How I met your Mother started out as a funny, smart comedy. The "hook" is that the main character starts each episode out talking to his two children. He is telling them how he met their mother. In the first two seasons, this was cute, but it is just stupid now! Basically this show revolves around Ted, an architect who lives in New York, and his friends. Marshall has been his friend since college, and they have lived in the same appartment for most of the show. Marshall is married to Lily, who is an artist/kindergarten teacher. In my opinion, this is the only redeaming relationship in the show. They stand by each other, and love each other no matter what. Barney is a total player, who sleeps with a different woman every night. Which is actually pretty ironic, since in real life he is gay. And Robin, who is also a player, and has slept with both Ted and Barney. This show usually has some comedic elements, but it's confusing to remember who is sleeping with whom! ...
...

I love everything about this series. The plot is genius, the cast is great, and every episode is so well written! NPH is especially hilarious. My only problem with this show is that I have to wait a week to see a new episode! ;-(
...

I have been hooked on How I Met Your Mother since meeting my fiance. You think that you will find out who the mother is and you never do. Oh and Barney he is the funniest guy with all his one liners. Ted just can't seem to catch a break, just when things go right something always happens. Marshall and Lilly are there to help everyone out. Over all I would recommend this show to anyone out there who would like to have a good laugh.
...

How I met your Mother

I started watching this show the first season it was on and i haven't missed an episode since. It comes on CBS on monday nights and now will be airing at 7 pm central. The stars are lilly who was also in one of my other favorite tv series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and from the American Pie fame. In addition it was a great outlet to reintroduce fans to Doogie Howser MD all grown up, dressed in a 3 piece suit and all about the "Bro's" . He stars in this show as a womanizer looking for all the wrong things but super successful Barney.

This show is a smart comedy that showcases the dynamcs between a married couple, the endless romantic, Ted (father of the kids who can't wait for him to share who their mother it), Robin, Ted's ex-girlfriend and 1 time fling of Barney and the forever single Barney.

Now as a mother of 3 kids under the age of 9 this is definetly not a family friendly show for these ages. But it is something that my husband and i can enjoy and thankfully...
...

jenpen01 says "A constant knee slapper" about How I Met Your Mother

How I met your mother is the greatest comedy on tv right now. The show has constant knee slapping humor. My favorite thing is when websites are mentioned on the show, they typically exist, and when you check them out they deal with the show. I love how every show relates to the previous show, and there is always a surprise on what happens by the end of the season.

During the show, you are trying to figure out who the mother is of Ted's children. You follow the friends through the years and try to follow who he ends up with. When you think you have it figured out, something changes and you have to start over again trying to figure it out. Totally worth my time! Never a dull moment. The only thing I wish would be different is that they had more shows on every week!

To make up for "Friends" being over, I definitely suggest watching CBS's How I Met Your Mother!
...

DianneHasAnOpinion says "How I Met Your Mother is a consistently funny, entertaining show" about How I Met Your Mother

This is a show that my now-husband introduced me to when we first started dating. I had seen it on t.v. before, but never got into it. Once you understand the basic premise that the entire show is taken place in flash backs, it's incredibly easy to follow and just a joy to watch. We look forward to it every Monday evening. It's the only show that we really missed during the writer's strike!

All of the characters are very well developed. Ted is the loveable guy, that my husband says he can relate to -- the hopeless romantic looking for love. (It definitely helps knowing that he ends up married, otherwise it might just be sad!). Every new relationship keeps you wondering if SHE'S the mother.

Jason Seagle (sp?) plays Marshall, and he's probably the funniest character on the show. He and Lily are happily married, which is something you just don't see on t.v. -- at least not in such a committed, happy, funny way as they pull it off on this show.

Robin and Barney also provide...
...

This is one of the best sitcoms to come along in a long time. It's actually laugh-out-loud funny! And it's not just me, my boyfriend (who is definitely not into sitcoms) laughs along with me - now that's saying something! How can you go wrong with Bob Saget narrating and Dougie Howser as a womanizing player? I'd watch the show just for his "sayings". I kinda hope he doesn't find the kids' mother because then the show's pretty much over...

I began watching How I Met Your Mother from the middle of the second season. I didn't instantneously fall in love with it but it wasn't long before I did. I was so addicted to it that I had to catch up on all of the episodes on the internet and every times it's on TV I have to watch it. It is realistically hilarious. The characters aren't oblivious to the antics of the entire gang and the fact that it's so down to earth and easy to relate to is it's best quality. Barney, Ted, Robin, Marshall, and Lily are people that you probably know in real life and an absolute laugh. The years I spent without any knowledge of this show were an utter waste....

How I met your mother is so funny. All the characters have there own neurotic behavior but in very funny ways. Barney kills me and make me laugh out loud. They need to move Ted on to another relationship and the writers need to come up with some more tag lines for Barney. Although, I have yet to find out who the mother is, I am assuming when that happens the series will be over. It is mindless entertainment....

How I Met Your Mother is honestly one of my favorite shows ever. Ranked up there with Friends and Gilmore Girls. The writing is clever and the actors have wonderful repertoire with one another. Neil Patrick Harris made his comeback ten-fold with is portrayal of Barney, a ladies man that now is in love with his best friend's ex-girlfriend and roommate. Alison Hannigan and Jason Segel make the perfect couple! I definitely recommend this show to everyone, it offers plenty of laughs and heart!...

I'm not much one for sitcoms, but How I Met Your Mother has a rare spot in my weekly rotation. While the overarching narrative structure (each episode is presented as a story the main character Ted tells his circa-2030 children about the path his life took to lead him up to meeting their mother) is kind of cheesy, the writing is fresh and timely, avoiding most the gimmicks of other comedies. The show is witty, incorporating emerging slang and creating some of its own. The ensemble cast has great chemistry, but Neil Patrick Harris is the real standout here, his womanizing Barney a far cry from his days as a teen doctor and far closer to the NPH of Harold & Kumar movies....

I didn't watch the first season of this show. I don't know why. I just didn't. I started watching during the second season. Now I'm hooked. I DVR it every week and watch religiously. The "family" dynamics between the five characters is awesome. Every week they come up with something new and entertaining. It's never, ever a dull show. Of course Barney is my favorite character. He is so funny! Yes, he is a total womanizer, but in a funny way. Not offending in the slightest.

And, like everyone who watches, I too want to know who is the mother??? Yes. I thought it was Robin for a while. Then I thought it might be Stella. Now, I really have no idea. I just have fun watching the show! It's so humorous and entertaining and really with the times. They are a bunch of young, successful adults who enjoy hanging out and having a good time....and occassionally getting into a little trouble now and again! Who wouldn't love that???
...

How I Met Your Mother is the best sitcom currently on television. It's got a great ensemble cast and it's hilarious. HIMYM has all the elements for a great sitcom.

It's fun and interesting waiting to see who will be the Mother but it's not something to sweat over. It's much more fun watching Ted, Robin, Barney, Lily and Marshall share life's journeys. A great entertaining buddy show!

Neil Patrick Harris (as Barney) is a constant scene stealer and he couldn't be any funnier. What a great character. He's truly "legen (wait for it) dary"

Can't think of a better group of actors to play these roles and it's one of the few shows that delivers on every episode!
...
