I know that Gillette and a number of companies have come up with all kinds of shaving gimmicks since the Gillette Venus razors were all the rage (I hear they now have battery-operated vibrating razors, razors with 4/5/6 blades, all kinds of sparkly razors and razors with super-fancy names)...personally, I think it's all overkill. I want an easy shave, I want it done fast, and I'd like it done inexpensively if possible. That's where the Gillette Venus razors come in - they hug closely to curves around knees and ankles to I can shave in a hurry without worrying about cutting myself. The refill cartridges can be expensive if you buy them in small packages - I buy them in bulk at Costco or eBay and those prices can't be beat (I also get my shave cream in bulk at Costco - I like to save the hassle of making multiple trips!).

Unless they come out with a magical razor that can make my legs silky smooth at the touch of a button/hands-free/allow me to kick back and drink a mojito during the process,...

The first Venus was great - just 3 blades. Then they came out with Embrace - which was even better. However now they added "moisture strips" which shorten the life of the blade significantly because they dry out very, very quickly. Gillette should also stop with the disposables and think "green." Most of us have the handle and are more than happy with refills but bring down the price. Over $3 a blade is ridiculous. Also stop producing these odd ones - Venus Spa is like shaving with an emery board. There is another type that I bought in a pinch when I couldn't find Embrace - they were different colors and each handle smelled like a different fruit. What a waste - keep the smell, get rid of the moisture strips that don't work and bring down the price of the best woman's razor on the market.

I had seen the razor advertised many times. I decided to purchase one after I found a coupon in my sunday paper.

I was very dissapointed. With a one blade shaver, I am done in no time. With the Venus, I had to go over the hair several times, and it still did not get all of the hair.

After only a few minutes of trying to shave, it seemed like the razor was dull. I decided to try to quit shaving the rest of the night.

I tried it again the next day with the same results, and I still could not get the hairs from the first night!
I am very glad I did not pay the full price for this item. I was very disappointed, and will not use it again,even if you give it to me!

I've been using Venus razors so long, it's hard to remember what shaving was like before them. I still remember my college roommate coming in after her first round with one, demanding I feel how smooth her leg was. I ended up getting one too. What impressed me wasn't the closeness of the shave, but how much faster it went with the Venus. The wide head just covered so much more surface area and rarely left any stubble to go over. Every time I go back to two- and even three-blade razors, I'm amazed at how tedious shaving seems and how long it takes.

Since then, I've tried a number of other four-(or more)blade razors. I just keep coming back to the Venus (although if it were cheaper, I'd just as soon use the male-marketed Mach 3 equivalent). The size of the head and feel of the handle just work for me. And even though blades are a little pricey, they really seem to stay sharp much longer than smaller ones.

The Gillette Venus Razor for women is the best razor I could ask for. Each razor head comes with 5 blades, which allows for the closest shave possible. My hair grows really fast, and I used to have to shave every day, but with this razor, I can shave every 2 or 3 days. The razor head has gel strips completely surrounding the blades, and adds moisture while shaving. The moisture strips also provide comfort, so it is gentle on your skin. The gel strips last incredibly long, so the need to replace the blade comes only when the blades begin to dull. This will save you money in the long run, from not having to buy new blades on a regular basis. The rubber on the handle provides for an excellent grip, so you don't have to worry about dropping the razor in the shower. The rubber is easy to clean, and will not mold if left sitting in the wet shower. So overall, the razor provides a close, safe shave, and the price is pretty good for your money. I strongly recommend it.

The Venus razors/kit is simply great. Easy to use, the razor lasts for a long time and you can tell when it needs to be replaced by the worn out moisturizing strips around the blades.

The head of the razor moves making it easy to shave around the ankles and kneees. The moisturizing strips just adds to the ease for using tis product. You can buy a large package of the blades and it last for a very long time and is not expensive at all.

You can shave intimate parts as well as legs, underarms and other. It has three powerful blades but is very gentle also. Use is with Skintimate gel for shaving and you'll have a smooth surface for days. This razor blades are high quality and don't cause razor bumps either. Using moisturizer and sometime baby power ensures protection for the sensitive skin, but is not as needed as much as with other poor quality razors. Also, the kit comes with a container with suction cup so you can attach it to the wall in your shower. Really great product!

I do like the Venus line of razors. I like the fact that it has four blades on the head. I also like the fact that it does come with the moisture strips, but I don't like how quickly the moisture strips wear down. I also like the fact that when you buy it as the "kit" that it comes with a mounting holder for it. I also like how you can store replacement blades inside the holder for easy access. I know that there used to be so many times when I would forget to get a new razor or change a razor head before I got in again and would have to get out of the shower, dripping wet and freezing to get another one! Another draw back is the fcat that the blades are so expensive.

Overall, I do like this product and I do keep buying the replacement blades, regardless of cost, because it does do a good job of removing the hair. I would reccommend this product to someone who has not used it before.

Gillette's Venus razor has been out for a long time, and i know they have different razors now with names like "Breeze" and whatever else attached to them, but I ude Venus...and if not, then I used to and still use the handle for it :)

The only downside to these is that the replacement blades are expensive (as with most things these days). I buy a large pack at Costco and use them every few days. Even during the summer, I avoid shaving every day because shaving tends to remove color you've received from tanning. If you run out of shaving cream, you'll still be fine using soap (liquid is best) because the blades have moisturizing pads on the top and bottom that prevent friction.

Don't use the blade without the handle stick thing like I did when I left it at a friend's house. The angle just isn't right, the blade is too small, and you'll end up cutting yourself. Ouch. Of course you wouldn't do that.

Not giving this 5 stars only because of the price.

I like the gillette venus. I bought this product a bout a year ago and it is ok. It is not the best shaver I have ever bought. Sometimes it misses hairs. So it is important to use it everyday. I feel like I have to use soap or shaving cream in order to make this shaver work great. I do like the colors and shape of the razor. I feel like gillette is really on the edge of what people mainly woman like. They are almost there.

The Gillette Venus disposable razor is worth every penny you pay for it. Don't let the green and blue colors throw you off. the packaging is not soo bulky that it seems like a waste of space. The lack of packaging makes me feel better that it is a little better for the enviornment. Once out of the package you will find that the razor cuts perfectly thru your hair effortlessly. Sometimes I don't even really pay attention when shaving. It just glides over the leg without nicks or cuts. The pivoting head of the razor is what is keeping your legs cut and nick free. I don't like using shaving cream. I want a razor that will cut perfectly with simply soap. This razor will cut thru hair with just the normal bar of soap. I love the feeling of my legs after I use this razor. It makes my legs silky and smooth. My husband always loves when I use the razor. He rubs my legs and compliments me on how smooth and lovely my legs are. You won't be disappointed. You...

i have used many leg shavers in my lifetime. Many of them are pretty darn good. The Venus leg shaver is the absolute best one ever. it costs a little more, but it is certainly worth the price. All of the major drug stores and discount places (eg. CVS, Walmart) carry them. They last a little longer than regular/other shavers, but I guess that depends on hair volume. I would highly recommend it to anyone who has ever gotten cut or scratched by shavers in the past. This one is contoured for both the hand holding the shaver, or the body part which is being shaved. You cannot ask for more from this product. The venus shaver is not over sized, so it is very convenient for travel, and easily identifiable in a cosmetic case.

The only negative thing about the shaver is the cost. The manufacturer may want to consider selling them indivdually or 2 in a pack because the quality is so high. there is really no need to buy four at a time.
