Right out of the box I was able to start using my Garmin nuvi 660. Very simple, straightword touch screen. I like all the extras but haen't ever used the music player or book reader thing. The other thing I don't like is how expensive the updates are but overall a great navigator.
...

In my many journeys from central California to the Bay Area (San Francisco) I don't know how I made previous trips without this device!!! Other than my Venti raspberry mocha from Starbucks, my Garmin is my favorite traveling companion!

While these devices may not give you the very BEST route to a previously unexplored destination it will certainly get you there eventually. I love how it will talk to you and tell you a turn is coming in x feet and to move to the right or the left. Navigating through congested highways and busy city streets without having to actually look at anything is a blessing beyond belief!!

Pick one up and give it a go -- even if you know where you are going!
...

The Garmin Nuvi (We have named her Saydee) always gets us where we are going. We haven't gotten lost since we got it. It's easy enough for my four year old to use. He always says "Just follow the pink line" Only problem is it always tells us to go the wrong way out of our driveway for some reason!
...

They would be great if they updated them more often. The street/ house numbers in Farmville have gone from 3 numbers to 4 numbers (example 121 to 3529 N. Main Street), but they are still showing the old numbers. They need to explore this further and make the corrections that are required to give the right numbers. Also some of the numbers in Greenville are incorrect also........

I would definetely, definetely tell you NOT to buy this gps. There is an old saying -- you get what you pay for. In this case, I paid a little and got even less. The thing is horrible. it actually gives you wrong directions, if you can believe it. I got lost three times with it - and not even once without it...dont waste your time money and or patience with this clunker. I am trying to return it to the store and even THEY told me its basically a big piece of junk. people buy it to save money but end up aggravated and lost......

The Garmin Nuvie 660 GPS Receiver is so easy to use. I used to get lost just driving around the corner, and that never happens now. It is very user friendly. The voice talking to you is pleasant to listen to.

My husband has a GPS that came installed in his 2007 Infiniti G35. However, he would much rather have my GPS as his is much harder to use than mine.

I don't know how I ever lived without it before. I am on the road quite frequently with my job, and this device has been a lifesaver. If you are directionally challenged like I am, this is the device for you.

...

We used to have different GPS before. The Garmin nuvi was the set won by my hubby in a conference. The set is good but not easy to use. The system provides warnings atleast 2 miles in advance and very good to add different destinations. Its clear and works without the power card just on battery which makes it easy to carry with you.

The problems I see are it does not give the complate distance to reach the destination on the top of the map. We have touch the screen on the miles part several times to the distance.

It also seems to be taking country roads more often than the freeways even though the setting is done to take the freeways. I cant take the way given by this GPS when driving alone.

The points of interest is nice feature and very helpful.
...

I recently encountered the Garmin Nuvi on a trip with my in-laws to Daytona Beach. None of us had ever been there before and were completely lost, but the Garmin system helped us find our way around with no problems-- it even found the best route back in to Atlanta, which is surprisingly hard for technology most of the time! The easy-to-use touch screen was simple enough for my mother-in-law (the least technically savvy of us) to use and if we wanted to get lost for a while, it was easy enough to touch a button and shut it down or just turn down the voice. It was also compact enough to slip in to a handbag when we went in to restaurants (which we found thanks, of course, to the Garmin!)....
