I love this notebook! It's reliable, compact and gets the job done! I am a Realtor and it is very important for me to travel light but at the same time have everything I need with me. The Gateway MT6840 Core Duo Notebook is perfect just for this! I would recommend it to everyone.

The Gateway MT6840 Core Duo performance or processor notebook is very relivable and dependable. I am very happy to own one of this laptops. I could take it with me everywhere I go because it is easy to carry and it is not heavy at all. I really love the wide 15.4 inches screen display because I do not have to get so close to the screen in order to look. Also with the wide screen, I don't miss to read important information. The wireless capability lets me use my laptop just anywhere where I go, such as airport, coffee shop, etc. It really lets you extend your mobility with the advance dual core power and enhance intel centrino dual connectivity. This notebook is very flexible because it has a lot of memory that lets you store just about anything in a fast and efficient way. I am very happy with the DVD drive, which lets you burn and play CDs and DVDs. So, if you want to get a great multimedia performance in your living room, during vacation, or on the go this is the laptop for you to get....

This is a nice computer and Vista has a lot of nice bells and whistles...if you want to regress to speeds slower that those that you may have experienced 4 ot 5 years ago. (Actually my 4 year old Dell Optiplex desktop that I bought on ebay for a little over $100 runs circles around this computer in terms of performance.) I added a flash drive to take avantage of Boost, but the incease in performance is imperceptable. Speaking of imperceptable I contacted Gatway for advice/help on increasing the performance and their support is imperceptable. The suggested options that would double the price of my computer. I asked if they could provide assistance to converting back to XP and they won't even respond. Fact of the matter is that I must have said something that offended them because I am apparrently on their black list. They refuse to answer any of my cooespondence no matter what I write to them about. They must understand that I am disspointed and are writing me off as a...

This is the first laptop I ever bought by myself for myself and it is well-worth every penny I worked and spent for it!

It's a bit heavy at 6.4 lbs especially when travelling to different countries and quite big with its 15.4" monitor but I don't mind. I specifically bought it with watching DVD's in mind and I enjoy it. I do most of my exercise DVD's with it in my room so I don't have to fight with anyone over the TV set.

I'm also a writer and editor so its speed (2.0 GHz) and capacity (2048 MB RAM and 160 GB HD) are very handy. I get to download the stuff I need and the research I make on the internet very quickly. I can store everything on the spacious harddrive without worrying if it will fit or not! And with its internal modem and strong wi-fi, I can easily work on it anywhere I go and fax whatever needs faxing as necessary.

Plus, with 4 (2.0) Hi-Speed USB ports, I can sync my Ipod and PDA without having to take out the printer cable and the cooling fan cable... Don't get me wrong,...

when looking for a new computer my husband and I searched everywhere for a new laptop. I had previously owned a HP desktop and hated it.

In the Fall of 2006 I started back to college after my kids were older and I felt I was ready.

It was a 14.1 Emachines N10, that I decided to buy at walmart for only $500. For a year, I loved it, but I decided I needed a bigger hard drive and screen, so the search began.

I bought this laptop, the Gateway MT6840 at Best Buy and as luck would have it my laptop was online at a lower price than in the store, Online was $499. and in the store it was I think $599. so they gave it to me for the online price and also knocked off another $50. which my total price was $449. I was also able to upgrade my memory at the same time.

I will be returning to school this fall and now my husband has the emachine and I still have the gateway but I am thinking of buying a desktop and my first choice will be Best Buy and Gateway. This has been the best computer I have ever...

I think that the Gateway MT6840 Laptop is a great and fast laptop also it has a great DVD burner and it is a very fast and affordable laptop. I use it for homework and it is very portible. The only con would be that it is 6 pounds so its a little heavy for a laptop. so all in all this laptop is great and i would recommend this to any one.

I am not an expert on computers by any means, however I have been doing ON-Line school for the past three years, and I am on a computer daily. I bought this laptop about 6 months ago, and I am very pleased with the ease to have 9 sites, open at once. I did dislike VIsta operating systems at first, but all computers now have that program, so what are we to do, but learn it... This is a wonderful laptop for highspeed internet conection, and for the price!...

When I bought this laptop, I have about stopped using my Dell pc. I love it's portability and the battery's staying power. I listen to alot of music on my computers and find that this laptop sounds nearly as good as my pc. I had it upgraded to 2MB and feel it was an awesome move, since it made a notable speed improvement. I do miss my multimedia keys a little, but not enough to give it up.

The Gateway laptop is a great computer for the money. The wide screen makes viewing easy. The wider computer allows the keyboard more finger room. It is like typing on a regular keyboard. I am a transcriptionist and typing is my livelihood. I have never been able to use other smaller laptaps due to the keyboard. The Gateway is a good laptop for someone that types a lot.

My husband bought this computer about 2 years ago. I first he carried it around with him everywhere and then about a year ago he gave it to me for my work. Sometimes if the screen is on for too long, it starts freaking out and changing colors. Also for a while everytime we turned it off, we would have to blow on the battery to get it to lock into place and turn back on. I don't know if my husband was really hard on it at first or if we got a lemon. I love the widescreen though when everything is working right! All the extras are really great too, like the DVD burner and drive for my card from my camera....
