Grand Cayman was nice. It was too windy so the Governor closed Sting Ray City. Arrived via Liberty of the Seas, Royal Caribbean. Tendering took too long. Water was beautiful though. Would possibly go back....

We went to Grand Cayman in 2003. We revisited in 2004 on a Carnival Cruise, and things were much the same as they were in 2003. I can't guarentee that things may STILL be the same as they were back then, but these are some of the things that may spark your interest if you are thinking of traveling there.

Everything is expensive. We ended up staying in a timeshare which was beautiful, but we bought a lot of our own food from the local grocery store and everything was two to three dollars more than it was in Miami. Everything has to be shipped to the island, so I am sure they have to charge more because of the fact.

Don't buy any of those touristy trinkets at your timeshare or hotel. They offer the same stuff in town (which is also much like most of the other trinkets and souvenirs you get on the other islands - no joke) and it's for a MUCH lower price. We were going to buy this "Grand Cayman" ashtray as a joke for one of my friends at the timeshare gift shop - it was $6. When we...
...

TnTWalter says "One of the Best and so Close to Home" about Grand Cayman

Grand Cayman is one of the prettiest Caribbean Islands that's still easy to get to! It's a hop skip and a jump from America which makes it an easy spot. It is definitely more expensive than some, but has so much to offer. White sand, turquoise water, fantastic scuba and snorkel opportunities, fine dining, from luxurious accomodations to more moderate accomodations, even some 'off the beaten path' areas for you. It feels safe and is easy to explore. The people are wonderfully friendly and inviting. Swim with the Stingrays at Singray City with a group or swim among them in solitary at Rum Point. You can snorkel from many locations or rent a car and stop at spots where it's just you and the underwater life. Enjoy fine dining overlooking the ocean or right on the beach. Just go and enjoy!...

I had a lot of fun in Grand Cayman. I went to Hell, which is a wierd rock formation. I also went to the Turtle Farm, which was interesting. You get to pick up the different sea turtles, which is neat. My favorite excursion was Stingray City. They take you a few miles out into the ocean to a sandbar where there are hundreds of stingrays who will swim right up to you. It was really amazing....
