vivasuzi says "It's got cool features, but there are a few features that bug me" about Gmail

I started using Gmail as a secondary email address after my primary one was just getting too buggy for me. Since it is made by Google, I figured it would be a high quality product and it is - for the most part.

Learning about Labels: After I started using Gmail, I learned a lot about using Labels as opposed to folders. I liked this philosophy so much that I do the same thing at work now! Instead of trying to sort mail out into folders, all mail essentially stays in your inbox and you just label it whatever you'd like. I have dozens and dozens of filters set up to auto-label my mail. This makes it so I can easily filter my mail by Restaurants, Gift stores, etc. As you can see by my photo, I haven't clicked my MyPoints emails in awhile!

Although I do like labels over folders, I do still wish I could add a folder or two here and there for things like "save" or "completed" that I don't really want to delete but also don't need in my Inbox anymore. I will survive without this...
...

Lindzbabe06 says "Gmail is the best email service out there" about Gmail

I've had multiple email accounts with different email services, but the one I've found that I'm the most satisfied with is Gmail. It's free, super easy to set up, easy to use, and organized very well. I love all the storage that is available because I never run out of room. I never have any problem opening anything or sending anything, yet Gmail also protects my privacy and always asks if I want to allow certain emails to send attachments or show pictures. I also love the chat in Gmail and how quick and easy it is to see if my other friends are online that have Gmail so I can chat with them. Gmail also saves my conversations and makes it easy to search through my emails. I can save emails as favorites yet still see them in my main email as well so I don't have to search through multiple folders to find past messages that I'm looking for. Overall, I would highly recommend Gmail and I will continue using it for years to come.
...

Gmail is a bit confusing when you first begin using it but if you follow the online guides you will eventually get the hang of it. Once you do, you will be addicted. The email automatically groups together emails from the same email address, groups conversations or email having same subject matter. There is tons of storage space so you really never have to delete emails although I do. Your contacts will never get a message that your email box is full. There are many options to help you personalize the email and it is very easy to send and receive photos and attachments.
...

softball18 says "unlimited storage, unlimited possibilities" about Gmail

When I first started using Gmail, i was blown away by how much storage space there was offered. I dont e mail too much, but there have been a few times where i have either received or sent large e mail attachments. when i sent them to another gmail user, it was not a problem, but when i sent them to another host, like yahoo, it rejected it saying it was too large to send. Gmail also allows for labeling and filing, so it makes it easier to find e mails i need to come back to later. It has several different sorting options and groups e mails by subject. it is easy to set up to Mail on Macs. it is easy to personalize with themes to choose from. It also conveniently auto saves, incase your computer or internet stops working, your e mail isnt lost. There are also other sites you can access, such as calendar and documents that easily sync to each other. If a friend sends an e mail with dates, there is an option to automatically save it to the calendar for convenient viewing....
...

SoCalMama says "The best email service I have ever used!" about Gmail

I like gmail a lot. I've used it ever since it first came out and they continue to make improvements. I love the fact it has themes now, so I can change the way it looks. They have really awesome ones to choose from. I also like that it's connected to everythign else GOOGLE. My blogger account, my Picasa account, my Adsense account... I love that it's all in one. It's easy to control everything under one account.

I didn't like that I couldn't have a signature with pictures but then I found a cool Firefox Ap that works with Google to make image signatures.

So it seems every problem I encounter is easily fixed.

I haven't had any problems sending or recieveing my mail.
...

GrandmaIsGod says "Gmail is like not of the others and is just Awesome" about Gmail

Gmail is just as good as my favorite search engine Google which could be because it is from Google.

Not only do they have the best search engine the Gmail is unbelievable I have been a part of it since it was in beta testing and cannot believe how wonderful it is. I still have my hotmail and yahoo accounts only because I have different email accounts for different things in my life, like one just for my school etc. I have not had time tor transfer everything yet.

Gmail lets you tag you emails rather than make folders, in addition it puts all emails on the same subject or person grouped together. Also, there are many, many other features that make it worth having.

Google chat--lets you talk to anyone on Gmail or with an AIM account instantly, if you are both online the you can just chat with them and save your self and email or show yourself as off line and they won't know your online if you don't want to talk to anyone..

Google calendar--While I have not used this feature to great...
...

It never hurts to have a back-up email account. So, I signed up for a FREE Gmail account. They didn't ask for a credit card number or any other nonsense. After the initial set-up, I wondered how it would do sending photos. (I email a lot of photos.) In two words...IT SUCKS! Gmail, from what I can see on the web based version, only allows for sending the full sized photo. The recipient of your email also gets the full sized photo. Using a Kodak digital camera with 6 megapixels, that equates to about a 2.73 MB file to send & receive. What if the recipient of your email still uses dial-up? What if he and/or she prefers a smaller photo to both view & download? It's not possible using the web based version of Gmail. That's the bad.

Now the good... You can also set up Gmail with "Windows Live Mail". That's a program very similar to Outlook Express. In fact, according to the instructions I found, it will work with Outlook Express. Both Windows Live Mail & Outlook...
...

gmail is ok, but i hate how everything is in conversations. it is super hard to split messages and keep messages in the trash that is part of a conversation. i also dont like the idea of archiving and it doesn't let you create folder, but only lets you label things. makes email extremely annoying. also don't like how hard it is to view or access more than 100 messages at a time and selecting more than 100 emails....

Hands down, Gmail is the best of the best. Actually google (since google is the mother of gmail) provides more than email, but the best search engine, calendar, and personal infomation manager. Also, google has a book search (full text!), maps, and even more.
Gmail is much better than yahoo.
kid-kansas says "Sounds like another alternative to Yahoo Mail." about Gmail

I started using Gmail when I was selling my enclosed car hauler so I could keep the spam out of my regular email account. Seems when you place ads on many sites you get swamped with spam. I set up my account on Gmail in less than 5 minutes and even used a fake name since I didn't know how bad it would be.

Gmail Basics

Gmail is a product of Google and is very easy to use, it has all the features of the other sites and is very easy to navigate. It even allows you to enter chat with your friends right from your email page, now that is nice! It even keeps a list of your friends right there on the main page so you don't have to go searching for them.

The Gmail Edge

This one just flipped me out......All my other experience with email accounts just list each email on a separate line as they come in. To my utter surprise and delight Gmail has gone a step ahead in this department. I recently started selling some of my coin collection off and am getting replies on my ad...Well Gmail groups emails from......

Gmail is great. I was on here and everyone was talking about this gmail so I decided to check it out. Now that is my first choice for email because of the labels I can use. You have so much space and it's great not having to delete anything. I haven't been using it that long, but am starting to develop a pretty good list of labels and maybe soon will start using some new features.
...

MaineMomof2 says "The very best email provider I have ever had!" about Gmail

I made the switch to GMail after dealing with spam upon spam from my AOL account that I had had for over ten years. Having AOL was comfortable, and I was a little worried that as I made the switch I would lose some of my contacts and people would have a hard time sending mail to my GMail account. GMail couldn't have made the switch easier.

Not only does Gmail provide a great spam detector that weeds out the stuff you don't want to read - it detects items that you DO want to read and doesn't send them to your spam folder like a lot of other email providers (*ahem* AOL *ahem*) would do. I can't tell you how many times I didn't get an email on my AOL account because it was in the spam folder.

If you are looking for a better, faster, more technological email - look no further. GMail is the answer. It's so easy to set up, and it even provides an online address book as well as markers to tag the mail that you need to organize so you can find it more easily. What more could you ask for?...
...
