Yogin says "Softail Deluxe, awesome ride with balance of vintage and modern" about Harley-Davidson Softail Deluxe - 2008 Motorcycle

I've owned one since 2007, and have ridden both local and cross country trips. Beautiful ride, great balance, wonderful power, great looks, and no problems to date at 10,000 miles. Gets comments and stares everywhere you go.

The one complaint I have, is that Harley should know that changing out OEM parts for after market is a given for many, if not most riders. The most common changeovers being air cleaners, pipes, and seats.

On the Deluxe, the riders seat has a beautiful vintage look grab rail running around the back of the seat. Unfortunately, H.D. designed it so that the rail is bolted to the seat itself, making it difficult to go with an after market seat without losing the rail.

If you customize the existing seat in order to keep the rail, you can't remove the skirt without the ugly bolts which attach the rail to the seat, showing.

With a little ingenuity, it can be got around but Harley should have thought of that.
...

This 2008 H.D. FLSTN of mine ran soooooo "HOT" when I bought it that I filed a D.O.T. complaint. We all know how much good that did. I then proceeded to add:

         1) Two (not one but 2) Jagg oil coolers [did not cool enough]

          2) A cam with long duration and high lift for the exhaust valve.

           3) free breathing air intake and free flowing exhaust pipes

            4) a special tuner ,S/E race tuner, because of the modifications.

The bike now runs quite cool---after I spent another $3000.00---that is, after my initial outlay for the bike of about $18,ooo.oo.

How hot did it run originally, you ask------ oil temps=300-350 degrees

                                                                        head temps=almost 400 degrees

and mind that these temps were a distance of about three inches(3") from my seat, read rear end . ...
...

GeorgeChabot says "Deluxe style and comfort in a big, brawny cruiser" about Harley-Davidson Softail Deluxe - 2008 Motorcycle

Harley-Davidson has developed some exciting bikes since they became employee owned, teetering on the verge of bankruptcy in the mid-eighties. What a turn around for the company, from just about out of business to a lean and mean organization that has case studies written about the excellence of its management for use in prestigious business schools.

Harley's strength has always been in their heavyweight motorcycles and they have an impressive array of models to choose from. Each model has plenty of unique details to delight your eye and the thumpa-thump idle is guaranteed to ignite your desire for the open road.

The 2008 Harley Softail Deluxe is a member of the Softail family, one of the three divisions of the heavyweight motorcycle line. There are seven other members of the Softail family to choose from, ranging from mild to wild, but all with that unmistakable 96 cubic inch monster V-Twin with the rumbling exhaust.

The Softail series has a low riding frame that looks like the classic......
