I purchased my Kenmore Progressive upright back in December 2005, my Hoover windtunnel after 8 years decided not to work anymore, of course right before Christmas. Brought the first one home, and that one didn't work, took back to Sears and exchanged for another one. I really love this vaccum. Since I have a child with asthma I use the cloth bags, they are more expensive but well worth the price. This vacuum really cleans up the dog and cat hair. And I love the fact I never need to buy belts, because of the direct drive. I have a large kitchen, and love the floor attachment. I feel the hose isn't as long as i want it. And there are times that when I'm vacuuming with the attachments I tend to pull and my vacuum falls over, I think it's the way it coils. That's the only problem I have with the vacuum. I have an extended warranty on my vacuum and I renew it every year, because I did have to have a motor replaced on my vacuum, but I still love my vacuum. Another con I have...

I had a $40 Black Friday special (Hoover Fold Away) which I discovered was the biggest piece of junk. I borrowed my mother's Kenmore canister vac that has the sensor lights on it which made up my mind. I bought my Kenmore Progressive with Direct Drive shortly after! This vac is heavier that the last but it does have a long hose and attachment for the stairs. I absolutely love the lights that tell you if your carpet is clean or not. My floors have never been so clean...that's embarrassing to say!

I have an area rug that everything sticks to. Before, I used to vac it then use a lint remover to get it "clean". Now all I do is vac until the light turns green. My cleaning is so much simpler now.

When I set out to nuy my new vac, I was ready to splurge. I went to Sears and found that this Kenmore is quite affordable, not only that but it was on sale!!! I think that this has been my smartest investment especially with today's economy.

I'm a man. I hate cleaning and if it weren't for the social embarrassment I probably would never do it. Just stating facts so far. So about a year ago my tiny piece of crap vacuum(which I'd had roughly as far back as my memory goes) died and I was forced to buy a new one. So like any good capitalist citizen I headed to a giant box store. There I encountered several pimple faced teenagers who for the most part were not sentient. Ahhhh. I digress. They had trouble pointing to anything but a $500 canary yellow automated robot that I was disappointed to discover could not actually do anything you'd expect a robot to handle with relative ease. No laser beams, no teleportation, nothing. All in all a letdown. So using the miracle of the internet I found a small locally owned store with a man who despite what I'm quite sure is classic paranoid schizophrenia was unbelievably well versed in the nuances of the modern day vacuum cleaners for domicile use. He was quite fascinating and he allowed...

This is a great combination of technology and product quality. The dirt sensor actually tells you when you're done cleaning a section of floor which is great b/c there is no other way to tell if a floor is actually clean. I always assumed lines in the carpet were a good indicator. ...

We have owned this Kenmore Progressive Direct Drive vacuum for 3 years and I am sure the carpets are cleaner than ever. It is quiet, as vacuums go. It has great filtration--I increase it by using good filtering bags.

Cons: It is heavy--luckily I don't have stairs. Edge cleaning leaves a lot to be desired.

1. 1. I just bought the Kenmore Progressive Direct Drive sweeper. Its very quiet and stylish and just love the Handi-Mate Jr that attaches to the hose for steps and upholstery. Its a good value too not $500.00 like some. Oh it does a great job getting the dirt up.

I like things comfortable, easy to use, quite and things that really work well. That is why I bought my Jeep Patriot and that is the very reason I bought this Kenmore Progressive upright vacuum. I had a Hoover upright Bag less which I did not like at all. I like the Kenmore because it is much quieter, easier to push and much cleaner, no dirty container to dump and no expensive filter to change every three months. I like the push button controls with the on/off switch in an easy to reach location with out removing your hand from the vacuum. Buying this Kenmore was a wise move on my part.

Had a Hoover Bagless vacuum which I did not like. Bought the Kenmore and love it. It is quite and light and easy to push and move around for it's size. I like the ease of turning it off and on. The off button is right at your thumb, unlike the Hoover which uses a push switch and took a lot more effort to cut it off. I will never buy a bagless vacuum again, they are dirty and you dump the container way to often. Also the filter clogs up quickly. With the bag vacuum you change the bag about once a month or even longer. When you buy the filter for the bagless it is at a high cost , therefore a bagless does not same you any money. The Kenmore is one of the best on the market....

We read EVERY review of every upright vacuum on the market. We test drove the Dyson - which we were positive we would purchase. To our surprise, the Dyson we tried pushedcheerios around on the floor (we have a one year old, so cheerio removal is high on our list). The front of the Dyson was simply too low -- I'm sure its a fine machine -- but its not the Kenmore. This thing tells you when the carpet is clean, works harder when the floor is dirtier, and even though its heavy to lift, its easy and light to use! It cost less than the Dyson and for us, works a TON better. We heart it. You should too....

I spent years getting hand me down vacuums or buying cheap ones. This past spring I splurged when i puchased a Kenmore Progressive. The biggest selling point was the dirt indicator lights. It has 5 easily visible lights that tell you when the area you are vacuuming is clean. I was amazed at how many times I had to go over each area until I got a green light. The first room, I spent 45 minutes vacuuming. Don't worry...I don't have to go over each area that many times now. Since I am using a good vacuum, my carpets stay cleaner. No more embedded dirt for us!

Some additional pros:

It has a bag. I have had bag-less vacuums in the past. They make such a mess when you empty them, especially for those of us with pets.

It has wonderful attachments. They all fit on board and it includes a Handi-mate Jr. with it's own rotating brush. I can leave the vacuum at the bottom of the steps and use the attachments all the way to the top.

It has an extra long cord. I can vacuum almost...
