I am so bad with names. I can remember faces and people (so other Viewpoints writers please don't change your photos too much) and it is so annoying to be watching a movie and think, "I've seen them before, now who is that?" Followed then usually by, "Now what movie did I see them in?" Since my husband is a walking wikipedia, I can usually turn to him for the answer, but when I can't IMDB is the first site I visit to find out about movie credits, actors, story lines, plots and all the other trivia I need for both personal and professional use.

IMDB (the Internet Movie Database) is overflowing with information from both the knowledgeable and the fanatical. It is true that much of the information is accurate and helpful, and quite often far more than I want to know. But one of the most entertaining features about this site is finding out all the other television shows and movies that some of my favorite or just memorable actors have been in.

I can't believe how many people I talk to still have never heard of imdb.com. After I watch a film, the first thing I do is visit the web site where I find out more about the movie such as trivia and what others thought about the film. Ever watch a movie or TV show and think, "I've seen that actor before.... what else did I see him in?" Go to imdb and type in the movie to find out the actor's name, then click on their name to see a list of their work. You can search by titles, names, keywords, characters, quotes and more. The pages of each film, television show or person has their own message board, and there are also the main message boards which have themes such as "Oscar Buss" or "Classic Film." Some of the posters on message boards can be very juvenile, but there are also some useful, intelligent postings if you look for them. ...

What I love about IMDB is the fact that you can look up just about any celebrity you've seen in a movie or television show. Seen an old episode of 'Flipper' and want to know that guest star's name? Or maybe there is an actor that you would love to see in something else but not sure what else he or she has done. IMDB is great for that. You can enter either the show or movie and get a cast list. Just click on the actor and get the actor's bio. As long as they are uploaded, you can see pictures of your favorite actor and and other's that they have worked with.

The only con to the site is that the information is uploaded by either the actor, the management company or someone else. It may not have the most up to date information. The other con to the site is that the forums are very difficult to navigate. I found it very difficult to get a conversation started or even join in on a thread. I didn't like it at all. But it did not take away from my overall experience with the site.

This website is great for any question you may have for a movie or TV show. You can find movies starring your favorite actor, get trivia tidbits on movies, browse upcoming movie releases and even receive a full synopsis of your favorite TV show you may have missed.

I literally use IMDB once a day to get movie information. As an added bonus, the site is extremely easy to use.

If you ever wonder what movie is number one or what movies were a big flop, this is the website to go to. It gives you every stat that you could ask for when it comes to how much any movie made and where it ranks currently. Another good thing about the site is that it is up to date with all of the current and past movies...

Its a great website for doing a quick search on an actor or movie that you cant quite remember. I visit the site constantly looking for new things i didnt know about a certain movie. The fact that you can easily jump to a different movie the actor played in is also a big plus. The pictures it has showing them in the movie and in normal life is great to do comparisions of what they look like without all the hollywood makeup....

This online database has information about movies, actors, and television shows , production crew personnel, and video games. It is very helpful. All of the basic database information is available without registration and without providing any personal information. I always read about a movie that I am considering there....

IMDB is a great site to go to when you need information on ANY movie. They don't only have US made-movies, but International ones, as well.

I have used this more than 10 times to find out more information on movies i've either seen on TV or in the theaters. Heck, I even use it for the movies that I DO own.It not only gives you the full cast, but goofs, and trivia as well. There's even a forum you can join to discuss the movie. Once you type in the movie name, the search comes up with every movie that has any words of the movie you are looking for. It even gives you the year it was made. How cool is that?

As a pop culture addict, I spend a lot of time on the internet looking up my favorite celebrities, movies and TV shows. IMDB is one of the premiere sources for info out there.

Pros: Lots of info. IMDB is well-organized and easy to read. There's almost too much information. Everything from character pages, to budgets, to quote guides, and trivia info.

Cons: The info isn't always reliable. For movies, some of the info usually comes from the studios, so it's ok. But, quotes and trivia are user submitted and there aren't a lot of checks on what users submit. No sources are required. Anyone can submit anything, and it's almost always accepted. The television section of IMDB is really messed up. It's in terrible shape. The downside of this is that the TV credits on most actors guides are incomplete at best and incorrect at worst. For TV info, go to TV.com instead.

Overall, it's a fun site to browse. But relying on the info is an iffy proposition. Your usually safe with the movie info, but the TV......

When I was watching the new season of Beauty and the Geek, I couldn't help but notice the Male Beauty looked extremely familiar! Who was he? He wasn't just a random, that guy was an actor. I headed off to my favorite site for everything movies and tv - IMDB.com and did a search for the TV show. Unfortunately the Male Beauty was not listed in the cast :-O Luckily all I had to do was scroll to the very bottom area of the page to see the message board. Yes, every single show, movie, actor, etc has a message board, and of course there were other people talking about it. Through their messages I learned that he was an actor from the Disney movie Brink. Everything was all cleared up.

The message boards are usually not the reason I visit this site however. Here are some general scenarios for why we visit.

What movie was that guy in?
If we are watching a movie, my husband and I can easily lose our train of thought when we see someone familiar but cannot pinpoint where we've seen...

I love this site! Recognize some one from a TV show or movie and do not know why? Check IMBD, just type in the name of the movie, TV show, or actor and IMDB will show you everything about that person. It helps you find additional shows your favorites have been in. It is amazing what information you can find on this site!...

IMDB stands for internet movie data base. I am forever looking up movies and actors(actresses). When was it made, who was in it. You can search for a person and see what else they were in. You can even do a search for a movie using key words if you don't know anything else about the movie.

Being an old movie buff, it can be really hard trying to find out about old movies, but I haven't had too much of a problem using key word.
