I like this series, due to the fact that they are trying to stop all of these people from being drunks and drug addicts. I personally do not see the draw that drugs and alcohol have......I just believe that being emotionally strong should be enough.
...

pitcherday says "Raw emotion and stunning realism" about Intervention

Intervention is an actual reality show. That is, it's about actual lives and isn't scripted. At first when it was advertised, I was afraid that it might make it seem like all you have to do is get the family together and the addict recovers. No.

First of all, for the most part, the addicts don't realize they are being filmed for "Intervention" until they are actually confronted. The few that do figure it out try to get out of it. I thought with the popularity of the show, more and more addicts were going to be wise to the whole being filmed thing, but as it turns out, addicts are busy doing other things and not usually tuning into A & E.

This show doesn't just profile people addicted to alcohol or narcotics. There are people with eating disorders and other self-destructive behavior on here too.

This show is real. Finding out why people turned to these behaviors is disturbing and makes me feel for them. The effect on their families, especially their children is hard to watch. Those people...
...

I absolutely love the show Intervention!!!!!! I tape all the episodes and watch them usually after the kids have gone to bed so I can hear it all_LOL!! Every episode is different.....may be the same problem as before but it's interesting to see how it affects each family. I feel sorry for some of the people while the others I just want to slap and tell them to wake up! If you ever feel like your life sucks, just watch an episode to see what others are going thru and it will make your life seem wonderful. I always like to see the very end where it shows where the person is today and how long they have/haven't been sober.
...

jank1708 says "Extremely interesting" about Intervention

I have watched several episodes of the show Intervention and it amazes me to see that people are so addicted to things that they are on the brink of death and seem to enjoy being that way. I can't believe the way the addicted people look and they way that they live. It is scary to see people in those kinds of situations. And some of them end up not wanting any help. And then others try to get the hel and eventually end up right back into their addiction. It is a very interestng show to watch.
...

Intervention gives you both perspectives of the addict and the family and friends of the addict. Its very raw and can be a bit hard to watch but very touching to someone that at some point in their life has been affected by either the drug itself or the addict....

The real cases on Intervention just break my heart. It is so sad to see these people caught up their addictions. I am so happy when they end on a positive note. For those who fail the recovery, I pray that they will find intervention before it is too late. ...

The show doesn't glorify drugs for once. It really gets into how drugs can affect someone's lives. A show I'd reccommend to watch with teenage children so they can really see how drugs affect you....

stef42678 says "Serious Reality Drama" about Intervention

This is a serious dose of reality television. The show is all about intervention with real life people and how it effects not only the addicts but also their families. Most shows focus on people that are seriously addicted to drugs or alcohol. Each episode is gripping because you not only get to spend a day in the life of the addict, but you also see how it tears their families apart until they cannot stand it anymore and must start an intervention. The intervention brings the addicts to their breaking points and some give in to treatment and others you see go even further off the edge. I always find myself rooting for the families in the hope that they can help their loved ones get their lives together. The dose of real reality is when there isn't always a happy ending. This show airs on A&E and is a dose of gripping reality drama....

i watch this tv show with my 16 year old daughter and it allows us to openly discuss problems that people have when they have addictions, and it also creates a way for me to encourage her to never use drugs. the show also covers eting disorders, and gambling among other things that should be talked about as well....

This show always makes me cry. I'm not a drug addict, nor are any of my friends or family, but this show really touches me. I can't even imagine how these families must feel. I always hope that the person gets better, and sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. I wish they would do more follow ups on some of my favorite episodes....

Telpher says "This show is addictive" about Intervention

When I first heard about Intervention, I thought it was a sick idea: film an addict as he or she undergoes an intervention. How freaking tacky!

And then I watched. The show isn't tacky, at all. In fact, it's really well-made, with the docoumentarians never intervening (except in one case, where the subject seemed to be teetering on suicidal behaviour.) Each episode starts by introducing one or two people, eachof whom had an addictionof some sort. The subjects might be drug addicts or alcoholics, but they may also be people with eating dosorders or gambling problems, etc. There is no interviewer seen or heard: it's simply an exercise in watching the addict living his or her everyday life, watching and listening to how the people around them react, and following the subjects through the routines that addicts invariably develop: begging and.or stealing for money to fuel their addictions, confrontations with friends and family, long days and nights spent lost in addictive behavior. Theoretically,...
...

I love fun reality shows but I also really enjoy watching shows that are real and come from the heart. One show that I often find myself weeping while watching is Intervention on the A&E channel. It is amazing to see the lows that people reach and the lengths that families will go to get their loved ones who are addicted to drugs and alcohol into rehab and back into the real world of the living. By far, the most riveting aspect of the show is the intervention and the follow up.

The Show

This show focuses on people with addictions that are so out of control that their families and friends feel they will die if the victims don't get help immediately. The subjects think they are being filmed for a documentary and have no idea that an intervention is being planned.

We watch as the subjects destroy themselves shamelessly in front of the cameras shooting up, snorting, drinking, and sometimes even by binging and purging and allowing themselves to waist away with anorexia. It's a tough watch. Seeing...
...
