Whenever I hear the words "amazing" and "great" about a movie I know that's either bogus, or highly exaggerated. "Hard Candy" fell in the middle of this. I thought it was a good movie but overrated.

The plot isn't original nor are the characters. One victim or crusader targets a sick pedophile who she suspects of abducting, sexually abusing young girls and probably killing one.

However, her crusade with the pedophile is more of an obsession, a sick obsession. How sick we find out in the movie.

Like I said revenge flicks aren't anything new and so right there my grade for this movie dropped of a bit. Also some people described this as a cat and mouse game but I disagree. While there one or two scenes where Jeff gets away, we all know he won't. The film is totally dominated by Hayley (Ellen Page) too much to the point where I wasn't surprised by anything. It would have made for a better twist seeing the victim actually be worse than the sicko. They did do this for first thirty minutes but...

Have you ever watched one of those movies where you thought to yourself This movie's kind of slow, when's the action gonna start? Well, for the first 20 minutes or so, that would probably be your first impression of Hard Candy. But if you are patient, the movie quickly "kicks it up a notch". I'm not going to give away any of the many terrific and unique parts of the movie (because personnally, I hate it when people do that because I like being surprised). If yu like movies that are full of suspense and twisting (and twisted) plots, then this is most definitely the movie you want to see. I'm not gonna reveal what happens, but the ending is sure to make you say "OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!" Well, that's what I said anyway. Watch this movie - Hard Candy. It's entertaining. It's full of surprises and twists. It's even MORE full of terrific acting. It's one of those movies that you could watch more than once as well. Thank you for reading my review.

Hard Candy starring a young but truly amazing Ellen Page (of Juno) and Patrick Wilson(very underated),this film was actually based on a true story about a couple of girls in Japan who try to lure pedophiles through the internet and "show them a lesson".This film was actually very well shot,acted,and scripted.Patrick Wilson's portrayal of a "normal" pedophile makes your skin crawl-yet you actually feel sorry for him,for you realize he is actually a very troubled young man.I am not very fond of the ending(i wont spoil it for those of you who havent seen it),and i think it should've been shot differently.But nonotheless,its a heartbreaking,powerful film and also,iunfortunately,very true film.

Hard Candy is a rivoting, sometimes hard to watch movie. It looks deep into the issues of meeting people on the internet, and never really knowing what you will get. Ellen Paige is a fantastic actress, and this is one of her best performances. She plays a teen girl, who picks up a man on the internet, who has hurt her best friend. I will warn you now..If you are a male..some scenes WILL make you want to vomit. I enjoyed every minute of this movie, and have watched it again and again on DVD....

The internet can be a scary place. But is it possible for the stereotypical prey, to become the preadator?
Meet Haley, a 14-year-old girl who finds herself at the apartment of a 30-something man who she met on the internet. But when things take an interesting turn, Jeff, the man, wakes up after Haley had slipped something into his drink. The tables have turned and Haley is holding Jeff prisoner, suspecting that he knows what happened to Donna Mauer, a girl who disappeared, and wanting to make sure it never happens again.
While Hard Candy is an off-the-beaten path film with only 5 actors, it is a surprisingly good movie that will keep you thinking for a long time after seeing it.

Ellen Page is quickly becoming one of my favorite actresses. I hope she continues to do roles where the writing is smart and interesting. I also very much like Patrick Wilson, after seeing him in "Little Children" I decided to see what else he had done.

Well, I was quite shocked and amazed at the story line of this movie. As I was watching it the movie i kept thinking about the "First Wives Club." Female revenge on behalf of their friends against specific men who have done horrible things.

Although I think Wilson is quite good looking, his acting was such that he did not appeal to me at all in this movie. The script was excellent, and the continual twists, she is on top, he is on top twists kept me engaged from the first online chat until the very satisfying conclusion.

For me this was a very effective female revenge fantasy movie. If you have not seen it you should.

This movie was a little slow in the begining, but after that was great. I didn't want to move from my seat. This movie was something i think all parents should watch, even if you don't have a computer in their home. In today's world this could happen! I was on the edge of my seat with this movie. Ellen Page gave an outstanding performance as a 14 year old girl who decides to turn tables on a pedophile. Instead of being preyed on she decides to turn tables and become the predator. It's a must see movie. Although there were tough moments to watch it was definitely worth it. I've never seen a movie like it be for, it really stands out on its own. This movie goes where no other movie has before....

I was wondering if they would ever get out of the house. Much of the thrilling occurs in the kitchen, while a high school girl, played by Ellen Page, terrorizes a child molesting kidnapper. She scares the beejeebees right out of the viewer by performing an operation where the sun doesn't shine. Ouch, that's gonna leave a mark!

A great nail biting, suspensful thriller.

After watching previews after preview of the new upcoming movie Juno, I was curious about the girl who played the main character in the movie. Ellen Page. I know I had seen her somewhere before, in a movie that left quite an impact on me. Only, I couldn't quite place the movie, till today when browsing Blockbuster.com for movies, I remembered to actually keyword her name.

To my terrific surprise, up popped the movie that I had been looking for, Hard Candy.

The Plot

The beginning is basically a parents worst nightmare.

Hard Candy starts with a teenage girl chatting online on her computer with someone she obviously has chatted with before. You cannot tell, is this person she is chatting with a friend, or is she chatting with a friend that wants to be more than just a friend?

Within a few moments, you are taken to a coffeehouse where the camera focuses on this young boy... wait, no, the kid with the red jacket is in fact a girl, her name is Hayley (Ellen Page). The haircut totally made her...

Hands down this is one tightly wound provocative psychological thriller centered around a physical game of cat and mouse that is as fascinating to watch as a train wreck. It's two main characters( Ellen Page and Patrick Wilson)who deliver explosive performances show you that never know who you will meet in a chat room.

To go into full detail will spoil this movie so the baldly stated story reads like this: after a coffee shop rendezvous between sweet innocent 14-year-old Haley(Page)and 32-year-old fashion photographer Jeff (Wilson) the two decide to go back to Jeff's to take photo's and after a drink and a nap the movie turns into a meticulously planned game of retribution. Jeff has done this before but never has he met a girl like Haley. You tend to feel sorry for this 14yr old child but as the movie rolls on your tune may change somewhat.Througout the movie the rug is snatched out from under you sending your heart racing to the very end.
