My family and I recently took a vacation to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The park is located between Tennessee and North Carolina. It is definitely a must see. The park is 814 square miles of majesty and beauty.

There are plenty of things to do while visiting the park. Hiking, biking, auto touring, fishing, and lots of others. The best part of all is you can enjoy this park and what it has to offer for free.

On our vacation we enjoyed going to Grotto Falls, Clingman's Dome, a Jr Rangers Program,Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail, and Newfound Gap Rd. We also hiked for a few feet on the Appalachian Trail at it's highest point at Clingman's Dome.

Grotto Falls was a 3 mile roundtrip hike on a winding wooded trail. Since you are hiking up a mountain there is an incline but not too bad. It leads to a beautiful 25 foot waterfall. It's the only one in the park that you can walk behind. You can also let your little one play in the water. If you are wanting peace and quiet try this hike....
...

I LOVE the Great Smokey Mountains. It is a favorite vacation destination with my family. We usually go to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, TN. We go as often as we can and are even thinking of moving there. It's soooo beautiful. It seems so different there than here. Not just because of the huge mountains (which we don't have in Florida), but people seem happier and easy going. The air smells clearer. You can have hustle and bustle or peace and serenity. My favorite trip there was when my family spent a whole week at a pretty secluded cabin. It was beautiful and and peaceful and we ALL loved it!...

the Smoky mountains are such a serene and peaceful place. If you like real solitude and beauty check out at the beginning of the Smokies around The Ocoee River (amazing white water river). Only local type restaurants and beautiful scenery. Then, if you want you can continue to Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge (dont forget to visit Cade's Cove) and those two towns are way more tourist-oriented....

I visit the Smoky Mountains every year on my anniversary. My husband and I got married in the Smoky Mountains. I love the beautiful scenery and the many things to do there. Every year we rent a cabin and stay at least a weekend. Sometimes we just get to missing it so bad when we're not there vacationing that we talk about moving in that area. We made our last trip to the Smoky Mountains only a few weeks ago. We stayed 3 days in a cabin. We enjoyed Ober Gatlinburg and shopped in Pigeon Forge and Cherokee before we came home. We also took the very scenic drive around Cade's Cove. That's a must see if the weather is nice! There is many beautiful animals and lots of friendly people in the Smoky mountains. Everyone should visit at least once!...

There is just something about the Smokies. It gets in your blood, and keeps you coming back year after year. I have been every year for the last 15 or more years. Although, the last 6 have mainly been in March or April. I really want to get back in the summer or fall. We use to rent a motel, until few years go. There is nothing like staying in a cabin. The view is breath takinng. This year we chose to stay at a cabin, then spend our last night at Riverchase motel (for the kids). They loved it. I went to school to be a photographer, then had my children, and well life just happened. Anyways, I've never gotten more beautiful pictures than here in the Smokies. A little something for everybody, helicopter rides, horse back riding, fishing, biking, hiking, just going over the mountain is an adventure....

I love this area. It is so beautiful and peacful and there is no way you can get bored. I go back year after year and would easily recommend (and have) this as a place to visit and spend time at. Even the drive to get there is beautiful although at certain times of the year and depending on what events the towns are holding the traffic can get a little backed up....

My family and I live 2 hours from the Smokies but love to get away once or twice a year to spend a few days in the Smokies. It is so nice to get a cabin or even a hotel in the middle of the action. There is an endless supply of things to do and see. It's nice being close and being able to go try different things throughout the year. But, if you are traveling from far away and want to make the most of a few days you should definately use a day to go to the Aquarium, shop the outlet malls, eat dinner at Dixie Stampede (wonderful food and great entertainment for the whole family). If you like amusement parks definately go to Dollywood. Ride the skytram in Gatlinburg up to Ober Gatlingburg. There are ton of things to do there including Ice Skating. And use a day to go to Clingman's Dome and take in the scenery. It's nice to just walk through Gatlingburg and go in all the shops. You will not get bored here!! There is something for everyone!
...

We go to the Smokey Mountains every year for a big family reunion! We usually rent a large cabin in Pigeon Forge. We go a few days early before the rest of the family arrive at the cabin & camp in The Great Smokey Mountains! We love Smokemont & Elkmont campgrounds! When staying at smokemont we travel on into the Cherokee village to shop while some go biking in the mountains. One of our gang is a big fisherman usually gets a guide to take him on a fishing trip to get pointers on his fly fishing! We love to hike on the trails & especially like to go to Laurel Falls where we almost always see real live bears! We have lots of photos of bears! It is an awesome place to go!...
