I bought my 2008 Honda Fit in July '08 when gas for $4.00 a gallon. I wanted gas mileage as least as good as my 1998 Honda Civic EX coupe. It was still running great and working as my "dog car", 3 midsized hounds riding to a dog park three times a week. It's a bright blue baby SUV. I drove the Yaris and Matrix, but did not like the interiors but the roominess of the FITwas just right. I have the sports model so it has a spoiler and what else I'm not really sure. It's my first automatic in decades, but has the option of standard transmission so that's fun. My 88-year-old mother had been in a wheelchair for many months and could not easily get in and out of her Oldsmobile nor my Civic. The height of the Fit was perfect, much easier and her wheelchair fit easily in the rear storage area. I love it that I can fold down the back seats, really easily, and carry big things or lots of stuff. Last week I brought home a headboard from Goodwill that fit just perfectly. I do not allow my dogs in this...
...

Our 2008 Honda Fit Sport is a great little car. We bought it when gas was so high a little over a year ago. This is a fantastic little car that has a lot of interior room. We have gotten as much as 41 miles per gallon on trips and do better than 30 miles per gallon just around town, etc. The four cylinder engine is peppy for a small car. It's no speed demon but gets you from point A to B very well. Ours has the automatic transmission.

The rear foldup or lay down seats are a nice feature. My second vehicle is a truck but sometimes I think I can almost haul as many items in this little car. We use it mainly on trips as it so economical to drive. For my wife and I it is more than adequate for traveling. The ride is a bit stiff but that can be expected with a small car like this.

This car has been very dependable and we have had no issues with it at all. After all it is a Honda and they are well known for quality vehicles.
...

sara2468 says "Now I understand why Honda has such a great reputation!" about Honda Fit - 2008

In June 2008 I purchased my first Honda, a 2008 Honda Fit Sport. I was replacing a 1996 Sable which had been totalled by a deer the previous month. I have a 60 mile round trip daily commute. Safety, reliability, and fuel economy were my major stipulations. I did a lot of on-line research before going to any dealerships. The fact that Consumer Reports had evaluated this model as a Best Buy was a big point for me.

The first thing that struck me about the Honda Fit was how roomy it is and how large the windows are. Visibility is wonderful. My husband is 6'2" and has plenty of leg and headroom, both as the driver or passenger. At 5'7" my sister has had plenty of room in the back seat.

The hatchback is more than ample for groceries and normal shopping trips. However, if you need to move or haul something large, the back seats (one or both) fold perfectly flat and the storage space is amazing. Another interesting feature is that the front seats can also be folded perfectly...
...

I bought my 2008 Honda Fit Sport edition back in October 2007. It is my first brand new car and I absolutely love it! Shopped around looking at different cars in this price range and found that overall this car had what I wanted. It has more room than my mom's Civic, and my husband, who is 6'2" can ride in it without smacking his head on the ceiling. The mileage is pretty good. I usually get between 28 and 32 mpg, and I'm not a speed demon, but do drive a bit over the speed limit. The best thing about it is how small, and yet how big it is. And compared to the Toyota Yaris 2 door (which I was considering) I love having 4 doors instead. The only thing I really wish it had was a passenger side door lock.
...

This car is awesome. I have three kids and can fit one in a car seat one in a small booster and an older child in the back seat! It gets an average of 36 miles to the gallon and is an awesome car. I can't say enough. It has lots of leg and head room it looks small from the outside but on the inside it is very spacious. It gets GREAT gas mileage both in the city and on the road trips. It is comfortable as well. For the money brand new (under 14k) you can't beat this car....

We bought this car not knowing what it was but noticing it on the car lot. We took it for a test drive and fell in love. If we were to do it again the only thing we would change is we would get a manual instead of an automatic. I know someone with a stick and they get atleast 5miles to the gallon more then we do....

I've been driving a Honda Fit for a couple of months now and absolutely love it! It's amazing how much you can put in this thing! It's also fun to drive and get's great gas mileage. I was a bit worried that the seats would be uncomfortable, but we've gone on long drives and have been pleasantly surprised. This car is perfect for someone who wants a small car with great gas mileage, but needs a lot of cargo space....

We just bought our Fit a few weeks ago. Love it!!! The adjustable seating is so easy even our ten year old can do it. It looks very small on the outside but has a surprising amount of room on the inside. It idles smoothly, rides smoothly. We can feel the bumps a little more but we did switch from a minivan so that's to be expected. The one complain I have is that it doesn't have automatic door locks on the passanger side but that is a fairly small thing. The gas mileage is great, our salesman was fantastic and we couldn't be happier. We bought the base version....
