a bunch of suds and gets the carpet soaked and that's about it. There is nothing really special about this vacuum that would cause me to want to spend over a thousand dollars on it again. I wouldn't waste the money, just go to walmart and get a regular vacuum at a reasonable price.
...

I always wanted a Kirby it just sounded like every house should have one. It had multiple tools for cleaning your carpets, had tools for windows, ceiling fans, it had tools for steam cleaning your carpet it even had a paint sprayer attachment.. Wow all these items in one who would ever want another item.. Well I do.. I bought one thought I was special I could afford $1500 for a Kirby Millenium whoo Hoo.. Well it's heavy not easy for second level homes or stairs, the bag is very hard to get on when you have to change them, I tried to use the steam cleaner I had to change the water at least 10 times for a small bedroom. Changing the belt is very easy except when you have to rehook it back on the roller. You have to completely remove the front of the vacuum to hook up all the different attachments depending on what your cleaning. Then when it's time to do another room you have to start all over with hooking and unhooking the attachments. I definately would not reccommned this vacuum to anyone...
...

Several years ago, my husband talked me into trading a perfectly good Rainbow Vacuum Cleaner for this super duper Kirby Vacuum Cleaner. I rue the day, I let him talk me into this, and after struggling with this thing for years, he finally agrees with me. The Kirby is so inconvenient because you have to have more stamina, determination, physical strength and time than I have to fool with the thing. When you finish vacuuming the carpets, you have to redo almost the entire machine in order to vacuum regular floors or use the dusting tools. This is too much work, and by the time, I figure out how to change it over, I'm worn out and really don't feel like doing the cleaning. What good is this? Life is too short to spend it being frustrated, aggravated and defeated by a tool that's supposed to help you get the work done. This vacuum cleaner was not cheap either---the price is ridiculous. It cost way too much for the satisfaction we've gotten from it. If I could trade this...
...

Gidney says "Kirby is the ULTIMATE carpet vacuum." about Kirby Vacuum Cleaner

The Kirby vacuum is simply the best vacuum cleaner made. It will last a lifetime. Go to greatvacs.com and see what the experts have to say. It easily outperforms a Dyson. The sales tactics of the Kirby company are terrible. Only Kirby can sell a new Kirby, but many vendors sell refurbished Kirbys at a fraction of the price of a new one. I think it has too many attachments and they can be akward to use. We own a cannister vacuum and use its attachments. We don't use the cannister on the carpets. For carpets, we use the Kirby. Sure it is heavy and clunky, but that is why it lasts for decades. It is built like a tank. The Tech Drive makes it easy to push. I love our Kirby and would use nothing else on our capets. It is the best.
...

SBMoo says "The Kirby vacuum is a great investment!" about Kirby Vacuum Cleaner

I have been using the Kirby vacuum cleaning system for about a year now. I am so glad to have it!

You can vacuum almost anything with the Kirby, and it works wonderfully! It has lots of attachments and can help make your cleaning jobs easier. My favorite is the small furniture attachment! I love vacuuming my suede couch and leaving the nice vacuum lines! You can make the vacuum handheld and vacuum several other things like that. You can vacuum your car! There is also an attachment that will vacuum your mattresses! It can also shampoo, dust, paint walls, and vacuum up hard wood floors!! I use it weekly, and could use it more, I'm sure! It is ok to do once a week, though, because it cleans so well!

It is expensive, but I have definately made my money back! When I first bought it, I wasn't happy about the price! Now I am very glad I have it. I'm sure I have paid myself back in shampoos, vacuuming, and dusting/sweeping! I recommend the Kirby!
...

I have had my Kirby so long now, I don't really know how long I have had it. My home was not built long before buying the Kirby, so I had new carpet in three bedrooms, hallway, stairs, livingroom, and entertainment room. After 23 yrs of wear, we decided it was time to replace our carpet. The installers could not believe how clean my padding and floor was under the old carpet. They stated that usually they find more sand under the carpet than they find outside. I informed them that I cleaned with a Kirby vacumn cleaner. My carpet was so clean, they wondered why we were having it replaced. The reason, really was that we were tired of the old and just felt we needed to update the carpeting to a different color. It has been two yrs now, and our carpet still looks new. I purchased the shampooing kit with mine, and it is so easy to use. Yes, the Kirby is heavy, but it is power driven, or would one call it self-pepelled . My daughter n law vacumned for me one time and complained about it being...
...

My husband insisted we buy a Kirby Upright Vacuum when we got married "because Mom had one and they are the best". I was impressed by the salesman's presentation and decided to buy one. It did seem to have great suction but that was about all I can say about it. It did not get close enough to the walls and edges without using an attachment. It was too bulky to get under any furniture low to the ground. The attachments were never readily available. I live in a multilevel house and the attachments were always on the floor that the vacuum wasn't. Vacuuming the stairs was a nightmare, even with the attachments. The bags and belts were easy to buy at the local supermarket and sure were easy enough for myself to install. I think the Kirby is a classic and is good as vacuums go, but for the money, it was too expensive for my satisfaction. I admit that I used it for ten years but when the opportunity arose, I chose something lightweight, with good suction, and with...
...
