guestnurse says "teenager struggling with sexual abuse and an alcoholic mother" about Georgia Rule

A story of a troubled teenage girl struggling to deal with her step father's sexual abuse, an alcolohic mother and a distant cold grandmother whom she is forced to live with due to her mom no longer being able to control her. I think Lyndsey, Jane and Felicity all did an excellent job acting in this movie. A movie that deals with the complexities of the relationship between a teenage daughter and her mother, the struggle of love and hate, wanting to grow up yet wanting to remain a little girl. I thought it was great and would recommend it but it is really more of a chick flick and guys probably wouldn't be that interested except to see Lyndsey flaunting around in skimpy clothes....

divinerebel says "I can't believe Hollywood wasted money and talent on this crap!" about Georgia Rule

Honestly, I only saw the last twenty minutes of this film on a plane. But that was enough to show me how horribly wasted these actresses were in a muddied, befuddled script! It seems to me that there may have been to many hands in this pot - no clear vision, no strong direction... too many voices striving for different ends.

This mess surprised me, because huffmn, Fonda, and even Lohan are all talented actors with a pretty strong history of good films (except for maybe Fonda's Monst-in-Law...). And Gary Marshall is an experienced filmmaker with a good eye, but... something went wrong here.

This would most likely have gone better with less money and more focus on allowing the characters created to tell the story more naturally. It just came across as contrived and forced. This was the most painful twenty minutes of film I have seen since the Coen Bros.' The Ladykillers. Avoid at all costs....

makayla says "The movie was good, but could have been better." about Georgia Rule

This movie was a good movie. The story line was very good the actors did an excellent job.I really liked it except for the language. Don't get me wrong, I'm not one to watch a movie with out cursing. You know the action pack movies or fighting movies, the ones you expect to have it.But to her hear Jane Fonda drop the F bomb in the being of the movie was a little shocking.Maybe I just need research the movies before seeing them or inviting a friend to see them with me. So I hope this helps you pick out your next movie....

i really enjoyed this movie and thought fonda did an excellent job in this film and i normally am not a fan of hers even tho i reconize her talent. Thought the actresses were well matched and did well as a team. I enjyed the ups and downs in this movie which also happen in real life. Has potential for a remake. Sappy in some places, sad in others....

From the commercial I had seen about Georgia Rule it looked like a fun heartwarming family movie about 3 generations of women in one family. I finally got the movie in my mail box a few days ago (Netflix). And while this movie is certainly a heartwarming story about 3 generations of women, there is also a much sadder, and horrible element to the story.

Lily (Felicity Huffman) is desperate she is at her wits end with her rebellious daughter Rachael (played by Lindsay Lohan) and no longer knows what to do with her. Lily had always tried to raise her daughter completely different from the way she was raised by her rigid, and strict mother Georgia (played by Jane Fonda). Georgia had always had a set of rules that she has lived by, and never veered away from them. But as Lily becomes more desperate to get her daughter to have a little more structure she decides that spending some time with Georgia might be just what she needs, and brings Rachael to Idaho to spend the summer with her...
...

LauraBelle says ""The Best Thing In Life Is To Forgive."" about Georgia Rule

After viewing this movie in the theatre today, I found it only fitting to write my own set of rules for watching it.

LauraBelle Rule #1 Bring your thinking cap, a box of Kleenex, and your smile.

LauraBelle Rule #2 Either see this alone or with a family member you don't mind getting real with.

LauraBelle Rule #3 Enjoy the fine acting of the female leads in this film Jane Fonda, Lindsay Lohan, and Felicity Huffman

LauraBelle Rule #4 If you're younger, enjoy hottie Garrett Hedlund, and if you're older, enjoy seasoned Dermot Mulroney. Or, be like me and enjoy both.

LauraBelle Rule #5 Laugh your butt off at rebellious teenager Lohan trying to get a rise out of this sleepy Idaho town by doing things like announcing aloud to Mulroney, the local veterinarian, that he needs to return her panties when he's done with them.

LauraBelle Rule #6 Feel for both Huffman and Fonda as though they are mother and daughter, they aren't even comfortable enough with each other to share a hug.

LauraBelle Rule #7 Wish......
