http://www.viewpoints.com/Half-com-reviews Wed, 26 Aug 2009 17:20:19 GMT Latest reviews about Half.com http://www.viewpoints.com/Half-com-review-63c5 <p>I ordered a graduate textbook online on August 14.  My credit card was charged the following day and the confirmation I received said I would receive the book between August 25th and August 25th.  OK.....  It took 11 days for the book to be shipped.  <strong>ELEVEN DAYS!!!!</strong>  Now it will be an additional 4-8 days or up to 12 days <strong>(so they say)</strong> before I'll actually get the book.  I have five chapters due in less than a week.  Now I'll have to go to the campus bookstore to buy the book anyway, thus making this "half price" plan cost me <strong>1-1/2 times the cost of the book.</strong>  My credit card company says the seller shouldn't charge you until the order is shipped anyway.  This company has NO CONTROL over their sellers and you have no recourse.  I'm going to contact my credit card company to get some help because this is ridiculous.  The seller has had use of my money for almost two weeks and I have nothing to show for it.  It's not like waiting for a check to clear - they get my money...</p>... The prices can be fantastic as long as you don't have trouble with the seller. You forget about customer service until it is needed. There is no such animal at half.com. My impression is that they see themselves as a web server for merchants. Their sellers are independent contractors, whom they only contact if necessary. I have had more luck getting help from Amazon with their marketplace sellers. Amazon actually has a customer service department, with people you can speak to, half.com does not.... I have purchased many a good book on half.com. I recently purchased a best seller for 75% off the list price, read the book and then a few weeks later sold it on half.com for 50 cents less than I paid for it. what a deal reading a book and then reselling it again, and the book was delivered right to my door. You can find most any kind of book you are looking for. If they do not have it in stock you can put it on your wish list and they will notify you when a seller has listed the titles you are looking for. check it out, they also list video games, movies and music. Great bargins for all. Be sure to check sellers ratings before purchasing.... I was able to save hundreds of dollars on my graduate studies text and study aids. This site is easy to use, with a reliability factor unmatached by any other site. I found the individual sellers and buyers (I would use the books and then resell them the next semester) honest and willing to answer questions about reducing shpping for multiple purchases, condition, refund policy, etc. </p><p>Half.com is serious about keeping the integrity of site. There are mechanisms for tracking items, evaluating sellers, commenting on process and they have a good customer service area for trouble shooting. </p><p>I now use the site for my leisure reading and professional tomes at reduced rates. I use the "wish list" function which notifies me when new listings of my wish list and within my price range are listed. I also like the feature that asks me if I want to sell a copy of the book I have (because it is on someone else's wish list. </p>...
