Fantasmo says "Does the job okay." about Kenmore Elite Electric Dryer - HE 4

My Kenmore Elite Large Capacity dryer does the job okay, but on many ocassions, it doesn't dry the clothes completely and I'm having to put them through another dry cycle. So, the "Energy Saver" feature is almost a mute point. It has issues with leaving "spots" on my clothes as well. I believe a piece of the baked enamel has come off somewhere within on the drum. I had a dryer that did that before, as well. I do not especially care for the drop down door feature either. It makes it really difficult to get the clothes out of the back of the drum. I find I'm having to all but crawl inside the dryer to remove my laundry!

But, the machine was given to me. However, to replace it, I would look at something with a door opening from either side, and something that had a higher rating on drying time.

On the up side, it is a quiet running machine. The lint filter is right inside the door and is easy to remove & replace.

Kenmore Elite HE3 Steam 86762 / 96762 dryer

The Kenmore HE3 Steam 86762 (electric) / 96762 (gas) dryer differs very little from the larger and more expensive HE5 Steam model. As with its larger sibling, we are very impressed with the HE3 model, but have a few reservations about the new steam feature. The usual drying cycles will take very fine care of your clothing. The steam feature, however, won't completely "iron out" the wrinkles in all the garments.

Due mostly to the steam feature, the Elite HE3 Steam model costs about $200 more than the basic Kenmore HE3 dryer. This feature refreshes clothing with the use of steam combined with heat. How well the cycle refreshes is actually a personal preference. Those who plan on using this cycle to replace ironing may be disappointed, but those who are satisfied with just a bit of freshening to their clothes may be quite pleased. If you're expecting crisp, perfectly ironed shirts, you're likely to be dissatisfied. If a more casual,...

...

grungegreen says "Convenient for home, not large appartment" about Kenmore Elite Electric Dryer - HE 4

The Kenmore Elite (HE4) is quite a monster in terms of home-use (I was able to dry clothes in literally 15 minutes) but the load amount is minimal. It seems like the more you add, the less you really get. I tried putting 12 towels in there, and even after half an hour they were pretty wet. Unfortunately, most people interested in a dryer of this capacity are family homes with more than 'once-a-week' laundry days.

Fortunately for Kenmore, it will sell and have no financial heartache towards this model, but one thing I've found from this company is that most of their quality assurance goes into the sleek look and stamina of the product, NOT exactly the quality. Again: good product, but a bit reprehensive when attempting to do a lot of laundry at once.

On thing I would have to say about this specific model is that the power cord has been known to malfunction for no apparent reason. Most of the washer/dryer combos include this with their warranty, but be cautious when reveiwing a warranty...
...

This dryer sure has served us well over the past 3 years. Before purchased this 3 yrs ago, used to have to drive across town to a laundromat to dry mattress pads and other bedding in commercial dryer. Does a great job on jeans & work clothes & wife's delicates but do need to add dry towel to those smaller delicate loads that require low heat or things will sort of glop together & wrinkle. Great time saver plus saves energy besides doing good job. This "workhorse" is also quite the "showhorse" as it is a good looking machine.

...

We have had this dryer for three or four years now and have not had a problem with it. It is not the electric version but is the gas version. It dries clothes quickly and works quietly. No problems with service either. We have it serviced regularly and the repairman is here on time. So far it works just like advertised.
...

I have a 1 1/2 year old Kenmore Elite HE4 dryer (electric) which stopped working the 2nd week of August. It is now Oct 8th and I am still without a functioning dryer. I have had Sears repair people to my house six times over the past eight weeks and I am not any closer to having my dryer fixed. I have been sent defective replacement parts twice, had service people fail to show up after waiting at home for four hours, and have made repeated calls (over 20) to the Sears Service Center. I am extremely dissapointed in the poor customer service provided by Sears.

...
