celtic315 says "Wild Mustang Rescue is Wonderful" about Horse Rescue

I am an animal lover and have been all my life. Last year I was able to adopt a Wild Mustang, and have enjoyed every minute since I have gotten him. He now is around two years old and will follow you everywhere just like a dog, except he is a horse. I named him Koda, which means "friend" in Dakota Sioux Indians, because I just knew he would be my friend and has turned out to be everyones friend. He loves to drink water from the hose and loves to swim in the tank that we have for all the animals we own. I have never regretted adopting him, even in this difficult time everyone is going thru duing this recession. I have given up so many things so I can buy feed for my animals. I have four horses, now four donkeys since one had a little jenny on Aug. 22, 2009. Two cows, we had to sell the others, and many chickens and Guinea's. If it wasn't for the Mustang adoption I would not have Koda, and not be able to enjoy him. Thank-you Wild Mustang Adoption and the BLM.
...

debriggs says "Pet lover" about Horse Rescue

This review shows just how cruel people can be and how selfish we have become as a nation. When someone gets an animal they need to understand what they are getting into. All too often I have found dogs that have been dumped with no regard for their welfare; or animals that look like they are being abused. I am a longtime pet owner, I had horses and they are alot of work, but because I was very busy and felt like I was doing them a disservice I sold them to a family who was willing to allow them to stay together. I cried my heart out over the loss of my horses and I miss them to this day but animals depend on us, they are God's creatures and deserve to be loved and cared for, not dumped when they no longer amuse us or become too much work.

Yours in Christ

symonenybo says "horse rescue, is the greatest thing in the world to me." about Horse Rescue

Horse Rescue is something that I personally would love do to, and anyone that is willing to rescue a horse just out the goodness of there heart is amazing. Horses in general are an amazing creature that needs love just like anyone else and the Horse in a general existence has been put through and parden my french hell. they have been abused(trained in horrible ways, beat if it does something wrong) neglected(don't trim there hooves, inproper feeding and care) and slaughtered(some companys slaughtered there horses to make them in to glue, dog food and there meat) to get it started. They are a gental animal and I suggest that if you have the land, money and time, with the fact you know a horse that need to be rescued then take it in and help it heal and become what it once was. and I personally don't know any places that you can donate, but i will look and keep you posted....

this facility was amazing and I'm glad to have been able to meet such caring individuals in the business. I would recommend it to anyone who no longer can care for their own equines. The rescued horses here were fed and cared for so well that I was convinced it was the perfect place for any others who needed a new home. It was also a much better prospect than getting rid of the horses to an unreliable owner and not being able to visit when we pleased.

very happy with the results and ...

=] very glad to share this awesome experience.
...

mostlyolder says "the pure ignorance of some owners" about Horse Rescue

The reason i am writting this is because i think it is very mean and cruel to horses to just let their hoves grow wild and shoe them.this does hurt their feet and legs and makes it hard for them to move about. I know of a horse owner who does not care well for their horse, there has been times, when one would die and just lay there for days. Yes they do feed them well, but that is about all they do for their horses.they own minatures, clydales and quarter horses.it really pained me to see these poor, but beatiful horses have to go through this kind of not carring. Idid ask them one time why they would not get their hves trimmed down to normal size, and all they could say was,"We don'y have the time or money to that" Wrong answer there, as i know they could if they really cared!

...

candydiver says "Amazing people who care deeply for their rescued horses." about Horse Rescue

My husband and I recently visited the Retirement Home for Horses in Alachua, Florida. We had pre-arranged with the owners to visit on the prescribed visitation day that the Home has set up for the public. I received an e-mail from Peter with all the directions and phone numbers to get there from Jacksonville airport. He also told me to phone if we were going to be late or needed any further instructions or got lost. As it turned out, our GPS system didn't like the address and it took a bit longer to get there than originally thought. Once we arrived, we parked and got out our bags of carrots and apples and proceeded to the first paddock to visit with the mini horses and the draft horses. After a few minutes Peter came to meet us and talked to us at lenght about the horses and the farm itself. These people are amazing, they care for at least 130 horses, some blind, but all loved equally. We arrived quite late in the afternoon, as the farm is only open to the pubic until 3:00...
...
