Douglas Adams has to be my favorite writer of all time....for those of you who didn't know that Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy wasn't just a crazy movie, do yourselves a favor and pick this up. It is definitely worth the read...although it may take you a few drinks to get in the right frame of mind. I absolutely love his style of writing and do not think the movie really did the book any justice, but what movies do? Everything about this facinates me, I love science fiction and wild hairbrained hiliarious nonsense. Can I please have some of what you were on, Mr Adams? Thank you for your contribution to the sci-fi community, RIP
...

stellarose says "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is out of this world!" about Hitchhiker's Guide

I have always felt that Douglas Adams was an unsung hero in the world of authors, and his brilliance is highlighted in his book, Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy (hhg2g). The story centers around Arthur Dent and the adventure he is dragged into (however unwillingly) after the Earth, his home planet, is demolished. The book chronicles a journey through the parameters of space time, with a cornucopia of other worlds that Adams writes about so clearly, it was as if he had visited each. Along the way, Arthur learns about thousands of things that he did not know, such as the importance to avoid the Ravenous Bugbladder Beast of Traugh, and to ALWAYS know where his towel is.
Pick up this book today. You won't be able to put it down...Or stop laughing....

coolcat0708 says "Very funny, very interesting" about Hitchhiker's Guide

This is one of my very favorite books. It's intelligently written and very hilarious. What's better than extremely funny science-fiction? The main character is someone average and nearly anyone can relate to him which really adds to the humor of the book. The completely random things that happen to an average, almost boring guy keeps you laughing from page one. This mixed with highly ironic events has made this book one of the funniest in the planet. Or should I say one of the funniets in the galaxy? LoL

If you're into humor and science-fiction or just one of the other, this is a really great read.
...

When starting to read this book you must remember the British style of humor. I felt that this book was interesting in the storyline that it followed.the characters thru many different escapades. Douglas Adams carried the characters well into the series of books that he wrote. I found this to be even more enjoyable to follow them thru other adventures.
...

Basosz says "Funniest SciFi-comedy ever" about Hitchhiker's Guide

Good grief I love this book. I've had the very pretty leatherbound version for about 8 years now and it never ever gets boring. It's too massive a book to write a proper review about but it's absolutely fantastic. The introduction itself is hilarious ! And then the book still hasn't started properly yet.

It really is a proper comedy for everyone to read.
...
