The Gateway MX6421 laptop is an okay overall laptop, but it has some annoying tendencies. First of all it take 5-10 minutes for it to be able to be used (for instance to go on the internet). Second its disk tray pops open for no reason at all or if I slightly bump it. It can be very sluggish and often its fan revs up and is very noisy for 5-20 minutes. On the upside is that I've had it for 3 or 4 years and have never had any huge problems (excluding the viruses I've gotten, but they've all been easy to remove). The screen is large, but could be brighter, yet this laptop is very portable. The battery life could be longer, as it only lasts 2 hours and 20-45 minutes. Overall its your (slightly under) average laptop. Also its tch support is dreadful.

This computer has a great bright widescreen. Gateway is a reliable company to buy computer products from so the choice for my laptop wasn't hard. I also like how it has many USB port, so you can plug all your products into the computer.

I do wish the laptop had more memory and speed though.

This is an awesome laptop. It has a beautiful picture on the screen and is not too heavy, and you can really use it to replace a desktop computer, would highly recommend it. This is a great product and for the price you can't go wrong. If you are looking for a new laptop that is not too over priced, and has a large screen, and is not too heavy, then I highly recommend buying this laptop....

This laptop was my 2nd Gateway. I had problems with the desktop so i thought i'd try the laptop. Yes it was better than the desktop, but still not the computer I'd recommend. The motherbroad and power supply went out in the first year. It cost about $500.00 to fix....

My wife needed a simple but proficient computer that she could grow with. This was the choice after looking at many models. It is not the most expensive or most powerful but does the job very well. We are very happy and would recommend this to anyone....

I love my gateway laptop, but it is only average. It is an inexpensive computer and I have had it for about a year now. The screen is shiny and does collect smudges but does not really show them. It costs six hundred dollars, which is pretty cheap for a good laptop computer. The Left-click has started jiggling recently which is a sign of cheapness, but it still clicks and everything else is still sturdy and working great. It works well and downloads software easily and quickly. I really like its style and it is not very heavy. This is an average computer, but it works well.
As an update though, I have to add that the K key just fell off recently. I did manage to get it in under warranty but just barely. It only has about 20 days left on the warranty. The folks at Best Buy said that they will replace the touch pad and the keyboard under warranty and that it should be back in about two weeks....

I feel that the big screen definitely came with a trade off in terms of portability.

This laptop is very heavy and cumbersome when traveling {especially on air planes} the over all size when transported in a case that it will fit into will not fit under the seat and it is quite heavy to be lifting it in to the over head compartment.

Putting portability aside ,in my opinion the quality is not up to the standard that I think it should be , especially for the amount of money I paid for it.

It's a little over one year old and I have replaced the power cord three {3} times- the keys fall off the key board like they were never firmly attached to begin with.

More importantly,customer service and tech support have been marginal at best.
