Howl's Moving Castleis a wonderful Japanese movie directed by a very well known man named Hayao Miyazaki. This film is about a girl named Sophie who isturned into an old woman by the Witch of the Waste. While Sophie seearches for a way to return her body to normal, she meets Howl, a wizard, and embarks on an adventure to try and stop the horrible war going on and in the process discovers herself and her hidden potential. The visuals are beautiful and the aerial fight scenes are spectacular. The characters are well developed and likable. This movie has a great combination of romance, action, adventure, fantasy, and comedy. I loved this movie and would recommend Miyazaki's other films that are also released by Walt Disney. All of Miyazaki's films are great movies that really can be enjoyed by all ages. All of Miyazaki's films leave you with a satisfied happy feeling by the end of the film.

Howl's Moving Castle is one of the best anime movies I've ever seen. I have recently discovered it was based on a book by Diana Wynne Jones, and even has two sequels, which you can be sure I will be reading soon--Castle in the Sky, and House of Many Ways.

The story begins with Sophie Hatter, an eldest daughter, who is bored with running her family's hat shop. After accidently offending the Witch of the Waste, she is turned into an old woman. Ashamed of her appearence she runs away, and finds herself working as a cleaning maid for the the Wizard Howl. She discovers that Howl's spirit servant, Calcifer, is under contract to the wizard. He tells her if she can find a way to break the wizards hold on him, he can changer her back to her own young self.

The story goes on, and tells of many great adventures and tales of friendship, leading to love. I highly recommend this to anyone, young or old, who enjoys a good movie.

Another great addition to an extended collection of anime films from the great Miyazaki. You can tell that he take great care in perfecting the movement of his animation. I was Very impressed with the storyline and how the plot came together. I found it to be engaging and thought proviking. The music is a wonderful and powerful addition and tells the story as well as the pictures do. It is child friendly and safe for the little eyes the watch. I was very pleased with this film.

Loved this movie! And I'm not even a big anime watcher. This just appeared on our Netflix recommendations list & my husband added it to our list.

This movie is not for people who dislike mentions of witchcraft and/or the supernatural.

We watched this with our kids and we were almost as into it as they were. A very clever story, and pay attention to how the old woman changes bit by bit through the story. Just excellent! There is so much attention to detail in this film; and the color is very rich.

Very fun story about a young girl cursed by a witch who finds her way to a "castle" that walks around, with the help of a turnip-headed scarecrow, and how she helps a "hero" break his own curse.
