I bought a HP Pavillion dv2000 laptop from compUSA 2 1/2 years ago and it was the worst experience EVER! I struggled with the laptop for 2 years I disabled every extra feature on vista (windows defender, index server etc...) and have to use a window fan pointed at the laptop 24/7 so it does not overheat and shut down.

I Tried to contact HP and always us got a big fat nothing from them even though I bought the extended service warranty.

Finally I got rid of Windows Vista and installed Windows 7, thinking that maybe the reason it overheated so muc was that vista is such a processor intensive OS.

After I finished installing Windows 7, I discovered 2 really annoying facts:

1. HP doesnt support Windows 7 for my display adapter.

2. There is a known defect in the hardware of my Pavillion dv2000 that causes the machine to overheat and a few other symptoms.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us〈=en&product=1842189&docname=c01087277#c01087277_identify

I finally had a number...
...

Bad all around. Bad website--hard to navigate. Phone calls get you transferred to no less than 5 people who are all transferring you back to the other person where you have to spend 4 minutes explaining who you are and why you are calling.
...

I'm not going to go into a lengthy rant about HP "customer service." I could, but I won't. My grievences include: faulty product (m9350f), botched/useless repairs x2, many hours of horrible phone support, and advancing male pattern baldness.

Not only are the "customer service" reps ineffectual, uninteligable and vastly under-educated, they are trained to frustrate you and get you to give up on your complaint.

I recently got a new Hp printer and Hp monitor.

First let me say they both are good products. And work even better if you have a pc. I hope.

I have had to call thier customer service for both these products. Only to find out that "they are not made to work with Apple, or Mac. " I made many phoine calls and had "chat " sessions. Only one lady was kind in her information for me. No attitdue, She did owrk to try and find me help. But it seem HP does not give any information to anyone on how to "fix" a problem. I asked why is this not put on a sticker or some were onthe unit so people so not waste their time and money on these.?

I have had call other people who have an HP to get help. I don't knwowhat I will buy when I need to replace either of my HP units, (monitor and printer.)
...

I had a minor problem with my HP laptop and had to have it sent to them to be fixed. HP sent it back to me without letting me know and shipped it FedEx. The package required a signature and is only delivered during business hours mon-fri. My other option was to pick it up at a facility 30 miles away but only during business hours. SInce I have a full time job during the only hours available I was not able to get my computer. Fed Ex has had my computer for 2 weeks now and with 8 calls to HP customer service they have had no solutions. HP has blatently told me it would change the delivery address and then not contacted HP. Overall customer service is a maze of recordings, no one can provide me with any answers or help me in any way. Each time I call I have to repeat the entire story and when I ask for a supervisor they say I have to call back, which is the most ridiculus thing I have ever heard. HP does not value their customer or take responsibility for their actions, I will...
...

First, I must say that I have no issues with the quality of the products that HP produces; in fact, I have been a devoted HP user for over twelve years now and I have been very pleased with all the PC's and peripherals I have owned. However, my recent experience trying to get service for my four-year old m1264n Pavillion under the HP Total Care extended warranty I bought has turned me away from HP. First of all, the over-the-phone tech support I got was really shabby at best; I'd get so far into the trouble-shooting and would be advised to call later when their systems were working better (it seems they were undergoing some sort of system maintenance?); but they didn't give me a ticket number so I had to start from scratch each time (four tries in total) and this was made more cumbersome by the "language barrier" I encountered!. Finally (after about 6 hours), it was determined that I had a hardware problem but they told me that the extended warranty I "had" only covered tech support...
...

Called HP Customer service as the wireless network card on my HP TX1000 US tablet PC died on me (1 yr and 2 months after it was bought brand new for 1200 USD).

The CS rep. (outsourced) was ignorant, incompetant and offered no help other than quoting a price of $299.00 to have it fixed.

I tried explaining that there had been over a 1000 complaints on the HP forums about the same issue and that I would like to see if it was a product defect. All he said as a response was that I hadnt purchased a warranty and because of that I would have to pay for it to be fixed.

This was my second HP laptop in 2 years (the first one's motherboard died a year and a month after it was purchased brand new - I didn't feel as bad as I had bought it on clearence for 600.00 USD and had got my money's worth)

Piece of **** HP quality and poor CS are to blame. I hope they pay for it one day soon...
...

I purchased a HP Pavilion Laptop 1 year and 4 months ago (4 months outside warranty), and the motherboard started to melt, burning internal peices making the Drive and wireless card useless. To fix this issue HP wants me to pay $400, around half of what I paid for the laptop.

I had two stores confirm that this issue was 100% the product NOT the user. All HP said was tht I was outside the warranty period and they cant do anything, I have been dealing with htis for 3 weeks now, half of the time I can't understand the Indian rep.

They want me to pay $400 to fix it, when it is 4 months outsdie the warranty and it's their FAULT!! They will not help me at all. There has been many issues with this. Both stores told me that HP should of done a recall but never did. I have called 6 times and have gone as far as I can up on the escalations and they will not help me.

roziepalm says "The worst customer service I've ever had" about HP customer service

My saga starts with it taking tech support almost an hour and a half to diagnose a malfunctioning network card (that my ISP diagnosed in under 10 minutes). It took over 3 weeks and dealing with very rude customer service reps to get my 'repaired' computer back. They reformatted the entire hard drive- with no warning- and claim this is standard for ANY REPAIR they do under warranty?! So if this lemon desktop screws up again, I have to back up all my data and go through the work of reinstalling everything, again. And yeah, I should have had the common sense to make a backup, but since not one word was said, I didn't- and lost pictures saved to the hard drive of a deceased loved one.

For anyone that wants it, the corp number is 800-756-0608, but they just bump you back to tech support. I've filed multiple complaints with the Better Business Bureau and would recommend that to everyone that has a bad experience- or they'll just keep screwing unsuspecting buyers....

If you have any hp products do not expect customer support! My printer stopped communicating with my printer so I tried to use the touble shooting tips but quickly got lost. So then I tried using the online chat....wasn't running. So finally, I called customer service. The first thing they talk to about is how you have to buy the rights to use customer support! If the other systems they had were working I would have used them, but since they weren't apparently I have to pay $35 dollars so they can click a few buttons. Customer service is also outsourced so when I had an objection to the charge he just fumbled over words and could say nothing except his script. If you want to buy from a company that cherishes and respects their customers do not buy from hp.
...

I recently purchased the new HP mini100. I was excited beacuse of its compact size and large keyboard. So far, granted I've only had the unit for about 4 days, the product is great.

HOWEVER, in addition to the mini, I also purchased a 2 year extended service plan for almost $200. I logged on to register the certificate today. Sounds easy enough...ABSOLUTELY NOT the case. My first attemp resulted in an error message that stated the service was not available at this time. So, I thought, just call them. After being transferred to LITERALLY 4 different departments, someone finally though he was the right person to resigter my prodeuct and service plan. Over a 30+ minutes conversation, I provided him with serial and unit numbers for the unit and service pack about 10 times. First of all, I ordered the product directly through hp.com, so wouldn't they know what they sent me? After the initila 30 minutes, the HP rep then informed me the serial number for the HP mini was incorrect. "I'm looking......

HP's customer service lacks concern and compassion for the consumer. I have never been this disappointed by a customer service/ support experience in my life. I am a network administrator for a medium size business and decided to try out HP desktops. I downgraded the desktop to XP pro and soon found out that the drivers for the network controller were not available on the web. To my utter dismay, the tech support could not point me in the right direction to find the drivers and the motherboard manufacturer did not provide them either.

At this point I decided to simply return the product and purchase good ol' Dell. The return process turned into a complete nightmare. The business owner's name is on the HP account so they would not return the product without speaking to him!! I figured if they wanted to speak to my owner (that I never see) I should be able to speak to theirs:) Of course they said that wasn't possible but expect it from other companies. I was transfered...
...
