This is one of the best vaccuums that I have ever used. Not only does it hold the suction that you would expect from a Hoover, but the motor is quiet compared to some other models that I have owned in the past. The light that is on the front of the floor piece has a rather bright bulb so that you actually can see any particles that you might have missed when you find yourself vaccuuming in a darker part of the room. The attachments are easy to use and the power cord is just the right length to reach majority of the areas of a room without having to switch outlets to be able to continue your chore. The individual attachment of using the wand also has a great suction quality that never seems to weaken....unless you get it pulled of course. The wheels roll very smooth and do not get caught in even the thickest of carpeting. The handle folds down to conserve space in your closet or other storage area which is a really good plus.

Pros: bagless & very long cord so I don't have to hardly ever to unplug and replug

Cons: it is SO loud - louder than a shop vac by a lot! On bare floors / wood, shoots debri back towards your feet/legs. It just doesn't clean very well. Cheap -- many plastic parts have broken and I've only had it about a year - i.e. the holder for the nozzle attachment. I've never had a bagless before, so maybe this is common, but it's hard not to make a mess trying to empty it into a garbage can....

I guess I should start with the basics of this very standard vacuum cleaner. The Hoover EmPower Bagless Upright Vacuum has an average list of features; none of which work particularly well.

The 12-Amp motor picks up the usual amount of dirt and dust, but is less effective on pet hair or embedded bits and pieces. I do a lot of bending and picking up leftover bits from the carpet. The 3-mode power feature - Standard, Hush, and Power Boost - seem to make little difference in actual performance. The flexible hose and 14-inch extender are cumbersome to use - particularly on the stairs - because there is no comfortable way to hold onto the base as you move up and down the staircase. It's very awkward. In addition, the hose sometimes comes loose as you're vacuuming because it can't be locked into place. Another issue I have with the vacuum is that the lever used to adjust the machine to the carpet's height is incredibly clunky and difficult to move from position to position. ...

This is a very powerful vacuum and reviewers that say otherwise must be doing something wrong. In fact, it is possible that it is too powerful as it took up part of an area rug and tore the corner. I am continually amazed by its ability to deep clean carpets that my previous vacuum could not touch. This is by far the best vacuum that I have ever had and, for the price, would recommend to everyone. The cons? Watch out for edges of area rugs as this thing could eat them. Also, the filter is very tough to get to. Luckily it doesn't seem to need cleaning/changing that frequently, the bagless reservoir does an exceptional job. Look, I don't normally review things unless they are really good or really bad. This Hoover EmPower Bagless is great! ...

We purchased the Hoover EmPower about a year ago. It worked great for about 6 months and now has little suction. Had it to the repair shop and was told nothing was wrong, that

hoover empower vacuum does a poor job.the hose tends to clog and the knob to change carpet heights is very difficult to turn.I never had a problem with other hoover products,just this particular model.would not recommend this product as a powerful vacuum....

This is the third vacuum I have bought in the last ten years. It is by far the most reliable and easy to maintain. I love not having to change vacuum bags anymore. I've had to buy one new filter since I bought it two years ago. If you clean the filter after each use it will last longer!!! It's a great vacuum for the price I paid for it!!

I just got this new vacuum and I am SO excited by it! I could NOT believe that it came PRE-ASSEMBLED and was ready to work out of the box!

THEN I tried it out - you attach the hose to the bottom of the vac and make sure to turn till it's tight - then select the carpet height and push ON!

It even has a TURBO power boost button.. AND it has a HUSH button, which really you don't need because this is the QUIETEST vacuum I've ever owned!

It runs like it is self-propelled, EASY to maneuver. LOVE the onboard tools.

It sucks things up like a cyclone in the catch cylinder and all you pet lovers will be AMAZED, just AMAZED at the amount of PET HAIR it sucks up the first time you use it! Man, my old vac must have been TERRIBLE to have left all that it picked up!

I was a confirmed Bissell user, but am now converted. Hoover for me from now on!

I like this vacuum cleaner because it's small and picks up dirt. That about it. I don't like this vacuum cleaner because when the filter gets really dirty you have to replace it. When you have to empty out the dirt you get your hands really dirty. The knob is really hard to turn. I have to put rubber gloves on, just to turn the knob. Its really hard to unclog the hose. We had to get a wire hanger and make it straight just to stick it into the hose to get it unclogged. The one mistake that one of my co-workers decide to do, was to wash the filter, will it got it cleaned but then it got really nasty. We had to throw it away and buy an new filter....

I have always found in the past that the hoover vaccuum that uses the bag is a good quality vaccuum cleaner but the new bagless hoovers seem to have a very thin hose that connects to the vaccuum that constantly gets clooged and loses its power many a times I found myself taking apart the vaccuum to unclog the hose. I will no longer buy the hoover bagless vaccuum. I recently bought a hoover that uses the bag and has a wider hose and I am very happy with it. It has very strong suction.

This is a very good vacuum and quiet when it is put on the quiet mode. The only problem I have had with it was the hose unattaches sometimes in the middle of vacuuming so you have to reattach it which isnt a big deal but at times can be a pain. It is really good at picking up dog hair too with the brush attachment. The filters are pretty expensive, but before you buy one, hit the filter on the side of the garabage can to remove any dirt and dust. Once the filter does not come clean anymore is when you need to replace it. I would say once every 3 months depending on how often you vacuum.

Bottom-Line: EmPower Bagless Upright Vacuum has proved itself to be the perfect little vacuum for our modest floor space.

Way back in the ‘80's when I was still riding submarines, I made a trip wherein the XO (Executive Officer) of the boat declared war on dirt; "dirt is the enemy he would say" as he turned out the crew to clean the boat once again. In response our motto for that mission was "f_uck the mission, clean the position!" Position referring to the stacks of equipment we used to do our jobs.

Time has pasted of course, but one thing remains a constant: dirt, dust, and crime; the stuff of life. Oh yes and add to that spider webs, which our little patch of Illinois seems to have an over abundance of due the invasion of spiders both inside and outside the house!

When we bought the house some five years ago, we purchased a Hoover Wind Tunnel vacuum cleaner that has served us well, but is starting to get a little long in the tooth, and has been retired upstairs where the work...
