Wow! Can I say anything nice about our GE front loading washing machine experience? Probably not. With in one year the front rubber gasket seal broke, not sure how that happened. So we had major leaking isues. It was not covered by the warranty and the seal, a piece of rubber cost around 120-130.00. Then we would have to reinstall it ourselves, which who wants to worry about installing it right but then you can't afford to hae someone do it. So we dealt with it the best we could. With in a few mos after that, we started having door locking issues which then screwed up our cycles. So it would read that the door was still locked even tho it wasn't and so we had to wait up to 2 days for the washing machine to reboot itself and turn it off and then we could do another load. Then about the same time, the washer decided to only spin the clothes completely sometimes. Sometimes we had dripping clothes which again if the readout was reading the door was still locked we couldn't...
...

I bought this same washer dryer set on July 2008. I had to call GE the very first time I used it because it did not drain all the water. They told me it was not their problem because Lowe's must have installed it wrong. Lowes came right out and said it was a problem with the machine. After about 8 service calls from July to Dec. 2008 they finally replaced the machine. Now it is Sept. 2009 the "new" maching is doing the same thing and this is the thrid time I have had to call for the repairman. They are now telling me that I had "too heavy" a load. (3 bath towels, 4 wash cloths, 5 dish cloths) This is too heavy? I thought this was their larger capacity heavy duty washer? I will never ever buy GE again. In fact I am thinking of loading this one on a truck and putting a big Lemon sign on it and parking it in front of Lowes which is directly across from Best Buy!
...

I purchased the GE front load washer in April 2008. In July 2008 the front door seal cracked and the water ran out on my hardwood floor. I called GE for service under the warranty and took off a day of work. The repair man was a no show. I called for a 2nd appointment - on a Saturday. This time he called in sick. My daughter took off work for the 3rd appointment. GE said they were sorry - period. The seal cracked again in June 2009 and this time I paid over $300 for the repair. In July, it stopped working. I purchased a top load Maytag and had them dump the GE. I emailed GE and have yet to get a response from them. I am disappointed in the product as well as angry with the lack of customer service on the part of GE.
...

GE Adora frontloader washer: wouldn't buy it again, it's a snail!

Pros -- It saves water & energy, for sure. This unit does clean clothes well, I love how it looks and I like the sanitize feature.

Cons -- it is slooooow to finish its cycles. We've also had a service call on it already to fix the popular problem of water collecting/cycle not finishing -- this was a result of the filter/trap getting clogged by a kid's sock. The design of the unit is frustrating b/c it is near impossible to access this catch-trap area. It requires pulling off the face plate and taking apart several panels. I'm sure it has been redesigned by now (we've had our unit for a year now, 2008).

The king-size tub is still not big enough to wash a large comforter as advertised. A lot of people complain that these front-loader washers smell bad/moldy over time... the key is to keep the front door open when not in use. Only close the door when it is in use, that way the tub can dry and air out. We have had......

We needed to replace our out-dated, energy sucking washer & dryer. After consulting Consumer Reports, we started shopping around. We went with the GE front loading pair. They were highly rated, energy star rated and the price fit our budget. I am in love with these appliances...my clothing has never looked better, and my utility bills have lowered. WinWin!
...
