Inboxras says "Ice Age - Truly one for the kids, the humor is unending." about Ice Age

Ice Age - Ray Romano is certainly the voice to have for the big animal. I could have imagined Robin Williams as it, but Romano certainly lends humor to where this film really NEEDS it. The first part before it even gets going is that loveable, what do you call him character that just has to push that egg nut all the way around kingdom come before he even gets to eat it. AND when he tries to eat it - IT"S TOO HARD! So he tries to heat it. And what does it do, POPS! If this isn't comic relief, what is? My wife and I were hysterically laughing right from the beginning. The story line is too serious with the Indians fighting off the Tigers - Leave the baby alone! But all they were thinking of was LUNCH. Well, I hoped that the little indian baby would not be hurt, but boy did those tigers SCARE me. In the end I'm glad that the chicken hearted tiger, saved? the boy.

Almost like a sequel number 3 to LION KING. Where's Elton John?

This movie would rate a G in my book!
...

I saw the trailers for Ice Age and made plans to see it. I was taken by the quality and depth of the story behind it.
Children of all ages will find this movie captures their attention and holds them spellbound. The characters include a woolly mammoth, a sloth, a saber tooth tiger, and a small human child. Together, this small band comes together to return the child to his father, with many funny incidents along the way. It is a tale well crafted with many twists and a few tears, as it goes on to redefine the concept of family.
...

This is a very cute movie. It is about a mammoth, a sloth and a sabertooth tiger who are returning a baby to his family. It is such a great movie for kids and adults. My oldest daughter started watching it when she was about 2 and became addicted to it. She then got her cousin into it and now her little sister. We have watched it probably over 100 times. It is so great we bought the second one too....

vivasuzi says "I can't stand the cold, but I can stand Ice Age!" about Ice Age

I have seen this movie at least 10 times since 2002. Although it is on TV a lot, it's not the same as watching the DVD. You will never be able to completely simulate the Theater experience (which was really great), but if you get a big screen TV and some nice speakers you'll get pretty close! Hopefully this review will prompt you to rent the movie and try to catch Part 2 as well.

Plot
The movie begins with a squirrel wandering through the ice trying to bury his nut. This squirrel scene has little to do with the movie but is funny and gets you into the feeling of ice and snow and "the Ice Age". The movie really begins with animals of all species migrating away from the ice to find someplace warmer.

Animal 1: Well, why not call it the Big Chill or the Nippy Era? I'm just saying', how do we know it's an Ice Age?"
Animal 2: Because.. of ALL.. THE ICE!!

A mammoth is travelling TOWARDS the ice. Then there is a sloth, Sid, who wakes up to find his family has left him. He manages to tick off some......

ChrisJarmick says "Better than average amusing animated family film." about Ice Age

Need a warm amusing family film that has enough charm and laughs for adults to enjoy (at least once ?) This one might work. The 2 disc DVD is packed with with extras, games and more to keep the young ones entertained a long time. The short subject is fast paced and silly.
The film borrows its structure and some ideas from the near classic Western, Three Godfathers. It might add an extra level of interest for those familiar with that film.

The voice work of Ray Romano, John Leguizamo (whose becoming as annoying as Gilbert Gottfried). and Denis Leary who does very little Leary schtick, is all quite good. Sometimes the music got on my nerves, though.

The animation look is different and simpler/ cheaper than Bug's Life, Toy Story and Monsters Inc.

For nearly an hour I was surprised with how much fun I was having watching the film with the kids. It was much better than I was expecting. However interesting variations, character development, and fresh jokes nearly stop dead in...
...
