I hve had a similar experience with the Kenmore 54701 dehumidifier after about 3 years of use (only use in the summer). It got very loud and is no longer working at all. For an expensive dehumidifier it is very diappointing,. I would not recommend Kenmore dehumidifiers to anyone after this experience.

I bought my Kenmore 54701 new from Sears in June, 2005. Since then I have had four problems. In 2006, 2008 and 2009 a new evaporator was in stalled. A month after the last repair it doesn't run at all. I'll contact Sears - I think it is a lemon, but if there is no satisfaction, I'll be looking for a new brand.

I had a kenmore 54701 dehumidifier and it broke after 4 months of running it 8 hours a day 4 days a week.I lost my receipt so i was out all my money.Most dehumidifiers are easy to use and it did do its job for 4 months but i am going to try and find a more reliable model.

After four years, the dehumidifier is making horrible noises and no longer works. I'll write more after I get an estimate on the repair.

This Kenmore dehumidifier works so much better than the other brand we had. It is quiet, really takes the moisture out of the air fact, and is energy-start rated--a big plus since we run it almost constantly in the basement.

The Kenmore Dehumidifier is a little high, but when you have a need for it you really should look at the Kenmore brand name. The company has been around for awhile so you know someone is trusting there product and so should you. When you have moister in the air it will ruin wood all through your home. Do you have a lot of people in your home that take really hot showers and steam up the walls. After awhile your paint and wood will take in all that moister and you will wish you took the money and the time to invest in a dehumidifier. Now when you do be sure to check out Kenmore....

the kenmore dehumitifier works just great for me and keeps my air clean fresh and smelling nice. if you spray some lysol in the kenmore dehumitifier it will make your home smell just great. and i breath alot better when i use the kenmore huhmitfier. "I OVE IT"...

I live in a home that is very tight. It holds moisture during th winter and summer. I bought the Kenmore Dehumidifier 54701 three years ago. It removes moisture and warms the room. It makes a little noise, but it sure is worth it. There is one thing that my wife does not like about it. It takes the moisture from her house plants and she has to water them more often. I think that it was a good buy and I would recommed it to anyone....

The Kenmore Dehumidifier I bought was a lifesaver. When I could not get a restoration company to come in and dry my basement from a disaster of 4 inches of water, this dehumidifier did the trick. Once the water was pumped out with my sump pump, this little marvel did the rest. All I had to do was plug it in. It cannot overflow with an automatic shutoff. The bucket is easy to empty with its own carrying handle. I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

The Kenmore Dehumidifier is worth every penny. It is the most reliable one on the market. We have had ours for over 5 years and never had a problem with it . We also bought another one with a warranty and after 2 years it was not working up to par so we brought in to have it checked out. The guy at the service department said they could not fix it but we were entitled to a new one which we went to pick up that day . It has not given us a bit of trouble. I would recommend this product to anyone that needs a dehumidifier. It works and further more it quieter then all the rest and believe me that is very important.The two ways to empty the water are great asset as well . Either hook it up to a hose and drain it outside or into a sump pump or just empty out the container when full.

Helps you breath better at night. People with breathing problems such as asthma it helps you sleep better at night. I am a person with asthma and there are plenty of nights that its hard for me to breath but with a dehumidifer its puts air into the room and takes oiut what should not be there They are nice for kids because they can't burn themselves or anythign like that. The more expensive they are the better they probably work Depending on your room size you may need a bigger one also which would be more expensive then a smaller one...

This review is for the Kenmore 54701 Dehumidifier, but it can be applied to many other (maybe all) dehumidifiers, as we've certainly tried our share. In a sentence, while removing humidity they throw hot air throughout the room.

Many of us that need humidity removed from our homes, also would like the heat, even though it would be dryer heat, to also disappear - therefore a dehumidifier will not only make your air conditioner run longer, on a higher setting, it's a case of one appliance running against another.

Also, though this along with others have auto-shutoffs on them, when the water reservoir is full, keep an eye on them just in case, well, because you just never know. Once the reservoir is full, if you let it just sit there full of water that's been pulled from the air, (for example if you're not home and the dehumidifier is left running), and it stops, you'll not only have hot air from when it was running, you'll possibly have a moldy watery mess that's very full inside your dehumidifier...

We bought the Kenmore 50 pint dehumidifier after our

basement flooded. It was a bit more pricey compared to

other brands, but totally worth it. The machine is very

powerful, but is very quiet. Its amazing how much water

this machine can suck in from the air! It is very easy to use

also.
