The Gateway NX570 series is Gateways latest line of midsize 15.4” notebooks. At 6.3 pounds, the NX570X is not light enough to be considered very portable, but it’s certainly lighter than a full desktop replacement. The series features brushed aluminum palm rests, a scratch-resistant cover, and Windows Vista. The entry level model of the NX570X starts at $899.99. At the time of this writing, Gateway is also offering a $250 instant rebate and a free upgrade to 1 GB of main memory, bringing the total cost of the entry level model to a budget-friendly $649.99.My fiancée’s old Toshiba A15 finally gave out, so I gave her my old Compaq V2000Z and started my search. I have a Core 2 Duo E6400 processor in my desktop and have been thoroughly impressed by its performance and lack of heat issues, so I knew I wanted the mobile version of the processor. My desktop has a good video card and is perfect for gaming, so I wasn't looking for a mean gaming machine in a laptop, but I did want good conventional...
...

It was a great system, recommended it to a friend, too. I had a high end upgraded version; she had the basic system. Within 12 months, hers stopped charging - bad motherboard connection. Mine took a few months longer, but died in the very same way. Almost $600 for a new motherboard... not worth it.

Disposable, waste of money.
...

Great computer works perfectly! Easy to hold and move around with. Keyboards are nice easy to type. Computer screen is big and easy to read the characters when writing, reading, spacing through the net. If you are looking for a nice computer this one is the right one for you. I love gateway and have been a steady purchaser of them. I would recommend this computer to anyone that wants a super computer at a reasonable price that can be on ur budget....

The gateway has always been a favourite.......and this is no different.....in otherwords...
A FANTASTIC BUY.......FULL STOP..

The Specs of this laptop compare with those in the higher market.....but its almost halve the cost of the top of the range.....for example the high end graphics card is that of the one fond in sony's latest masterpice(which retails around $8000)and the high end core(core2duo)is that found in high range Laptops To so.....if you buy this machine you wont be disapointed......

The only complaint about this laptop is, obviously, Windows Vista. Horrible program. Other than that, the laptop runs smoothly at lightning fast speeds. The laptop itself does not get overly hot either. And Gateway has wonderful customer service. I have dealt with them for almost 10 years through 2 desktops and this laptop and have always been very pleased with their service. Even if you didn't go for this particular model, I would still highly recommend any Gateway computer....

Sabbz says "Great notebook that comes with an awful Operating System" about Gateway NX570X Laptop

This notebook is a very, very nice piece of equipment, for being under $700. It comes with a GB of DDR RAM, an easy to read widescreen display, and all the basics of notebook pc's. One thing I immediately found both nice, and useful was the scroll bar on the touchpad. Simply run your finger eitherup or down the scroll, and the page, well, scrolls. It acts like the wheel on a mouse for those of you not familiar with the notebooks touchpad. It has wireless capability, a dual layer CD/DVD-R, three USB 2.0 ports and an Intel Dual Core 1.87 GhZ processor. It's not a gamer computer, nor is it excessive in any way. I bought it for school use, and outside of my own internet tinkerings and occasional recording projects, that's all it will be used ofr, ans as such, almost serves it's purpose.

The only real con is simply the Operating System. While Windows operating systems of the past were notorious memory hogs, Vista takes that concept to an entirely new level of excess. This causes......
