I was skeptical about watching The Gridiron Gang since it had not recieved much attention in the media. I am glad I watched it though, it was a good story and I like that it was based on actual happenings. I don't know if I would re watch it but I am glad I watched it the first time! You feel for the characters even though they are in jail. You can see how their backgrounds have affected their lives and put them on the wrong track. It was nice to see that they were finally given a chance and that someone believed in them. Even if you do not like football you can appreciate this movie and what its all about. The Rock does a better job in the movie than I thought he was going to. I did not recognize any of the other cast but I thought they fit the parts....

While watching Grid Iron Gang I was completely invovled from the very start. This movie makes you realize how good you have it being in a safe home and not having to worry about being killed. This is excatly what they were going for so I give Grid Iron Gang full props....

I recently saw this movie on the Encore channel. I had heard it was supposed to be pretty good. I turned it on to watch while I was making dinner. Needless to say, dinner was late that night, as once I started watching, I stop making dinner.

The movie is about a juvenile detention center counselor who wants to use football to give his detainees some self-esteem. After only three weeks of practice the 'gang' is humiliated in their first football game and the director wants to pull the plug on the project.

Meanwhile the counselor, played by The Rock, is struggling with his own issues, due to a verbally abusive father, and the fact that his mother is dying.

I don't want to go any further with the story as it will ruin the movie for you, but your heart will touched as you watch the kids grow to trust one and other and gain faith in themselves.

If you like a heartwarming story, give it a try. I laughed and I cried and I have been watching for it to play again. There is some voilence...
