I have never had a abetter computer than my hp pavillion!! It is so great!! Everything on it is easy to use and I haven't had one single problem yet! Know on wood. It is small, portable, and it updates itself all by itself!! It is awesome. It does all of the maintenance withought me having to worry about knowing what Ihave to do next to make it work. It has a Kapersky interenet security on it and it is constantly running. I only wish it had a coupld more screen savers. I hate down loading them because it uses up soooooo much room on your comp. and then it makes it really really slow, and sometimes they dont even work!!! I would recomend this to anyone who is looking for a nice computer. The only thing I dont like about it is that the battery only lasts abouot 1 hr!! That is not fgood because it will just shut off on you with barely any warning at alll!!! I would buy one with a longer battery life!
...

I bought my HP Pavillion dv9000 about 3 years ago. It was the first laptop I have had and I absolutely fell in love with it from the beginning. I enjoyed the freedom of not being tied to a home PC all of the time.

It has alot of features that I enjoy. From the large 17" screen to touch sensitive media controls. It has 1024 MB system memory and 100GB hard drive and Windows Vista Premium ready. Another great feature is the Super Multi 8X DVD R/RW drive.

After owning the laptop for a year, there were issues discovered with the mother board. I was so disheartened, thinking that I was going to have to pay some big expenses, out of pocket, to either have it fixed or to purchase a new one. To my surprise, HP's customer service was outstanding!! They took my information over the phone, was very courteous and did their part to resolve the problem....they even sent a "postage paid" shipping box to my home, picked it up, fixed the problem, and shipped it back, within a week!! I was absolutely thrilled...
...

<p style="text-align: left; color: #4d4d4f; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; border: initial none initial;">The 2GB of DDR2 RAM makes for an excellent starting point for the Windows Vista Home Premium operating system (we don't recommend anything less for either it or Ultimate), and the 500GB hard drive allows you plenty of space for recording shows via the pre-installed TV-tuner card. Still more storage is accessible via the HP Media Drive and Pocket Media Drive bays, which accept HP's removable hard drive modules. There's also a 15-format flash-card reader, and you can hook up your surround-sound speakers to the integrated eight-channel audio jacks. There's onboard Ethernet, as well as built-in 802.11b/g Wi-Fi for easily connecting to your wireless network (though for the coming generation of wireless media-sharing devices for the home, 802.11n would have been a better choice).

I have had my laptop for a couple of months and I love it. It is easy to setup and use. The start-up instructions where easy and was set right out of the box. I have parched this for my home office and it is what I need to take to a clients house and do grant writing and budget planning. The screen is big and easy to read. The programs are fun and exciting to use. My children love to watch movies and play games. The kids love looking and my daughter is blind in one eye and I am able to adjust the screen for her to see better. I am always online and lve the ease of the keyboard. I am able to bring this to the office and use it. I download all my pictures and edit them. The computer has a photocard slot and is so easy to download photos.

This is my opinion. I think most hp computers are not engineered properly. All are lookalike a copy cat. How could one fan cool down 3 monsters IC's, which are heat sink together? I do not know why the video IC, is not built on separate board with its own cooling fan, or at least it should have socket that people could buy the IC and change it instead of tossing the motherboard which is too expensive. I do not know if hp cares about customer satisfaction anymore or not? So far anyone I talked to said to me Apple's computer are the best, they look good, they work good, they engineered good, and they last long.
...

We got our hp laptop about two years ago and have so much trouble with it since nearly the beginning. This is our first laptop. We love the portibilty of it but it does som strange things. It will turn off to the screen saver and then when you turn it back on the screen remains blank. The DVD drive won't open when he hit the button but then for no reason will open by itself. When we run any programs it will eventually tell us that it has encountered a problem and has to shut down. We have always had an antivirus of some kind with this computer and we try and clean the hard drive up every so often but nothing seems to fix the problems. We really only use for internet use and email. I would think that this was just us but some of our family also have hp laptops and have had problems with them. They also say that when they buy their next laptop that they will not be getting an HP. I don't know if their desktops work any better than their laptops. I hope so because we...
...

I love the big screen, does get very very warm so I have it sitting on a cooling rack to keep the airflow going. Webcam works when it wants to.. But I use it to look things up or email and play games work great for all that.. I got this May of 2007...
...

As I sit here writing my review, I'm on my HP Pavilion dv9000, I've got to say it was totally worth the money. I got a steal on a Memorial Day weekend sale at Best Buy. After bargian shopping, I found it was the best price for the area and they had another sale the next week and gave me the discount from that, too! I ended up only paying $650 total for everything, which turned out to be great.

I haven't had any major problems with the computer, but I do clean it off every 6 months to make sure I keep it running smoothly. It's lasted me 2 and a half years, which is GREAT these days!

I have no problems running my Adobe graphic programs, AutoCad, Word, Excel and all those as well, however I'm not a big fan of the Vista that comes on it. I'm an avid Mac fan, so I have to say that Vista is not my fave. The keyboard, however was perfect for use with Autocad and was pretty much the reason I bought the computer!

I've been happy with my previous HP laptop, which was the 4000 series...so, I decided to upgrade to a newer HP. The DV9000 has been a great laptop. The keys took a little bit to get used to, since it has a number pad built in, but it's been a plus. Also, I love the fact that it has an SD card slot, along with several USB ports, which is a big upgrade from the 4000 series. The buttons that are at the top of the keyboard for the DVD player are great, since it's touch ready. The only exception that I've had a problem with from time to time is the volume key within the keys on top. I prefer to use the volume from the shortcut menu at the bottom of the screen, so it hasn't hindered me any. I'm not a huge Vista fan, since I miss my XP, but I've gotten used to it now, so it isn't a problem anymore.

Overall, the quality of the HP DV9000 is great! The extra features, along with the widescreen display makes it a great laptop to have!
...

I have been the owner of a HP Pavillion 9000 since June 2007. The machine was a bit quirky (probably due to Vista we figured) but we dealt with most of the networking issues. The DVD recording feature stopped functioning but we created work arounds for this too. In November 2008 the screen started displaying a bunch of lines and then went black. I had three days of hell dealing with customer support which put $400 for video card repair on my credit card when I requested a box and thought I was paying for shipping. I had to escalate to a case manager and pull my old paperwork to prove to them that I purchased an extended warranty to get the $400 removed from my credit card. The machine came back a week later reimaged and supposedly repaired but a month later the same symptons occurred. Now I am hearing the same story from HP all over again--send it back and we'll repair it. Oh sure. They replaced the mother board and and the video card. What are they going to do next? ......

I rated this as above average but not outstanding just because it is pretty basic, with no over-the-top spectacular features that impressed me, but everything is quite satisfying.

I got this laptop refurbished on eBay, it has served me very well with no technical problems for almost a year now. I can't stand Vista, so I got it with XP media edition, very satisfied with the performance. I have never had problems with it overheating (maybe because I leave space between the laptop and the surface it is on - common sense). I have 2 gb of RAM, runs great with Photoshop, InDesign, SketchUp, AutoCAD. Has a really nice video card. The sound is satisfactory and I like the Quick Play feature for DVDs. I really needed the 17" screen for AutoCAD, so I can't complain that it is hard to find cases for that size, but I mentioned that anyway....
