Jenlhk says "Regret my purchase" about Jenn-Air Electric Oven

We remodeled our kitchen 7 years ago and were VERY excited to get the Jenn Air double wall mounted oven with timer delay, convection, self-cleaning, etc. It was at the upper end of our ability to spend but we figured it would be worth it, considering how long ovens last. WRONG! Just before the warranty ended we could no longer read the control panel. The technician that repaired it did not have favorable things to say about the oven. This has gone out two more times. The top oven door doesn't close properly so the oven light stays on unless we put something between the door and the button to turn the light off. I have just learned that this problem is so common they offer a repair kid (all it takes is money). Luckily my husband can repair the panel himself but it costs about $100 each time. We have determined that it gets ruined whenever we use the selfcleaning feature so now I have a very expensive non-self-cleaning oven. Grrrrr. More recently in the last 6 months the...
...

Maxlef says "My Jenn-Air oven is the best I've ever used!" about Jenn-Air Electric Oven

When my husband and I had our house built, we really went all out on our kitchen. The one appliance I insisted on was a Jenn-Air Electric Oven with a glass cooktop. It not only is the best looking oven I've ever seen but it is the best oven when it comes to cooking bar none. I was always a good cook but now I don't have to worry about anything getting ruined, everything thing turns out perfectly cooked. I love to entertain and my Jenn-Air Electric Oven makes it easier then ever. There is so much room inside the oven, I can make everything all at once and then keep it warm until served. If ever I change my home or redo my kitchen the first thing I will replace is my oven, with the newest Jenn-Air Electric Oven on the market. This way I won't ever have to worry about disappointing my guests, because when I cook or bake on my Jenn-Air people leave my house very satisfied and that means the world to me.

geotech says "worst appliance we ever bought" about Jenn-Air Electric Oven

We purchased the electric Jenn-Air wall oven with a microwave atop it. From the get go, we had problems. When on broil, it melted the plastic on the door of the microwave, then about six months later, the electronic display disappeared and we can't tell what the thing is doing. We replaced a Kenmore oven with this thing, and i think it's the biggest mistake in purchasing we ever made.
...

DeniseDonohue says "Would not buy Jenn-Air anything again." about Jenn-Air Electric Oven

I am mostly frustrated with my Jenn-Air dishwasher (not listed here), but the stainless-steel, double oven (electric and convection) hasn't been a treat either. Six years old, was top of the line (I thought). Three years into purchase, the LCD panel began fading. Got to point you couldn't read oven temp, timer or anything. Cost $400 to repair - thankfully, happened a week before warranty expired. Dodged that bullet. Sometimes it doesn't hold the temperature and something you're baking won't get done. I think it is possibly the oven doors, which sometimes won't stay completely shut. I asked the repairman - who was here for the Maytag refrigerator (3rd visit) - and he said that hinge failure on these ovens was common, and that they specifically make a hinge kit to fix it. He added that apparently the engineers used too weak of a hinge for the heavy stainless-steel doors! Hinge kit plus labor will cost me $400 - for an engineering mistake!! So I guess we will continue to...
...

donnasherman says "have owened 2 of these, wouldn't own anything else." about Jenn-Air Electric Oven

Built a house in 1984, and put in a Jenn-air electric oven/stove, with the venting fan between the burners. There is no overhead venting to this oven. The center filter comes out very easy ,and to clean it , you run hot water over the filter, for a few seconds. About 3 times a year I clean it very well with a little dish soap, and a mild brushing. The burners come completely out, for easy cleaning. This is the best appliance I ever bought.

In 2000 we moved to another house and remodeled the kitchen. I considered another brand oven, and decided to get another Jenn-air. I wasn't happy with the options I had on the other brands. You can remove one side of the burners and put a griddle on it for frying several pieces of bacon or pancakes, and you can use it for an inside grill, on those windy days, by removing the griddle and adding grids. And the quality of this oven, I have never had a problem with either one of these I have owned.
...
