I have suffered from severe sinus infections ever since I was a little kid. I get one about once a month, sometimes more. I always get an awful sore throat and I can barely swallow anything - so I'm stuck with cough drops.

I hate the fruity flavored mentholated ones - mint and fruit really don't mix. So I was stuck with the minty flavored mentholated ones which made it difficult to eat or drink anything since the mint flavor left-over in my mouth made everything taste awful.

When these came out, I was a little skeptical. How would they help with the pain if they aren't mentholated? Wouldn't it be the same as sucking on hard candy?

They're much better than candy. The pectin in them cools your throat much like menthol. However, they don't numb as well as menthol does so if your sore throat is really awful then you may opt for the mentholated drops. The fruit flavor is amazing.

The only thing that really irks me is that they're 20 cents more and you get 5 less drops than the regular halls....
...

I was having problems with a cough and soar throat last month, and we had a pouch of the non-mentholated Halls Breezers in the house that I decided to try for the first time. I was there when we purchased them for about two dollars, not really inclined to try them out because of the fruity flavor, but noting that I could put them to use should the opportunity arise. Well after dealing with a scratchy and irritated throat for a few days, I decided to cave in and give the Halls Breezers a try. Popping open the little pouch of 25 drops, I noted that they really resembled a piece of candy, and it seemed a little odd at first.

The taste of the Halls Breezers very much resembled candy as well, coming off as a thick strawberry taste, making me feel like I was having an Italian Soda with a lot of syrup mixed into it. The taste wasn't bad mind you, but it did come on a little strong, and of course a lot fruity in this context. Dissolving the drop in my mouth over the course of what seemed...
...

I bought these thinking they were a great addition to the Halls cough drop line but was not impressed. They didn't seem to me to be more then a piece of hard candy with a strange after taste. I'm not sure what they are supposed to accomplish but they did not make my throat feel any better then per say a butterscotch candy would have. I would not buy these again....

I've used Hall's throat and cough drops in one form or another since I was a kid. My grandfather used to keep a roll of the basic, menthol ones in his pocket and would hand them out to all of his grandchildren. As an adult, I suffer from frequent dry throat due to allergies. As a vocalist, it's important to keep my throat moist and functional, but I also don't want to blow away the people I'm singing with with a great gust of menthol breath. I've used several flavours of Halls Fruit Breezers, and Cool Creamy Strawberry is by far my favourite. It's functional and keeps my throat from getting scratchy, and has a refreshing taste that doesn't overwhelm....

When my throat is feeling itchy from coughing, this cools it right down. Also whenever I have a generally dry mouth, this takes care of that too. I love these things. And they're delicious to boot! Nothing soothes my dry itchy throat better than these, and they don't have that nasty medicinal taste. I'll even give them to my three year old when she's coughing or having an itchy throat. I keep these stocked in my cabinet ALL the time....
