I missed Journey to the Center of the Earth when it was in theaters, so I didn't get to see it in 3D on the big screen. After seeing it in HD on the small screen, I wonder what it would have been like at the movies. I will DEFINITELY be seeing the sequel at the theater (whenever that comes out is still unknown).

Journey to the Center of the Earth follows Trevor, a scientist, who is looking for his long lost brother. His brother was a scientist and a dreamer who believed there was something at the center of the Earth, however his brother has been missing for 10 years. When Trevor's nephew comes to visit, he notices an extra blip on the radar screen that Trevor has been tracking since his brother went missing. Trevor, of course, has to investigate. Sean, the nephew, can't wait to go either. Together they fly to Iceland to follow the blip on the radar as well as follow some of his brother's notes and writing. Hannah joins them as a hiking guide, but not even she was expecting...
...

Journey to the Center of the Earth (2008) 3-D Movie with Brendan Fraser was a very entertaining movie to see with family or friends. The 3-D special effects are great, from the dinosaur to the people falling and falling and falling. The movie is different from the original movie but still similiar to it.

Trevor Anderson (Brendan Fraser), a scientist and school professor who studies the earths core, and who really wants to find a major discovery in the world decides when his nephew comes for a visit to try and uncover some of the clues that his father left for him when he took his journey to find the center of the earth.

They get alot more then they bargained for along the way! They end up with a major discovery as they go to the center of the earth. They find giant plants, little birds that glow in the dark, and of course, dinosaurs too!

Its a great movie basically for anyone to see. I would recommend it to any one!

...

Hi,

I just recently purchased the blu-ray version of Journey to the Center of the Earth, in 3-D. I did research to see if it was worth buying, but most of the answers I read online, were vague.

So I want to give a definite answer, whether the blu-ray, 3-D version of Journey to the Center of the Earth is worth buying. The answer is yes.

The 3-D is 3-D and it is a fun movie. I was told that the DVD version in 3-D is terrible. So I don't reccomend it. Only buy the blu-ray version, if you want 3-D.

Well I hope you enjoy the movie.

Sincerely,

Stephen L.
This movie was way overrated. The plot was dull, the graphics terrible, and the acting bad. It was a total waste of time and money. Even Brendon Frashier couldn't save this movie. I was extremely disappointed. My advice is don't waste your time or your money watching this movie....

Journey to the Center of the Earth was the most amazing 3-D movie of 2008! With AMAZING special effects, and great actors, this Sci-Fi/Comedy is guarenteed to entertain children and parents alike. While children marvel at the amazing 3-D creatures and scenes before them, parents are just glad that this movie can keep their kids from fidgeting and talking.

A great family movie for all, Journey is definately a must-see.
...

Journey to the Center of the Earth 3-D proved to be a good choice for me and my kids. It had all the elements of a family movie combined with enough excitement to keep the boy's attention.

I've never been a huge Brendan Frasier fan. I think a lot of his roles are corny. Somehow he pulled off the role of a science professor in Journey to the Center of the Earth though. It wasn't a stellar performance, but I was impressed.

The idea of seeing a 3D movie and getting the glasses was a thrill for my kids. I had never seen a 3D movie either so it was a new experience for all of us. I'm not gonna lie, there were moments where I was jumping out of my seat. Fish with sharp teeth were jumping right out at us and there is a scene where the characters are riding in a mine shaft and it feels like you are on a roller coaster simulation ride.

As a whole, we enjoyed the movie. I recommend Journey to the Center of the Earth 3-D for families with kids who are outgrowing the cartoon movies, but aren't ready......

This 2008 movie update of Jules Verne's classic sci-fi/fantasy novel uses the 1864 tale as a template, with its hero, scientist Trevor Anderson (Brendan Fraser), referring to his missing brother's notes on the novel. His nephew Sean (Josh Hutcherson) in tow, Anderson travels to Iceland to investigate his sibling's theories, enlisting a fellow scientist's daughter, Hannah (Anita Briem), as a guide. Soon the trio's Icelandic mountain trek descends into a cave and, then deeper still to, naturally, the center of the earth, where dinosaurs and...

...

Saw this move on opening day in 3-D. First, I would not waste the money or time to go see this if it was not showing in 3-D. The 3-D effects were the best part. The move does not have much of a plot. The movie spent too much time getting to the center of the earth. Once there, I was hoping for more than one scene with a dinosaur. Kids had fun. I heard a lot of crying babies in the theater. I guess parents think that small children and babies will be watching this? Overall, fun for kids but not for adults really....

This modern entry into the 3-D genre, or "Real-D" as the process is now called, has a lot of fun scenes where they play with the special effects. Most are expectedly gratuitous, but are fun because they are obviously gratuitous.

Not a true remake of the classic film, but there are several instances where they are literally following the book. It centers on a geologist (Brendan Fraser), nephew and beautiful guide in tow, retracing the steps of his geologist brother who disappeared years before. They do so a little too successfully, finding themselves trapped in the world within our world. There are a lot of adventurous scenes that will thrill young children but leave adults scratching their heads as to why anyone would enter that particular situation in the first place. The characters have a lot of good chemistry, but some of the token nods to actual science either needed to be further fleshed out or dropped altogether.
...
