I am an Indiana University - Bloomington grad. The size, location and wide academia education this school encompasses, offers something for almost everyone. If you want your child to have an overall grasp on reality in the real world, and not some secluded environment in which they have been raised and educated prior to college, this is the place. The campus is lovely. Lots of exercising from walking all those acres! A student can participate in a multitude of extra-curricular activities. There are so many classes from which to choose, that there is an appropriate educational level of each course for each student's particular needs. Tutoring and assistance is in abundance. You are exposed to a wide variety of students from across the nation, not just your own backyard. This assists you greatly, after you graduate and are thrown into the real world work environment, where you are immediately exposed to others' beliefs. In that respect, you learn how to listen, adapt,...
...

Indiana University is a fabulous university to attend. I attended for my four years of undergraduate school. IU has outstanding faculty that are well renown. The teachers come to class always prepared and really want their students to succeed. I was not only required to take classes dealing soley with my major, but I was required and recommended to take classes outside of my expertise which I believe truly helped me form a more well rounded education. IU does not only provide great academia but also a great love for the arts. Every year IU as well as the city of Bloomington provide numerous festivals for the arts and also a variety of plays and musicals stop by Bloomington to perform for the students and community. Bloomington, Indiana is beautiful and the campus is no different. Because of IU's former president, Herman B. Wells, IU is covered with woodlands which provides their students with a great atmosphere for learning. Overall, Indiana University is a great school to go to. It provided...
...

melk says "The best little big-town college around." about Indiana University-Bloomington

Indiana University of Bloomington has everything to offer, from wonderful academics to and outstandingly beautiful campus (rated one of America's top five most beautiful campuses). The campus and town was featured in the movie "Breaking Away". Do some research about the school or go and visit and most are sure to fall in love with it. I must admit though, I am slightly biased as I've lived in Bloomington all my life. But perhaps that says something, I've lived here all my life and have not once considered moving away. To put it simply, it is a good school and has a great campus and college life. It may not be the best college for someone who just wants to settle down and focus solely on academics and grades and has no sense of fun. (It was also rated America's top party school a few years back!). The college and town is a good place to get away from all the hustle and bustle of a big city, but is not so small that everyone is going to know when you wore the same jeans twice. Give it a...
...

I attended IU Law from 2006-2009. IU Bloomington is an outstanding place to get an education. College town atmosphere is fun and comfortable, and the student body is uniquely friendly and supportive. My only complaint is that sometimes people forget that you can have fun without just getting drunk. I guess that's college life.
...

IU is a good school if you go by the classes and the teachers, but it has a party reputation for a reason. One look at the student body will tell you how serious they are about their education. It's easy to fall into the mindset when you're surounded by it. The majority of students show up to class in sweats and half-asleep. The larger the class, the less likely that more than a third of the students are awake and actually interested in the material. The parties on campus are outrageos and by the dozen....

Indiana University Bloomington is a great school. I attended this school for 2 semesters and didn't want to leave! There are so many classes it is unreal. The campus literally looks like a wildlife reserve or park. There are so many activities and free events (great for broke college students) that you won't be bored! The town is a great college town also! There is so much diversity on and off campus. Bloomington is a great town to spend 4+ years attending school. It is a small town with big city diversity thanks to the university. Indiana University cares about it's students and whether they succeed. The school has high standards and will hold you to them. The buildings on campus are awesome. The student union is great! Computers, restaurants, pool tables, and activities aplenty! The main library on IUB's campus is 10 stories tall and that is only the undergrad side!! There are also many other smaller libraries located all over campus and in the different schools. The business and education......

If I could do college over again, I would have tried to go somewhere else. IU just wasn't the experience I thought I was going to get. The diversity is great and I met a lot of people but you get lost in the crowd. I have a double BS and 4 minors so I kinda got my money's worth but I don't really feel like I learned much. I learned so much more in one year of my Master's than I did at IU for five years. I don't think professors hold people to as high of a standard as they should so I don't think I got nearly as much out of my education as I should have. ...

I attended IU for graduate school in Counseling. I graduated in 1995 and found I couldn't get a job in WI, MI, IL, IN, or OH without an MSW degree. Funny, my counseling program never told me that. Indiana didn't have licensing requirements for counselors until long after I'd left the state and I was there until 1997. So, their program did not prepare me for licensure in any state. To this day I am still trying to get all the credits I need to be able to sit for the licensing exam in my state. It has caused multiple employment problems for me and my Mother doesn't understand why I can't get a job since I, of course, have a fully-paid-for Masters degree. Well, I wasn't prepared properly and no one bothered to prepare me for that reality.
...

I feel that I earned a good education at Indiana University Bloomington. I graduated with a BS in Computer Science in december 1999 and have been employed ever since as a Systems Analyst at a leading research based pharmaceutical company. I was very impressed with the beautiful campus and challenging CS courses in which I learned some great fundamentals.

One nice thing about the degree is that there are numerous other individuals who share the same alma mater. That can only increase your chances of success in the workplace as you may have an immediate bond with several individuals. It's strange, we do think alike and can really deliver on the new analysis that companies need.
...
