Transitioning from bottles to sippy cups can be an extremely difficult task. As a mother of twins it was hard trying to find the right cup for my children to transition to that did not leak and held up well. Gerber Graduates Sip and Smile Sippy Cups made it an easy task.
...

I tried a lot of sippy cups and spill proof/ durability was my biggest concern. I settled on Sip n Smile because I have never had one leak even when thrown as long as you push the valve in good. I never had any problem screwing on the lid. I always buy the ones without handles and When I put the lid on I give it a quarter turn lefty loosey to line it up then I tighten it on to the right. I was angry though with how hard they are to clean until I started trying different ways and settled on a simple and sanitary solution. (I don't have a dishwasher;( After all the other dishes are done I fill up enough hot water in the sink to submerge the cups completely disassembled, I add a little bleach and let them soak for a couple hours. Then I use one of those round brushes with the button on top that holds detergent to spin around on the inside of the lid. The brush is the perfect size and gets in all the cracks and holes. Then I simply rinse them. I have found replacement valves at the grocery...
...

My 16 month old daughter was caring around her Gerber Sip and Smile Cup and her sneaker got caught on the carpet and she fell. When she fell the cup made an inch and 1/2 laceration in her face. The doctor or my husband, nurses did not believe me that the sippy cup did this until they were cleaning out the laceration and saw where the three holes on top had scraped her tissue. 8 stitches from the er on my princesses face, we took her to a plastic surgeon who then re did the stitches from the inside and out- 100 stitches later, the cup went 80% through. Who would have ever thought a sippy cup would do this, one that is made for crawlers and toddlers. So beware and be careful. I wouldn't want anyone to have to have a nightmare like i have had...

The Gerber Graduates Sip and Smile Cups are one of the three cups I perfer for my children. The younger one in particular uses these cups, while the older preschooler perfers things with characters on them (so does the younger one but she is not as picky about it).

Features I Don't Like about the Gerber Graduates Sip and Smile Cups

they are not completely spill proof - as evidenced even tonight as I left the room to return to find a spill in the middle of my bed

can't find replacement lids or stoppers (that's what I call those little things that are supposed to keep it from tipping and spilling -- others call it valves)

hard to clean the inside where the valve sits

lack of colors or styles

Features I Do Like about the Gerber Graduates Sip and Smile Cups

better at not spilling than most

excellent beginner cup

curved surface near top of cup to make it easier to hold

no handles

dishwasher safe

BPA free

My Viewpoint: The Gerber Graduates Sip and Smile Cups were one of the first transition cups...
...

I have had a big problem with the PINK cups leaking.... odd I know but it always seems to be the pink ones. Good product but not cheap!...

I had tried a couple of the cheaper sippy cups to discover that they all leaked. After reading several reviews on the Gerber sip and smile sippy cups, I decided to give them a try, even though they were quite a bit above the price I thought was reasonable at about $4.00/cup. They are sold in packages of two, so forking over $8.00 to try a sippy cup seemed a bit risky to me.

We picked out the package with a pink and green one and headed home to try them out. What do you know? The pink one worked like a charm. The baby was having a hard time trying to figure out what to do with sippy cups with a hard sipper on the top. She is breastfed and uses a bottle rarely, and that bottle definitely leaks. I was thrilled when she figured this one out right away and started drinking and laughing while the bigger girls cheered.

I cheered, but I also wondered about the leak test. After a while of sipping and smiling, the baby threw down the cup to explore other things. I decided to leave it there lying sideways...
...

These cups are very nice. They are cute, affordable, come in many sizes, and don't leak.
My favorite part about these though is the angled soft spout version. It is the only sippie cup my one year likes. They only thing that I do not like is that the tops are hard to clean and the spill proof valve can be easily lost and is even harder to clean.
...

My 19-mo-old twins use these all day, every day and they have been great. No spills! The only drawback was both the girl set and the boy set have a green one instead of separate colors for each sex, which can be a little confusing if you have both a boy and a girl!

Tip: If you go to the gerber website you can get a coupon for $1 off
...

Aside from the teething marks my son has made, they have survived many falls.

I love that they are BPA-free as well. BIG PLUS for me. Dishwasher safe and they fit into most all cupholders.

The only vain downside is that they don't come in many colors or styles.

...
