There are two pieces of furniture in my apartment that are not from ikea. The store is amazing and affordable. I got a couch, chair, tv stand, mattress, bed frame and bed slats for a little over $500. The store has very unique items. Because they have living rooms, kitchens, etc already set up in the store you can see what matches and how big items are. I look forward to every trip I make to ikea.
...

idroveallnight says "Good for your first place." about IKEA

If your moving into your first place or new apartment and need some good sturdy furniture to last you while you're still paying off your mortgage, moving fees, closing fees, etc., then IKEA is perfect. While their furniture may not be the most appeasing to the eye, when put together with other pieces, and dressed up with furnishings from places like Home Goods and Marshalls, you can almost make your space look like it is straight out of the catalog. For the longest, I wanted two lounge chairs in my space but could not afford spending nearly $300 a piece at places like Target or overstock.com. After seeing an ad from IKEA advertising their Tullsta chair for $99 I immediately went there and picked up 2. The slip covers were too expensive @ $50 each, so I bought 2 throws for $10 ea and went to Home Goods to buy some really nice pillows and voila... they looked fantastic.
...

violet1978 says "Love the furniture, but the service needs upgraded" about IKEA

Let me just say that everyone in customer service at Ikea Baltimore was very nice and professional. I went there two weeks ago to pick up a bed, etc. I was told that they didn't have anyone to operate the forklift so I could either come back in nine hours or return the next day. Another gentleman offered me free home delivery which I gladly accepted. Urban Express is something else, but that's for another review. Ikea sent me two of the same box. I called and was told I would receive a call to resolve the problem within two days. At the end of the third day I was calling them. Another day was set up for delivery, but then I get a message the next day saying we had to move the delivery date because they were booked. I wrote an email to them but never received a response. I work in customer service and I know mistakes happen, but their lack of concern was disappointing.
...

Ikea is amazing. The programs are well made but still affordable. i love how the store is broken up into different rooms to show you all of the products that match together. They seem to sell everything except clothes. I'm sure that will come out soon too.
...

I have visited the Canton, MI Ikea a few times and I like some of the merchandise and prices, but it always comes at a price. Like getting lost in the store, trying to find the elevators which are at the exact opposite ends of the store from the register and poor signs.

The quality of the merchandise is usually ok. I dont like that a huge portion of the merchandise is made in China or SE Asia.

The U-Scan it registers are always a pain and check out takes forever when those are the only registers open.

I'd rather buy for a bit more and get in and out of the store quickly.
...

ISLTAINA says "THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!" about IKEA

The product is great but the customer service is the worst. The store in Sunrise Fl don't have Manager material. The Manager Angie laugh at customer situations and the General Manager is no where to be found. The store don't return calls and everytime I call a different manager is in duty and when I ask for the Manager that I talk before they said that the person is no longer in the store. Is the worst Customer Service that I ever encounter. My advise to anybody that would like to buy a new kitchen from IKEA is keep your receipts and be ready for a very bad experience. By the way the DO YOURSELF INSTRUCTIONS is no where to be found. And is like the customer is force to pay the Outside Services and that is another waste of money the charge a lot a money. I pay 3400 for my kitchen and they want 3000 to install, and this don't make any sense.
...

MexicanJim says "Revenge of the Swedes" about IKEA

The pedestal of consumerism was for too many years simply known as WalMart. Ahh, but over the last ten years a giant Swede by the name of Ikea has slowly made their way across America from Elizabeth, New Jersey, to Burbank, California, and now the God known only by the little yellow smiley face suddenly finds himself being pushed off his perch. The owner of Ikea now makes more money than the family of the late Sam Walton who founded the famous, or infamous, WalMart superstore chain. Cowboys and cowgirls, there's a new Sheriff in town, and he wears an obnoxious yellow polo shirt.

To me Ikearepresents all the greatest developments in design and industrial technology all rolled up into a monumental showcase of plastic and pressed-wood gadgets that look original and cool, but rarely last longer than one to three years. This is the genius behind Ikea. You can furnish your entire apartment for less than two grand with lots of nifty looking stuff. Around the one year mark, one by one the nifty...
...

jrena says "ikea needs better customer service!!!" about IKEA
Last Saturday I went to Ikea, Boilngbrook IL. ,for the first time rather then my usually destination Ikea Schaumburg, IL. I was looking for a cabinet and a sink to remodel the bathroom. I saw one in display that I liked. I then asked the person in charge of the bath section to help me get the cabinet and sink. I pointed out which one I wanted and she walked to her computer and a few minutes later walks back to me with a sheet of paper. Since I TRUSTED the Ikea employee, I folded the sheet of paper and put it in my pocket and went about my way around the store looking to give more of my money to Ikea.

I went home and assembled one of the cabinets and discovered that the cabinet was wrong. After a couple days later I drove back to the Ikea in Bolingbrook, IL. which took me an hour. When I got there, they told me I couldn't return the wrong cabinet that Ikea employee had reserved for me to pick up. The store manager tells me I couldn't return the product was because it was assembled and it......

I absolutely love Ikea. At first when it came to my city, I didn't know what all the fuss was about, but once I got in there, I knew. It is a huge warehouse full of great prices and unique, Scandanavian products. I'm the queen of cheap, so it was heaven for me. I furnished all of my kitchen and linen needs in under $125. I got pillows, comforters, curtains, pots & pans, dishes, towels, rugs, you name it! I love going there just to see what I can get for cheap.

Also, I love their breakfasts, because trust me, I'm there before they open up.

Now, if you're looking for something that's longer lasting, you may want to purchase the higher quality items they have there (still great prices), but if you're on a budget (for students going away to college especially), and you're trying to stretch your dollar, this is the place to go. My items have lasted at least a year without needing to be replaced. I highly recommend it!
...
