PLEASE READ IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR PET!

I took my cat to the vet and was told that she had worms, which is most of the time caused by fleas. The vet didn't see any fleas on her, but said to play it safe and give her the treatment anyway. So instead of buying the expensive brand I bought Hartz. You hear the name "Hartz" quite often, so I decided to try it. I applied it a on the back of her neck and left for work. My sister called me and I told her about it. She told me that she knew someone who's pet had died from it. So I became nervous and decided to run home and check on her. As soon as I walked in the door I found her sitting and staring in the corner, which is not like her. I noticed she was shaking. I called the vet and told him and he said to give her a bath with Dawn soap. I did but she still had the shakes, so I took her to the E.R. The doctor there told me that she was poisioned from the medicine and she was having tremors pretty badly. She told me that I was very lucky that...
...

This year is the only year my maltese has ever had fleas. She has had them ever since we picked her up from the vet after getting spayed and we have not been able to get rid of them since. I have been using Hartz for about 4 months now and the fleas only seem to be getting worse. Sure it is a lot less expensive but the fact that the stuff does not work at all means that it is a complete waste of money. As far as I am concerned, Hartz did not even put a dent in the number of fleas biting my dog.

My mother in law told me over the phone this week that one of her daughter's kittens died as a result of using Hartz and this was verified by the veterinarian that Hartz was indeed the culprit. I have also heard other horror stories where Hartz has caused serious illnesses in both dogs and cats. I wish I had known this before I tried it on my dog. However, I did not see any issues with her health while using this product other than the fact that it simply did not work.
...

I had seen this harts flee product onthe shelf of my local Wal-mart. Not needing any flee treatments for my dog at the time Imade a mental note to myself about it. Being a single mother of three,in this economy today it would save me some money on flee and tick drops, and the vet visit as well.

Not long after that day I had realized that my dog had flees. I went to Wal-mart and purchase the harts flee drops along with the harts flee collar and house spray.

Two days later, my dog still had flees and they had gotten to the point that the flees were jumping on my off of my floors. I realized that I was going to have to get the stuff I usualy get, this product was a wast of my money and did not work at all.
...

Hartz 3 in 1 flea and tick repellant caused my cat to become ill.

My vet suggested a specific brand, but I did not see the harm in buying something that was on sale and several dollars cheaper that claimed to do the same job. Was I ever wrong!

Shortly after applying the drops according to the instructions, my cat began to act strangely. He was acting disoriented, his eyes looked odd and he was hiding which is not his usual self. When the symptoms were the same the next day, I took him to the vet who told me that Hartz flea and tick products sometimes cause this shock reaction in cats more than any other brand. She said, while the product is safe for most pets, it is not safe for all and there are other alternatives that have far superior safety records with cats.

I can accept the fact that any product might not be appropriate for all pets, afterall I was told to use something else. But there is no warning on the label, no suggestion of precautions. This is comepletely...
...

Hartz Mountain's flea and tick products have a deplorable safety record over the years. They use a 40 year old pesticide ingredient, phenothrin, in the volume of 85.7% which is a dangerous neurotoxin that has a documented history of injuring and killing thousands of dogs and cats. Hartz's cat and kitten products were terminated by the EPA in 2006 after the EPA issued a Cancellation Order in the summer of 2005. The EPA was overwhelmed with the number of adverse incidents reported by pet owners. Please check with your veterinarian before applying over the counter flea and tick products--you may save your own pet.
...

Hartz 3 in 1 flea and tick repellant is one of the best and most reasonably priced flea repellants on the market.I have used it on my dog,Gracie since she was 8 mos. old.I admit to using other products, but I came back to the HARTZ brand because of the ease of use,and the consistant lack of fleas or ticks on my dog.Hartz has been around since I was little,I trust the brand and the products sold by this company.
...

For the first time in her life, my dog had fleas. I found out on a Saturday evening when the local veterinarian offices were closed. I was desperate and hence my purchase of Hartz Ultra Guard Flea & Tick Drops.

I also purchased a flea shampoo that night and gave my beloved pooch a long and sudsy bath. I saw the dead fleas after I rinsed her and waited until she was completely dry before applying the Hartz drops. I was feeling pretty confident that we'd get the flea problem fixed in no time.

I couldn't have been more mistaken. After a few days with no signs of fleas, they suddenly returned in full force. The Hartz Ultra Guard Flea & Tick Drops packaging states to only use the product once per month so I didn't want to put it on my dog again. I gave her another flea bath to no avail.

Finally, I had enough and called my veterinarian. After telling him what I bought, he told me that I wasted my money and that I needed something more effective. So my precious dog is now...
...

I also wanted to try Hartz because it said on the package that it would kill fleas and flea eggs, stopping the flea cycle, but it did the opposite. It was almost as if it attracted the fleas because this last summer, we had a horrible flea problem, so I would give our dog a bath with flea shampoo, let it sit for 5 minutes, watch the dead fleas go down the drain, dry him off, and check him thoroughly, then as soon as he would go outside to go potty, I could see the fleas jumping on him because he has white on his legs and it was so easily visible that it wasn't doing its job. Cheap product and cheap results....

I just recently came into a slight flea problem and am trying to minimize it. I thought by going to buy this product, since it was right at the store, that it would be effective enough to treat a few fleas on my two dogs. Boy, was I wrong. I was even told by my groomer that the treatment only last two weeks if that....I don't even think it worked at all. I checked them again, and there were a couple of them on them that I had to personally go after with my nails! This product is worthless, in my opinion. I'm going to be purchasing some Frontline/Frontline Plus to fix the problem before it gets worse. Don't waste your money on this. I know that ones that you can only buy from the vet or online pet stores, but it's worth the money to buy others...with this one, you'll have to keep buying and buying and never get the problem solved....
