We purchased our Kenmore Elite White Oasis ST 7.6 cu. ft. Capacity Gas Dryer on March 31st 09. I was excited to get this new dryer as I picked out what I thought was the top of the line kenmore dryer with the steam function. I have been disappointed in a few major areas, and majorly disappointed with Sears lack of concern for the issues I have brought up to them.

Installation
We had the Kenmore Elite White Oasis ST 7.6 cu. ft. Capacity Gas Dryer installed on April 2nd. I got a call that morning and was told that my supposed "multivent" dryer could not be vented on the right like it indicates on their website but only in the back. Ok so I gave up on that and bought an adapter from Lowes to make it work. I noticed though that there website still has not been corrected as of today. Aug 13th. So be aware that this dryer only vents in the back no matter what the info says

My old dryer would take HOURS to dry the clothes, finally got rid of it! I was fortunate to have a well informed sales lady at Sears, because she informed me I would need a FLAT BACK dryer for my laundry closet-since I did not have a large amount of space BEHIND the dryer!! There went my grandiose plans of supersized dryers. My options were limited to 3 gas dryers that had a flat back. One of which was the GE I was getting rid of-so that was out of the question. The 2nd dryer door opened like an oven door does--and it never would have opened in my closet-because the bifold doors would have blocked it, which left me with the Kenmore Elite. I read a few reviews about the Kenmore Elite and they were all good. This dryer is incredible. I was able to fit it into my limited space (afer removing the floor molding-but who cares-it's inside a closet!) (I cannot open the dryer door fully because of my blocking bifold door-but that doesn't stop me from loving it!) My clothes...

My Kenmore washer/dryer of 13 years finally bit the dust. We replaced them with the Kenmore Elite Oasis series. I went a step up on the dryer and bought the steam version. I love it. I can throw a pair of my husbands Dockers or polo shirts in and it knocks the wrinkles out. No more ironing for me! (Maybe not completely, but it sure will reduce it by a lot!)

It drys fast too. I was able to put a sleeping bag in there and it was dry in about 45 min. My old one would have easily taken 2 cycles to do the same thing (but I don't think the sleeping bag would have fit in there).

I highly recommend spending the extra $150 bucks to add the steam option. It saves a lot of time for already busy moms!

What my review details is one lousy job of installation for which I paid $250. The guy did not use the venting material that came with the dryer and did not insure my existing vent worked or was detached. I know it sounds too bad to be true but when I went back to the area after he left the dryer on to burn off excess oil I noticed dust being blown all over the place. Of course the installer had already pulled away from my house. So here I am with a darn good dryer and no venting system. I am at this minute waiting for Sears to clean up this lousy job and better yet get a new installation crew....
