This GPS has been great. It is discontinued, so the newer roads and locations are not updated in it. But if I need a gas station or a hotel, or even certain stores, it can tell me how close I can find one. I am no longer struggling with printed out directions while driving. My husband is a meter reader and has also used it quite a bit. We are very pleased with our Garmin Streetpilot.
...

slptasch says "great if maps are updated." about Garmin - StreetPilot c330

We bought this Garmin Stretpilot c330 gps December 2007. The maps were already out of date. We just recently got a computer and got online. I went to download updated maps and they were going to charge me. The updates for this gps device was more than what I paid for the device. So I did not update. So we have to be careful because it will get us lost. We are fixing to go on as trip. I have already went to mapquest and downloaded a trip map to use in conjunction with this gps. If I would have known it costed for the updates I would not have purchased the unit. I would have been perfectly fine without the gps unit. Itis easier to just go to mapquest. Updates range from $69.99 to $119.99. You can get a one time or four times a year depending on package you want. If you are wanting to spend the money, then it is a good investment. As for us we will just leave it likeit is. We will just take the computer with us and get directions and locations that way.
...

jabrink says "This device will get you to your destination quickly and easily" about Garmin - StreetPilot c330

The Garmin C330 is a very reliable GPS system. It will take you turn by turn in an easy to follow map and voice command system. Programming a desitanation is also easy and quick. It gives many good points of interest that covers all your needs.

One thing I am noticing after about 2 years of having it that the maps are getting outdated and are expensive to update, when driving on a new unkown road the device tries to get me back to the closet known road. If you do not know the area very well it can be very confussing on where you really need to be. In some situations it defeats the purpose of have the GPS unit. Another sticking point is the price for the updates of the maps, for about the price of the map update I can get a new unit. For the money I spent on it I don't feel I got the true value of of the device if every couple years I need to buy a new one or drop $100 on a map update.

Over all I am happy with the device but wish the maps would be cheaper and easier to update.
...

I received my Garmin StreetPilot c330 as a gift. I love it! I feel much more confident when traveling the highways for business or pleasure. If I make a "wrong" turn, either by accident or by design, the nice "Garmin Lady" says "recalculating" and tells me what I should do next to get headed back in the right direction.

My son-in-law has a Garmin Nuvi, although I don't know which model # it is, and it helped my find my way around Boston when I was there for the birth of my granddaughter last week. Otherwise, I would have been hopelessly lost, for sure! With the Garmin, I was able to make myself more useful by running errands for the new mom & dad.
...

The Garmin StreetPilot c330 GPS receiver is an economical and portable. It tells you when to turn and in which direction, but doesn't name the street. It has an SD memory slot which allows you to install additional maps or new waypoints. The biggest problem with this GPS is that the suction cup doesn't stay attached to the windshield for more than an hour or two before it comes unstuck. The dashboard attachment disk (a smooth disk with an adhesive backing) did not stick to the dash at all....

karkum says "Outdated model - maps are expensive than the GPS unit" about Garmin - StreetPilot c330

I bought my StreetPilot C330 last month for a bargain (or thought so) for $99. I was thrilled initially, but then found that it could not locate my house which was built 2 years ago. I called Garmin. They said, it's an outdated model and so it doesn't have the latest maps. They said, I need to purchase new maps update, which costs $70 !! I've bought the updates yet, but it sounds ridiculous that I've to buy naps update on a newly purchased unit. I'm satisfied with the product, but just not with the maps....

But for a 'begginer', the C330 is very easy to use, somewhat cheap, and works great. Everything is easy to use and see and also hear. Great details and directions unlike other brands.
This was my first GPS. It has a great price and works very well at getting you where you need to go. The mouting unit for the window works very well. My battery is already dead, so I must leave it always plugged into the power port in my truck. There aren't really any bells and whistles with this unit (compared to a newer TOMTOM), but its mapping is great!...

After driving around getting lost trying to locate a client's address, frustrated, we pulled into Wal-mart. We were so upset we told the salesman that we just wanted a GPS unit and asked what he would recommend. He showed us several options but said that his choice was the Garmin StreetPilot c330. We decided to purchase it, even though it was more than my husband and I wanted to spend. I must say, it was one of the best purchases we have ever made. We drove straight to the clients locations, which ended up being in an old historic section of the city without any street signs! We would have NEVER found it without the c330!

I would recommend this particular unit to anyone looking to purchase one unit in a multi car family. My husband and I trade off because we rarely are traveling apart where we would both have a need for the unit.

Not only can it get you to a specific location but it can also help you locate restaurants in an area by food type, a gas station, a nail salon or a museum....
...
