I have owned a Garmin c550 for over a year now. I love it . It gets me anywhere I need to be. The best thing about the Garmin c550 is it also has a blue tooth device that allows me to talk hands free. I loaned to to my elderly mother and she and her friends have been able to drive themselves across country on a vacation they would have other wise not taken. My husband has a nav system built into his car and we both find that the Garmin c 550 is easier to use. It will find points of interest. Hotels by chain of nearest. Places to ear according to location of food type. When it comes to the garmin c 500 I love stick to the old saying Don't leave home without it

I brought this on sale a few years ago and it has been a life saver ever since. I have moved twice and could not have found my way around without it! I am constantly saying how glad I am to have it and what a great investment it has been.

I have had some problems with the system however. Sometimes, it seems to not tell me that there is a turn approaching if I am going at a low speed or if I have traveled that location many times before. Also, it will sometimes tell me that there is a better route available and then nothing else. What does that mean? If there is a better route available shouln't I be taking that instead? Am I not understanding something here? I never saw anything about that in the user guide, but it seems kind of ridiculous to tell me there is a better route available and not take me to it. I say in this instance ignorance is bliss if the machine is not going to do anything about it.

One last thing is the cost to update the system for new points of...

My husband and I received the GPS system from his mother. I had always been somewhat skeptical about them, but figured if it's free, why not? Suprisingly enough, I loved it! I use it on every road trip I can now :) My husband is in the Army Reserves and uses it to get to and from Saint Louis, Missouri, which is over 100mi from our home. It's very easy to set up. You just plug it into the power outlet in your car. As far as setting it up to use, well thats just as easy! The GPS system is very easy to use and I would reccomend it to everyone!!!

I have travelled to several area of the United States and find it very easy to get around with my Garmin. One of the best functions is finding a gas station on the way back to the airport to fill the rental car before returning it. After getting to the rental car the first thing I do is key in the address to where i am going and head out. I have been to San Francisco, Portland and Seattle recently without getting lost. It has taken me to the address I put in. I was happy especially in Portland where I thought the freeway system was confusing. After getting off the plane I could not acclimate myself to which direction was north. Leaving the airport and driving across Portland to to to Tillamook was made easy with my Garmin.

But I also find it very useful locally. Our town, Olathe, has grown so fast in the past 20 years without my Garmin there are places I go I really need directions to. My wife who is directionally challenged uses it even more than I do.

I absolutely love the Garmin Street pilot I think it is one of the best GPS's on the market. i have tested other GPS's and they tend to not be at reliable. The way I mean this is they will tend not to tell you the exact street that you are suppose to turn on. Say I am suppose to turn in 500ft on Shelby dr. The Garmin will tell me exactly that. Like I said I have tried out and have seen other GPS's both in rental cars and from my friends have owned. Most will tell you to turn in .05 mi and I dont know about most people but it is hard for me to gauge .05 miles. And they normally dont tell you the street that you need to turn on. Plus there is the added fact that you can just type in restaurants and it will tell you all the restaurants in your area. I have personally used this feature to find out where the zoo is, or a musseum. I absolutely love that feature. Also with the Garmin street Pilot, when you start to put in an address it will help you fill the rest in. ...

I absolutely love my GPS...before I had it I got lost all the time and was always known as directionally challenged and since my GPS I am able to get around with no trouble. Thank you...it has been a great blessing.

My husband and I never take a trip with out our Garmin. It has saved us many times from taking the wrong turn. The Garmin has given my husband relief from continually asking me if I am sure I am reading the map correctly. As I said before the Garmin is now part of every road trip that we take. If you do not have a Garmin then go out an buy one today.

My sister gave me the Garmin Streetpilot and she got one for herself. We both love it and use it all the time. Has be a real pleasure to use. At first I was afraid I would not know how to set it up since I am technically challenged but it was so simple it was amazing. The only problem I have had is the suction cup fell off and now they want me to buy new maps.

I drove from Pennsylvania to Montana last year when the Mississippi was flooded and was afraid that I would get hopefully lost. Thank God for my Garmin, got me where i was going without any trouble and gave me some fun, I loved having someone to swear at when I got rattled!...

I thought i could use the Mapquest website forever before buying my Garmin GPS.It tells you the street names and which street you have to make a turn.It tells you if there is heavy traffic on the road and it even tells you if there is a better route available .The Garmin GPS always calculates the estimated arrival time and it 99% accurate.Forget MApquest or other MAp sites .Some Gps touch screen dont work after some time but we have this GPS for quite a while now and it works smoothly.

After feeling limited in my mobility which is basically limited to my local area I decided that I wanted to be adventurous in the new year. I have a fear of getting lost but I love to travel. I decided to get a gps and only went by word of mouth which was a huge mistake. I chose the Garmen StreetPilot c550 GPS and was at first excited and impressed with the way it looked however, after turning it on and testing it out in my area I didn't like how I didn't have street by street and turn by turn instructions. It told me to for example to turn in 50 miles as oppose to saying the specific street name. It also didn't show the names of streets on the map. I was instantly turned off and unimpressed with it and so I sent it back. If you are anything like me you need a gps that tells you step by step and the Garmen StreetPilot c550 GPS is definitely not it.

I bought my years ago and I still have the same one. every couple years I just buy the new software and upload it onto my GPS using my computer and the cables that came with it. Garmin is truly the best when it comes to navigational systems. It has over 5 million points od interest and can find places that google or Map 2 Go can't. I be lost without mine....

The Garmin StreetPilot has been an absolutely wonderful help. i was given lola (the name i have given it) for graduation and used it on my way to college. i go to college 16 hours away and it was necessary to get around my new town and the surrounding areas. Great for finding new things to do! Very easy to use, voice isn't too annoying either.

I have been using the Garmin c550 GPS unit for several months now, and am beyond satisfied with it's performance.

I have had no real issues with the unit with the exception to the suction cup.It will stay for approximately 2-3 minutes then fall.It does not seem to matter where or how I place it.This is a rather large downfall for me but otherwise I am pleased with the product.

I would buy from this manufacturer again in the future.

I researched thoroughly before I purchased the Garmin Street Pilot C550. I purchased it at TigerDirect online for a mere $125.00. It is loaded with different voices and dialects, so you can choose the one you understand best. It is easy to use and the touch screen is great. You can check where you are going step by step as you are driving to your destination. The Bluetooth is great and connects to my phone with ease. I live in a very rural area, and there are more short cuts than I know about. With the Garmin, I can go to one location, enter another location and get there without going out of my way. However, being in such a rural area, my Garmin doesn't always know all of the roads around my home vicinity, but it always recalculates and gets me back on my way. I find myself using it even when I know where I am going. It might take you the long way, but it will always get you where you need to be!
