Yikes! I'm really wishing I had chosen a different printer! It sounded great. Low price, lots of capabilities (fax, copier, color and b/w prints), and from a well respected brand, but watch out! This thing eats ink like you would believe! AND the ink is really pricey and doesn't last. The claims for the number of prints are completely false, you won't even get half the prints that the manufacturer promises. I don't even print photos and I barely get 20 prints (with limited color) out of each $24 color cartridge. Do the math and I could have purchased a top of the line color laser printer! The quality of the machine is acceptable, but nothing special and the machine frequently get paper and carriage jams. Also, HP has fixed this printer so that generic cartridges do not work and the new cartridges are not able to be refilled at lower cost by retailers like Walgreens or Office Depot. HP has fixed it so that the consumer has no other option than to get soaked buying overpriced...

I'm nervous about buying computer products. They tend to malfunction or freeze for unknowable reasons. But, at 2 years old, I'm still pleased with the Hewlett Packard OfficeJet 5610 All-in-One. It scans easily, can fax (although I haven't set that up because I don't have another phone line, and the phone is the complicated part), copies reliably, and prints in color - does a nice job on family photos. I've used it to print color invitations on card stock, to print photos on post cards, and to print resumes and formal letters. It's compact and lightweight, but so far, sturdy enough for this family. The cover lid seems pretty flimsy, but no problems there yet. Loading paper is easy up front, although the paper tray and output shelf seem flimsy. I've had to load the drivers again a couple of times, but I don't know if the printer or Vista is to blame; in any event, that was pretty easy, too. I can find 'deals' online to buy ink cartridges, and I can usually use remanufactured (correct term?)...

It's dependable and reliable, but isn't too great for complex photo printing. As a psychology student in college, the HP printer is useful for printing out lots of papers and academic articles. I just wish the ink cartridge didn't run dry so quickly....

Perfect for at home use. From scaning pictures to copying important documents this machine does the trick. Fast with clear printing and great color, no smudges. Have heard that this printer does not work well with vista, but I don't (won't ever) have vista so it's not a problem. I have Windows XP which works great with this all-in-one. Now I just need a fax line....

I love to be able go copy something in a hurry. The ink seems to last longer than other printers I've had. I do get paper jams now and then and that is frustrating as hell! ...

This printer is efficient and for a casual computer user, the ink cartridge lasts an awfully long time. The fax option is awfully nice, even though I'm never going to use it, I know that it is there if I would like it.

And this product is a pretty good value purchase too.

The Bottom Line: This is one very easy to use with quality results unit.

We just bought the HP 5610 on sale at Circuit City for $79, got it home & right away it was ready to print, scan, fax & copy. Black ink is still HP #56 which my 3 in 1 printer that my husband took uses & we get 3 for $43 at BJs. Then it wants a #22 for color ink & a #58 for photo ink, same as my 3 in 1. I very seldom use color ink so the little cartridge with it will be fine.

I am amazed that the black print is laser printer quality. The only problem is every time I turn on the computer I must goto FILE, then PAGE SETUP, then PRINTER then COLOR to hit Grayscale & black cartridge or you can get color from web sites. Why it doesn't just make it permanent is besides me. My husband puts black cartridge in both sides but this unit will not allow it. Guess the 20's are smaller than the 50's as the salesman told us to buy 56 for black since we get more ink.

I am not into specs of a unit, as I just talk lady-like telling......

This and other HP all-in-ones are inexpensive ways to get scanner, fax, copier (color and b/w) in a compact decent machine. It is a bit slow, and some of that may have to do with some issue of interactions between it's programming and Windows Vista, although I don't have huge needs. Anything that seems to give me a difficult time I seem to be able to by pass and manage manually. This may be more of a problem with my feeder, but while the fax feeder works great with different papers and always feeds one at a time, the paper feeder for copies often leads to corners getting crinkled or folded once in the machine. Not enough though to warrant a full scale investigation and "fix it" episode, but enough that it is hard to get a "perfect copy". Wouldn't use to do photo printing, but the image quality is close to that good!...

Even though I bought this printer in a pkg bundle from HP.com, this printer is only 50% compatible with a Vista system. HP did not bother to screen this. They should have notified me that most of the "on" printer function buttons would not work when paired with a Vista system. Would not buy this printer again or recommend to anyone....
