I have been a customer of ING now for 2 years. They have great on-line accesss now - not so a year ago but they have greatly improved their sight. I have checking, savings, CD's, and a mortgage with them. They offer very competitive rates in all areas. On occaion, I have had to contact them by phone and found their representatives to be very knowledgeable and were able to quickly and correctly answer my questions. It is very easy to transfer money to and from my accounts within and outside of ING.
...

ING has great advertisers and makes online banking accessible to the masses not willing to do the research. The interface is great, the rates are okay. However, I've heard one too many people claim the rates can't be beat and that's just wrong. There are a lot of banks (online mainly) that offer better rates and similar no minimums. Just because ING advertising better doesn't mean you're getting the most for your money.
...

lightonmyfeet says "Flexible, Motivating, Easy with a Good Return" about ING Direct Savings Account and CD's

ING Direct provides the common person a flexible savings environment. For as little as a $1 you can begin building your wealth. This eliminates the nay-sayers "I don't have enough money to save".

How can you beat the ZERO FEE's. Every bank I have ever walked into - i.e. brick and mortar, has placed a fee on something. Knowing my money will stay my money is a huge perk.

The greatest motivator, that is ONLY provided at ING Direct is their Interest Ticker. At any moment of any day you can see your money growing. Talk about motivation. It just makes you want to save more.

Interest rates have dropped, due to the economical world we live in, but ING Direct at 1.4% is still miles ahead of the .15% at my local bank and worth the time and energy to utilize them in my wealth building plan.

Speaking about wealth building, with their no-minimums carrying over into CD's, they are the best place to build your 6 month emergency fund. Great rates and low minimums, why do we even...
...

Pooh2222 says "No real advantages over an account with other banks" about ING Direct Savings Account and CD's

I opened an ING direct originally because their interest rates were significantly better than the average banks. Now this is not so much the case. The rates through ING are still a bit better, but not by much. I honestly would say that the little bit you gain with ING is not really worth it considering the inconvenience of not having a physical bank to go to and execute transactions or ask questions. I have now opened a savings account with the same bank I have my checking account through and that gives you much quicker access to the money. ING often takes a few days to transfer the money to another account for you to use, but other banks doing it within their own bank immediately. If you are putting a large amount of money into a savings account and will never need immediate access to it, than the account may be advantageous for you. Otherwise, I think you are just as well off going with the same bank for all accounts because of the convenience factor. ING does offer checking...
...

ING Direct has NO FEES when you bank with them. They are the best and most secured internet banking that I have experienced. Every time I have a problem and need to call the Customer Service number, there is never a wait on the phone.

The only downside is you have to wait a few days for the money to be transferred if it is not within ING Direct. But for the advantage of having no fees at all, it is worth the wait if you plan ahead of time.

Savings rates are also higher than most banks. Worth checking it out!

I have had an account with ING Direct for about four years, and I have been quite satisfied. I'm very glad that I haven't kept my savings holed up in a regular bank or credit union - I have made a lot more money this way. ING always has some of the best rates, in terms of savings and CD's. They are good at communicating things like rate changes, and sometimes offer perks and free cash if you, say, sign up a friend, or use your debit card. Their customer service is fantastic, and their website is well laid out and easy to use. Even thought they are "only" online, I consider them my primary bank.
...

I love my ING Direct savings account and cd. I've been with them since the end of 2004. I was a little hesitant about an online only bank in the beginning but after 4 years I have complete confidence in them. I use USAA for everything else but could not find a higher interest rate for savings than ING. Right now is not very high (here or anywhere) but it is still higher than other places by quite a bit. It is very easy to use and make transfers in and out. There is a limit per month on transfers out but it is a savings not a checking account so I do nott see why you would need more. I have had short term cd's with them a few times. I always make sure to keep an eye out when the term is about to end because they automatically renew so if the interest rate is not what I want, I will transfer to the savings account. I usually do it over the phone and a lot of the time they will offer you a little bit better of a rate. Their customer service is English speaking and......

I LOVE my ING account! I've been using them since 2002 and have saved for College, Christmas, vacations, car, home repairs, even Investment. Over the years, they have worked to make the website simple, transparent and user-friendly.

When the sub-prime loan bank meltdown started several months ago, I was also thrilled to get an email from the President, assuring all savers that ING's books were strong. What a relief! I recommend them to everyone I know.
...

ING Orange Savings account & ING CDs online at INGdirect.com

A very close friend introduced us (me & hubby) to ING for a basic saving acct, and even now, when the markets have turned, I can still get a "decent" interest rate without having to plunk down tens-of-thousands-of-dollars into a CD or the basic Orange Savings account. We've had BOA as our checking for a long time, and still have a tiny savings w/them as well, but our extra $$ (when we have it) goes right into ING. I'm talking peanuts here folks! Good interest rates on Peanuts! LOL We're scraping to have an Emergency cushion, and most folks I know are like us, paycheck-to-paycheck but getting by. Nowdays, seeing teaser ads for brick-and-mortar banks, in order to get any kind of interest over 3%, require $10,000+ minimum opening deposits & then require 36+ month CD terms! Sorry, if I had that kind of money I wouldn't be in debt anymore! LOL BTW this is NOT a solicitation for me to refer anyone, but seriously...
...

My husband and I finally made the switch to internet banking this year. We researched several online banks and were sold on the ING Direct Orange Savings Account.

After receiving only pennies in interest from our local bank and credit union, we now receive a 3.0% Annual Percentage Yield (APY) on our savings account. I have yet to find an actual bank branch to offer that high of a rate on a savings account.

Even better, using a referral link from a friend who already had an account with ING Direct, my husband and I both received $25 in FREE money as a sign up bonus in each of our individual accounts. My friend receives $10 for each referral that she makes.

My husband and I use our savings accounts strictly for that - saving. We have no plans to transfer our money back into our local bank's checking account. However, it seems to be a very easy process to do so.

ING Direct also offers great rates on their checking accounts and CD's. The 12-month Orange CD is currently offering...
...

ING Direct savings accounts and CDs have gotten me out of debt. Not having the money immediately available makes you really think whether or not you actually want to spend it. I also love that you can make sub-accounts to save for something special. For example, I have my "Christmas" account, my "New Car" account, and my "Rainy Day" account.

My favorite part of ING is the customer service. When you call to talk to someone, you actually talk to a human being! It's never the automated system, and the customer support is always friendly and courteous.

I also love the ING checking account. It's only flaw is that you can only have one account, so my roommate and I aren't able to open a joint checking for living expenses....
