After 2 years of dealing with this machine, i've finally gotten rid of it. I've had the drum and motherboard replaced, yet I'd still get error codes. It makes a huge amount of noise and the mold issue is completely unacceptable. Sears has horrible customer service. I'll never buy from Sears again. I went to Lowes and had a wonderful buying and installation experience with my new Samsung front loader.
...

We've been through two Sears Kenmore front load washers in the last 8 years! Prior to that we had a Sears top load machine for 23 years. Like most things today, everything made is throwaway. Be prepared to spend an additional $200.00 + on extended warranty because it is evident that Kenmore has zero confidence in product that they put on the market.

Perhaps all washers are like that now; can't say but I do know that Kenmore is a product that consumers should avoid!

The HE2 Plus is no longer available.I loved my machine (when it was running)! Do your research on Kenmore, read the reviews because it is worth the time! Read them from every site you can find. It is important to leave reviews as well but one thing I suggest...wait 6 months to a year before you leave a 5 star rating! If you do write it early, go back and adjust your comment after it breaks down, no matter what model or brand you choose...you may just save someone from making the same mistake. I failed to leave a review after the first year of owning this machine and I feel awful about it. If you received a disfuctional machine keep after Sears to hear you out. It wasn't until we tweeted on Twitter that we FINALLY got some help. Sears is being very good to starighten out the issue for us I am totally impressed and excited that we may actually get to return to shopping at Sears again. We swore them off for a couple of years. Since the buy out from K-Mart we noticed all of the problems....
...

Our Kenmore HE2 Plus front loading washing machine vibrates horribly on spin cycle. It always has, and apparently always will until it's sitting where it belongs on a recycling heap. Don't waste your money and share our frustration, buy something else. Also, poor sales experience and anti-customer customer service did not help improve our opinion of this product. Better luck to you.
...

Nice machine in terms of cleaning clothes. However, what they don't tell you: Sears-specific machines require high-dollar, easily breakable parts. Upon our third part R&R - two for machine switches, and one for motor-control board (MCB), the tech. informed us not to buy Sears products again (yup, it was a Sears technician - that actually knew his stuff). Sears' parts are more expensive than are most competitors, as they are made only for Sears (something they don't readily tell consumers), meaning the prices for replacement parts will be higher. While most parts now are made in China, both PWBs I was able to see were poorly constructed, with Class I solder issues. In the case of he MCB, the somewhat conformal coated PWB (I have absolutely no idea why there was conformal coat on some of the board - including the components no less; not to mention flowed down into the board and into solder connection points which, hilariously, didn't contain ANY solder). The replacement MCB...
...

We bought our Kenmore HE2 washer and dryer 3 years ago, and have loved it. I'm a lazy laundry person and hate to handwash. I don't have to anymore. Because of the way it washes, I can put all my delicates and handwash in and they wash while I get other things done. I loved that the washer uses so little water and how quiet it was. The only thing that bothered me was to make sure there was no mold inside I had to leave the door open a little between loads, but I did that with a top load, the door just happens to stick out not up now. I will never go back to top load if I can help it.
...

We bought this washer 2 years ago with the promise that it would reduce my loads, I'd have cleaner clothes, the clothes would come out basically dry and I'd save on energy & detergent costs. Well, just over 2 years later, I now have a $500 repair on something the serviceman claimed he'd never seen before - a crack in the front drum. (and actually, I had to point it out to him). I certainly have never been too happy with this washer. The clothes take just as long to dry as my very old top loader, the machine has left large areas of spots on our clothes and we've had to throw them away and the "normal" cycle takes at least one hour but usually significantly more to complete. I called Customer Service to complain and all she said was, sorry but you don't have an extended warranty. I am livid and will definitely NEVER buy from Sears again!
...

I bought the Kenmore HE2 plus front loader 20 months ago. It stopped working so I called the sears repairman out which cost 129.00 for diagnostics. He told me the control panel was bad and it would cost 348.00 to fix it! I could buy another machine for less than that! But it will not be a Kenmore. Unless you have the extnded warrenty you are out of luck.

It is also energy efficeint (pfffftttt!) and it only dampens the clothes, it does not put a lot of water in the drum and my clothes were difficult to clean. I used to trust Kenmore over all others but NEVER again! This product is crap and needs to be recalled because the repairman stated that they have had many many complaints about this washer. BEWARE! It is NOT worth the money!
...

My washer door busted open during the wash cycle of course water

the problem so we could avoid paying a Technician.

If you have any problems with water filling up more than usual or water not

such as coins , lint , etc. builds up. Clean this every 2 months.

tortilla123 says "This is a good machine" about Kenmore Washer - Front Load HE2 Plus

This review is for a front loader washing machine that has made a tremendous difference in our lives. We have three children, two of which are toddlers and a third that is older and he claims the dirt and mud all find him. We purchased the machine a year ago to replace a 10 year old non energy efficient top loader washing machine which was also a Kenmore.

There are many reasons to purchase a front loader, two top reasons should be:

One that it only uses a small percentage of the water that is actually used with a older top loader. The best way to describe the difference is this: Older machines the utility tub fills up. This machine the water trickles out and only really fills to the very bottom of the tub maybe a inch of water. If you have kids, this is great because A. they all use too much water anyway so it greatly saves on the bill and B. When a sock or lint or a wash cloth gets left in the utility tub it will not overflow onto the floor and flood because it never gets that high even...
...

We bought this washer thinking, "If we pay $800+ for a washer it should last 10 years." Were we WRONG! The washer has always leaked when there are more than 6 towels in it and now we've been having some major leaking issues (too much water filling up and water gushing out the bottom and soap dispenser) and it's making a horrible sound.

We've had this washer for 3.5 years and not only had terrible customer service from Sears, but were told by the repairman that the main bearing is shot and so is the computer board. It would cost $800 to fix this so we might as well buy a new machine. Our small family is not overly hard on our machine so it's very disappointing it did not last longer. Needless to say, we would not recommend Kenmore products ever again (and our repairman would agree). Buyers be ware!

My Master Protection Agreement expires June 6th. I asked my husband if we should renew for 130.00 per year. I decided to read some reviews on my washer. After reading all the negative comments and nodding my head in agreement on almost all of them, I have decided against renewing the contract and letting this washer go to it's own demise - whenever that may be. I will probably go back to a top loading machine. I think the front loaders do get my clothes cleaner and dryer and save on energy and water use, but the negatives are pretty awful. The mold and smell of that rubber seal are impossible to fix. I have to leave the door open at all times to air it out. All kinds of nasty gunk gets behind that seal. A repairman told me that if loose change or other items get out of the drum it can jam the motor and ruin the machine. The machine does vibrate/rock a lot and it has chipped the paint off the dryer that sits next to it. I have had water leak into the pedestal drawer it sits on......

Kenmore HE2 Frontload washer might use less water, and might spin your clothes dryer, BUT my clothes are NOT cleaner. This is a tempermental washer that requires a more expensive laundry detergent, almost twice more $ than my old detergent, that literally makes my clothes STINK. My white clothes, like socks and underwear, are very dingy. This washer's load capacity isn't any greater than my old washer's. The sales staff at Sears claimed that this HE2's load capacity was greater, but due to the HE2's little tempermental mechanical limits, you really can't load this washer as full as you think you should. The big rubber gasket surrounding the door opening starts to loosen up over time and needs to be replaced. The detergent despensers accumulate mold. The washer acts up by refusing to lock itself, so that a cycle will not begin. This is a problem even when you use the recommended, overpriced HE detergent. I have to buy the allergy free type of detergent. Actually it seems...
...

yearsofexperience says "I love this washer, except for one little annoying feature." about Kenmore Washer - Front Load HE2 Plus

This Kenmore washer is very efficient, quiet, uses very little water and detergent and I like everything about it, EXCEPT, I do quite a bit of hand washing and I always used the washer to drain and spin my hand washables. It does not just spin, however, it rotates back and forth several times, then spins gently, then rotates again several times before it goes to a final spin. The reason I'm hand washing is to avoid abrasion to my better clothes. Why doesn't it just spin and avoid the agitation. It defeats the purpose of hand washing. I really can't use it for that purpose like I did in the past with my old machine. Other than that, as I said, this washer has many features that I like. The front loading is convenient and the capacity is more than adequate. Because I am short and I like to fold clothes on top of the unit, I chose not to get the optional storage unit for the bottom, but I think this would be a nice feature for many people.

The Sears He2plus washing machine was a total frustrating disappointment. On delivery, they didn't level it, which caused anything set on top of the machine to bounce off onto the floor. They didn't install a lint filter or say we needed one. For years there had never been a lint filter on our old machine & there was no problem. With this one we had water all over the place at least once a week. Even after we put a filter on and changed it every 5 or 6 days, it would back up because it made my bath towels threadbare and ruined anything that was nylon. The last straw was when there was a lint ball the size of a ping pong ball laying on the gasket just inside the door at the end of a wash. Sear's kept saying they had never heard of this before, yet when I bought an old fashioned ordinary top loader, for much less money, the delivery man said he had heard this many times.
...
