Taskmaster says "The HE5T worked flawlessly through 366 days. By the LG." about Kenmore Washer - Front Load HE5T

Bought the HE5t Kenmore Elite pair and thought it was the best on the market in 2007. A year later, the washer sounds like a freight train in the fog and rain. When it spins dry the clothes, you can hear it down the street. Squeeling, squeeking, clanking, it's just rediculous. Of course the drive system warranty lasts five years, but covers, get this, 'drive pulley and drive belt'. You must be joking. I read so many good things about the Kenmore over the LG, and regret like hell making that decision now. My friends own a salon, and have the LG's running around the clock and haven't had one single problem with any of them. Sears appliances are garbage and Sears, like their sister company Kmart are screaming out of business. That's what they get for ripping people off.
...

I've had the he4t for less than 3 1/2 years now and after more than 5 service calls in that time period, today I was informed that the bearings in the washer were going out.

So a $1500 machine lasted me less than 3 1/2 years - NOT a good investment.

When it worked, it worked well. The sad thing that it didn't work with any reliability and it's not worth the price at all. There will NEVER be another Kenomore (Whirlpool) appliance in my home again.
...

pillar says "It LEAKS; the boot between the door and drum failed three times." about Kenmore Washer - Front Load HE5T

Kenmore Elite HE 5t Steam clothing washer:

Sears has come out to repair a leak due to a faulty rubber boot twice. The rubber boot is a large gasket sealing the door to the drum. It is held on with a metal ring. It fell off twice. If we had to pay it would be $200 a pop.

Now that it leaks a third time in a year, they are saying it is our problem. Their "customer solutions " department is only a way to get you out of their hair as expediently and with as little cost to Sears as possible. Think of it as if you are dealing with an insurance claim. Just as painful. It may be a better value to sell this paperweight on craigslist and get a reliable machine from a local appliance dealer vs sears. Also, it smells of mildew if we keep the door closed.
...

I have had my Kenmore HE5t w/d set for over a year. I have been disappointed since day one. My husband's shirts and slacks that used to be wash and wear, I now send out to be laundered. My clothes come out twisted from the washer and wrinkled from the dryer, but what do you expect when the cool down cycle is only 4 minutes long. I feel my daughter's athletic clothes do not get clean (so I pretreat and put on 'heavy' wash, which I didn't do with the old machines). I have tried everything; numerous detergents and softeners, different automatic and manual cyles, different water temps. and drying temps., I have acutally sat in front of the machines timing cycles to see it they are operating properly, and lastly, of course, I have had the repairman out many a time.(One repairman said I knew more than any technician he had worked with) All said the machines were both working properly. I don't think so!-Not when the clothes are not completely clean and wrinkled. Not one repairman has been able...
...

Love this washer and dryer set. We bought the folding table which compliments the top nicely. Never before have my clothes felt so clean!! I would admit that the washer is not a quiet as I would've thought...but it really isn't bad. When I pull out my super clean clothes the sound is muted! I also enjoy the timed-oxi button.
...

We bought a Kenmore front-loading washer (HE5T) two and a half years ago. I never imagined I would spend that much on a washer but when we needed a new one, I really wanted a front-loader. At the time, we purchased the cranberry colour because it was a floor model and the sales person said we could have "extras" if we bought the set (washer and dryer) off the floor. We did (since we were looking for both a washer and a dryer). I was naive to think the bottom "drawer" came standard. If you want the drawers that make these taller and offer storage space, the drawers alone are about $250 each. I was glad they threw those in for free. We were also given this flat topper that went across the bottom of both the washer and dryer (as they sit side by side). I believe that is usually an extra $250. If we had the height-space and a main floor laundry, I would absolutely love to stack these two to save some room. However, as it is now, we have them in our basement that isn't tall...
...

The Kenmore Washer - Front Load HE5T is fantastic if you have a large family or just a lot of clothes to wash every week! I have been saving up for this item for a while and it is worth every dime that I put into it. It is a little bit pricey but again it is totally worth it. It is tall but not too wide so it fit where my last washer went perfectly, not to mention that it looks really great there too! It is very quiet and seems have a faster wash cycle then my old washer. It is very easy to use and cleans up very easily if you have a dirty load. I problem that I did encounter with it when I first go it is the door did not seal well which then caused it to leak a little. I did call the problem in and they came to fix it in a very timely maner with no questions asked. I have not had a problem with it ever sense. I would not recomend this item to anyone that does not have a lot of items to wash all the time becasue it really would be a wait of water and space.
...

Purchased the Kenmore HE5T front-load washer about a year ago and really like it. I especially like the ability to wash bulky items such as blankets and curtains, which I was unable to do before in my top-load washer. I also like that it spins the clothes much dryer than the top-load. I have many items that I do not put in the dryer and they dry much quicker now, even heavy items such as denim jeans.

I have not experienced some of the issues I've read in other reviews, such as clothes getting very tangled together and the machine shaking so much it moves.

I do think all of the pre-programmed cycles are not necessary as it is very easy to select a cycle then adjust the settings as you wish. I have only used the steam cycle once so probably would have been just as happy with the less expensive model that does not have the steam feature.

Overall, I am very happy with the Kenmore HE5T front-load washer.
...

This product is great! The extra large capacity is great for keeping up with our laundry. With 2 boys laundry used to be a daily event but now we can take care of it with 2 loads - which has saved us a ton of time. The spin cycle is also great to reduce the amount of drying time necessary. The stabilizers in the product is great so although the machine is on our main floor it is pretty quiet....

I love my Kenmore front load washer. It gets my husband's construction work clothes and my professional office clothes soooo clean...even the whitest whites. I have the pedastal under my machine which makes it the perfect height; plus great for storage. It's quiet, even during the fastest spin cycle. I got the machine when Sears was having a sale. I feel that I got one of the best machines at the best price around. I even negotiated to get the five year warranty at a great price. This is my baby and I treat her as one. No one else in my household can touch her. I don't know if I have the short end of the deal because now I am the only one who can do the laundry, but I don't mind. I love trying all of the functions & buttons on the machine. You can literally customize your own wash cycle and save it. I repeat...I Love My Kenmore Front Load Washing Machine....

This is the worst money I have ever spent! I bought the matching pair plus pedistals plus extended warranty.... It was delivered 3 weeks later.... Ok I can live with that. But the next day I had to go out of town for 2 months due to a death in the family.

I get home and try to use the machine.... After 2 days the machine stunk of mildew. I had to run the clean machine cycle 5 times before the smell went away. Then I found my soap in a big gunky clump inside the seal.... So most of the soap was not going into the machine and my clothes were coming out hard as a rock even with fabric softener. Not to mention that it uses so little water that some of the clothes are not even getting wet let alone coming out clean. I even backed my load down to 3 items and they were not coming out clean!!!!

After 2 weeks of using the machine I got an F9 error after the machine added water. The machine shut off with the door locked with water in the drum and my clothes. I could not get my clothes out of the machine....
...

I purchased the Kenmore Elite HE5T front loader a year ago. I wanted something that could wash large loads well. I have not been disappointed yet. With the options of prewash, soak, extra rinse, and sanitize (just to name a few); I can guarantee my clothes will be clean when the washer is done. They are also so much drier thanks to the stronger spin cycle.

There are a few things that you have to remember:
1. Always leave your washer door open until the washer is dry
2. Put small items in a laundry bag (I found baby socks and other small items under the seal)
3. Run the clean washer cycle every so often.. the next load will be that much fresher!
4. Most importantly, as with all washers.. remove clothes promptly!
...
