If you can get past the annoying beeping sound it makes as it is washing (which I was able to close the door and do) it still is the worst purchase I can remember making. We had a Maytag with a stainless tube before and were never totally happy with it. It washed fine but seemed to break down frequently. When we moved we decided to buy a new one. Got the GE profile and you can not imagine how wrinkled your clothes are when finished washing. It never seems to have enough water to properly wash either. To think that I paid $500 for this and have to deal with clothes this wrinkled is sickening. Please do not buy this product. You will hate yourself if you do! I have NEVER written a review but felt I had to share my experience to help someone else not get taken! Thanks.
...

lenabr says "PerfectTemp feature is a serious design flaw" about GE Washer - Profile Top Load - WPRE6100G

This washer has a serious design flaw. If you think on the Hot cycle it fills the water from your hot water tap, think again. It dilutes the incoming hot water with cold to the "perfect" 105F. To me this is tepid, not hot.

I complained to GE people that the hot water is not hot enough, and they said that the PerfecTemp Target Wash Temperatures: Hot- 105° , Warm- 90° , Cold- 60°.

However, the owners manual says "Make sure house water heater is delivering water at 120°F–140°F (48°C–60°C)" .

Something does not add up. I should NOT have to heat the water only to get it diluted with cold water. This is a huge waste of energy and money.

I conducted an experiment - set my washer to Hot and started the cycle with the lid open. When it switched water from hot to cold I used a large kitchen pot to catch cold water and empty it into a 5 gallon bucket. Well, more than 10 GALLONS of wasted cold water later I finally got to wash in HOT water.

And here is what the GE people...
...

I have had this washer for 2 months. It does not get the powder off the clothes let alone the dirt. It is full of water, and dirty clothes . The Tech said the Control board it out.

This is the worse machine I have ever owned. Do not buy this machine.

I just love this GE Profile Top Load Washer! I had a little bit older (maybe a couple years old) model at our house previously but had to leave it with the house. I loved it so much that I had to get another one in my new house. It is very reasonably priced for a High Efficiency Washer and I can stuff a lot of clothes in there! It was at least $150 cheaper than the cheapest front load. I like to be able to add clothes in after the cycle begins. Sometimes I forget that important piece that needs cleaned on that cycle! This new model does not have an agitator but my old one did, leaving more room for more clothes! I just got this one in August 09. Gets the clothes super dry after it spins! It is super quiet too! The only time I hear it is when it is spinning or draining. I wash my king size comforters in them and they come out smelling fresh & clean. (I know you are not supposed to wash comforters in washers) I love having a timer count down to tell when they will be done and a buzzer so...
...

Bought this machine March 1st 2009, now it doesn't work. Technician finally came out today, mind you after the scheduled time and said that the motor is bad. Now I have to wait until next Tuesday for them to replace the motor of a six month old used machine. In the mean time after paying over $600. for a washer, six months later I have to go to the laundry mart for the grown up clothes and handwash my baby's clothes. Great job GE...never again.
...

Oh GE Profile Washing Machine - how do I love you? Let me count the ways.

You have second rinse AND extended spin options - my clothes smell so fresh!

I need less soap with you my dear and that makes me happy.

You have DELICATE cycle that is actually DELICATE

When you broke the repairman knew exactly what was wrong with my baby...he fixed it in less than an hour and even wiped my sweet baby off with a towel! He was lovely.

You were on sale at the Home Depot because you were the floor model! ;)

You hold more than any washer I have ever had - makes laundry fly by!

You go so sweetly with the GE Profile Gas Dryer we got second hand from a friend three years ago.

All I can tell you is that if you are looking for a bargain top load machine this is your best friend. The problem it had was something they knew at the factory - models you buy now should not have the problem. It was some do-hookie about the tork used to connect the tub? Whatever - it is fixed now!
...

Bought this new GE Profile washer 4 months ago. Spin cycle stopped working so I emptied water by hand along with a load of wet laundry. Called GE and was advised that they would not send a tech until I had gone thru a ridiculous procedure that required I put a significant amount of laundry in, start the machine and then...get this...open and shut the lid six times. After following instructions I was once again left with a tub of water and load of wet laundry. When GE so graciously allowed me to have a tech he went thru the same moronic steps and announced the motor must be replaced. In an effort to close the barn door after the cows had escaped, I did a little research on this machine and found my problem to be all too common with this model. Apparently this washer is made so poorly that drive shafts and motors are often replaced within the first 3 to 4 months and at regular intervals after that. I will continue to monitor the internet in hopes of getting in on the inevitable...
...

It's hard to find a washing machine that's large enough to hold a comforter but gentle enough to wash your most delicate items. This machine meets all my needs with a variety of wash cycles and speeds. It fits lots of clothing in one load that in my old machine would require two loads. It's super quiet - sometimes I have to double check to make sure I hit the start button. I'm not real big on the electronics on it - think it's something that might break but it was in stock and that was most important since my old one died and I was in the middle of laundry....

I have owned a GE washer for over 25 years now. This washer has went through alot and it is still working. We had a flood in our basement over 20 years ago and my washer was in the basement. The water was all the way to the ceiling of the basement and my washer was floating around in the water. I thought for sure it would never work again. Once it dried out all the way we plugged it in and turned it on and it worked just like if we just got it new. I have since moved from that place and took my washer with me and it is still working to this day. I am sure it will die some day but on till it does I will continue to use this and when it does I will be getting another GE washer because they seem to be the best and last for ever.......
