I love learning toys. My children are ages 4 months, 2 years, 4 years, 7 years, and 11 years and we tried legos with the first 2 for many years to try and strenghten their fine motor skills. they were never into them, the just would get frusterated and give up. i know many other kids that enjoy legos but that was just not my kids. we decided to give knex a try when they were on a great sale, i think they are a bit pricy. We put together the first one as a family to get used to them and see how they worked. The next one was put together with out any help buy my boys! i think they are a bit easier to figure out than legos, but i never expected them to catch on that quickly with our past expierance with legos. we have bought several sience then and have a great luck. i would recomend these to any kids but those who struggle with fine motor skills and arnt quite ready for lego, is a perfect match!
...

K'NEX is a wonderul toy for kids. There are types for younger kids called Kid K'nex, and tubs and bins for older kids that have many more pieces.

This educational toy requires planning as to what pieces are to be used. The pieces just snap together and are lots of different cool colors and shapes. There are motors, wheels, lights and much more... Books come with the sets, as well as resources online for even more builds. Children get so much joy out of creating something by themselves.

A teacher I know told me a story about her students that always stuck with me.

This teacher had two 5th grade classes. When the students came into class, they would pick out a puzzle to do before work began. K'NEX was a favorite choice. Once the classwork began, the students excelled more and were quite productive, and grades reflected it.

The same day, her second class came in, but they had not had time to do their puzzles, K'NEX...etc due to scheduling. This class did not do as well as the previous...
...

K'Nex are great toys for children 7 and up. The small parts need to be kept away from youngsters, and are also best in the hands of a child who is not difficult about putting away toys. They are fun for children as well as adults to put together, and allow for creativity and imagination....
