Bryan-Carey says "Gasbuddy.com: A Semi- Reliable Friend" about Gasbuddy.com

Gasoline prices have been on everyone's mind for the past year or two and for good reason. Gasoline reached record high levels last year before retreating quickly and dropping down to levels not seen in nearly a decade. It is best to keep a step ahead in the game, and one site that helps consumers track gasoline prices is Gasbuddy.com, a web service that keeps you informed on the highs and lows of retail petroleum.

Web Service Commentary:

Gasbuddy.com is a web site with consumer interests in mind. This web service can be used to search an area of the country (or Canada) by state and then city, or by zip code, to find the cheapest and most expensive gasoline prices. Gasbuddy.com will quickly provide a summary of prices in your area, including the current prices, previous day's prices, the price one week ago, the price one month ago, and the price one year ago. It will then indicate the present trend in gasoline prices (just in case you cannot tell, from the quoted prices), followed by...
...

JazzSinger says "Lots of potential, but. . ." about Gasbuddy.com

Gasbuddy.com is a web site that has 2 aspects to it: you can participate by reporting gas prices and by posting on the message board, or you can use it as a resource for finding gas prices and reading articles related to gas and oil. When you participate on the site, you earn points which buy you entries into a drawing for pre-paid fuel cards.

I started out by experiencing the site as a participant. Since I have a job where I'm out and about all day, I figured I would be at an advantage as far as being able to report a lot of prices. Well, I neglected to read the rule which states that you only earn points for the first 5 gas prices you report in a given day. There are 3 gas stations at the nearest street corner to where I live, so just reporting the prices from those is more than enough to meet my maximum for a day. As for the message board, I'm involved in too much other stuff online already, so I simply don't have the time for it.

This site has a lot potential as a resource. ...
...

OldHippie says "Save A Penny Here & There" about Gasbuddy.com

From gasbuddy.com roam around until you find your exact city or county. For example, in St. Louis, it's stlouisgasprices.com. This is fine if you have two or more stations in your neighborhood that are vastly different in prices. Why should I drive 10 miles to save one cent per gallon? What's the use?

I've found the cheapest way to save on gas is simply NOT DRIVE unless I have to. If it's within three miles on my apartment, I get on my bike!

I've actually found the best way to save on gas is to sign up for a debit card at QuikTrip. If you have these in your area, simply insert your card, punch in your PIN # and save 2 cents per gallon at the pump. If the sign reads $3.99 a gallon, you pay $3.97. Again...no big deal. The oil companies are making BILLIONS, and we're trying to find ways to save pennies. :( :( :(
...

JovialCougar says "Find the cheapest gas. It's quick, easy, and fun." about Gasbuddy.com

With fuel prices going through the roof most people don't want to pay one cent more than they have to. One way to find lower gas prices is by checking out GasBuddy.com, where gas prices are posted on-line. Although the system is not fool-proof, it can help find gas for a lower price than the gas station is charging in your immediate area. And best of all the website is free of charge.

How does GasBuddy.com work? You just log onto the site and find the area you are located. You can point and click, type in city names, or enter a zip code. You'll find a long list of gas stations with their address, the recent gas prices (Regular, Premium, and Diesel are all often listed), city the station is located, and the name of the brand (Conoco, Texaco, etc...) It also lists the time and date that the price was spotted.

You can also help the site by spotting and recording gas prices yourself. You'll need to open an account on the site and chose a user name. Then as you are driving around...
...

OH this is one of the most beneficial web sites for everyone. I have a great time getting gas cards for giving info on gas station prices from everywhere I drive. THE MORE YOU POST THE MORE YOU CAN GET.

I am in Cleveland OH so gasbuddy.com/ohio/cleveland get me right to the top 10 cheap stations as well as the top 10 rip off stations with the worst prices. Truckers post diesel prices, I post regular.

Now noticing national news station using them to define the cheapest gas in USA & the most expensive (who was KMart in Brooklyn OH at $3.55 reg)
...
